My students need a better carpet for our
library/classroom meeting space. The carpet is
everything to building a classroom community--
from reading to morning meeting activities.

My Students
My students believe that they will succeed. Our class pledge states, "I
will be a great scholar, and I will have an AMAZING future." This is true
for all 40 of our third grade readers, all of whom receive both free or
reduced lunch. I teach two separate third grade reading classes -- one
Ms. Ellis
of 20 students, and the other of 17 students. Both classes must be Dike School of the Arts
consistently engaged and excited in reading in order to meet our goal of Cleveland, OH
reaching (and exceeding) the standards of Ohio's Third Grade Reading Grades 3-5
Guarantee. Highest Poverty

We are a public arts-integrated elementary to middle

school, offering diverse programs such as Dance, Choir,
Visual Arts, and Orchestra for Pre K-7th grade students.
9 donors have given to this project.
These are creative, daring students who naturally push themselves to
be better readers, and soak up every opportunity they have to succeed. This project will reach 40 students.

My Project
Cleveland Metro School Dist
The classroom carpet is essential to building a strong classroom
Cleveland, OH Grades 3-5
community. It is a place for students to sit together and learn. It is a
place for them to snuggle up on bean bag chairs, with a favorite stuffed Highest Poverty Warmth, Care & Hunger
animal, and read their favorite books. It is a place for our classroom
Magnet School
meeting to take place-- where students play games, greet each other,
and build lifelong friendships.

SHARE MS. ELLIS'S PROJECT

A new carpet would allow our classroom to shine-- it will
provide comfort, safety, and promote learning by creating

a peaceful environment.

and happy to go to it-- from computers, to tables, and ESPECIALLY our

library. Putting down a comfortable carpet can transform minds and
build strong reading habits.
