JOURNAL 1: Assets and Challenges to Succeeding in the Course
Linguistics can be a very intriguing subject which can be either hard or easy for
some students to master. Nonetheless, it is very important in our everyday life as English
is acknowledge as the main language of the world and being able to master writing in
English will make us a more advanced and proficient person. With that being said, I
believe that in my years of learning to write in English, I still have a lot of flaws that can
be improved upon and hope to overcome continuing this course.
One of my many challenges in this course is that I tend to procrastinate a lot and
often times, do my work to the very last minute. In doing a research paper, you need
plenty of time to do research, planning, reading and writing so that you can create the
perfect research paper. With insufficient time and effort, the research paper will be dull
and inferior. Another characteristic about me that impedes me from doing a research
paper is Im busy with my job and other activities. This correlates with my point about
procrastination. I tend to put more emphasis on my social activity such as hanging out
with friends, going to the gym and partying on the weekend which will make this course
left behind and worked on the last minute. The last point thats inferior about me
regarding this course is that English writing is weak and not up to par. I believe that life is
a continuing lesson and Ill try to do my best for this research paper.
On the other hand, my asset that I believe will help me in this course is Im a
good researcher. I can search for credible sources on the line or reading books, journals or
even newspaper. Ill surely use it as my advantage to create the perfect research paper.
