Text: Acts 2: 41 - 46
Introduction: What gave the first church of Jerusalem its power?
the members modeled Gods love to the world.
this love changed their lives and empowered their witness.

I. They LOVE THE LORD - (vs. 41 - 42)

A. They responded to Gods message of love (Romans 5: 8 the gospel).
(1. Evidenced their love for God through baptism.
(a. Baptism speaks of His burial and resurrection. (Romans 6: 3 - 4)
(b. Communion speaks of Christs death. (I Corinthians 11: 23 - 26)
(2. Evidenced their love by following Jesus, obeying Jesus, and identifying with Jesus.
(Matthew 3: 15 - 17; Matthew 28: 18 - 20; Acts 2: 41)

II. They LOVE ONE ANOTHER - (vs. 42 - 46)

A. Loved to gather to hear Gods Word (I Corinthians 12: 8).
B. Loved to fellowship (Hebrews 10: 25).
C. Loved to break bread - His love and death at the cross.
D. Loved to pray - sharing needs and rejoicing in Gods provision.


A. Constantly witnessing and got involved.
(1. Resulted in daily addition.
(2. The church became a whole team to reach the world.

Conclusion: What did the Jerusalem Church have that we lack?

Is the power of love is active among us?
What can we do to increase our love?
