The areas remaining that we need to focus on operationally in Tucson Sector are the secondary fencing
for Nogales, Naco, and Douglas in that priority. We need to expedite these projects in support of
operations.

Can we use contingency miles to replace any existing antiquated fencing?

Thanks

See the message below. We need to discuss if and where additional fence would
best serve the Tucson sector. We need to be ready with what type of fence,
where to place it and distance to cover so if/when the contingency miles are
available we do not lose out because we do not have a plan.

Can you help me on this?

Subject: SPL Contingency Miles

In a couple of weeks SBI and ECSO are sitting down to look at the Texas fence
miles - inch by inch, go and no-go. SBI expressed this to us yesterday
during our SPL brief to them, and it was conveyed to me again this morning
during a conversation I had with (b) (6)

As I conveyed to SBI yesterday our district needs to have everything we can

awarded by the end of June. Based off of updates you give me on the cut
sheets I will begin working the contingency mile schedules with ECSO in P2.

I also expect our SPL team to begin thinking now about what other areas
across our footprint that do not have exisiting miles or planned miles of
fence could be a viable solution for more miles; e.g. From D6 to the
Patagonias. Let's be prepared to address any needs after the Texas meeting.

Although (b) (6) is going to manage the VF300 projects he is fresh to the
program and will need your assistance in getting up to speed. It is
different hitting the ground running than hitting a tread mill running. We
have already found areas for VF300 that "might" not make the date. As you
know managing these projects are a full time gig and (b) is not going to
have the time to get up to speed on the complexities of (6)our work while at the
same time managing execution. It is like a three legged race and we need to
drag each other across the finish line.

In short if the program needs more miles of fence to execute it will be up to

SPL and SPA; we can effect SPL. Let's start thinking about it and be
prepared to make recomendations.

Thanks,
(b)
