Thor is a 2011 American superhero movie directed by Kenneth Branagh and

Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, and Tom Hiddleston as the main lead. The
movie is based on Marvel Comics character of the same name, produced by
Marvel Studios. It was released on May 6, 2011, in the United States. The DVD
and Blu-ray sets were released on September 13, 2011.
The story begins when three scientists, Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), Erik
Selvig (Stellan Skarsgard) and Darcy Lewis (Kat Dennings) are in the New
Mexico desert for studying an aurora borealis phenomenon. Suddenly a large
tornado storm develops and they met with Thor (Chris Hemsworth) who exiled by
his father because of his arrogance when he attack Jotunheim.
Odin (Anthony Hopkins) took Thor's power and hammer. He gets a little
aggressive and Darcy knocking him out with electric gun. They load him into
their van and take him to the hospital. Once again he starts fighting as he wakes
up. Erik tries to get Jane to leave him be, but she is curious and attracted to him.
They go back to the hospital but Thor has escaped. But finally they can take him
with them.
After overhearing locals discussing a satellite crash 50 miles due west when
they take lunch in the restaurant, Thor decides to go there and once again Erik
tries to get Jane to leave him alone. Thor walks about the town but Jane appears
and gives him a ride by her car.
At the satellite crash site actually the place where Thor's hammer came to
earth a crowd has gathered; people are trying to lift the hammer from the crater.
Then government agents from SHIELD take over the site and took all of Jane's
research notes and computers.
When night comes, the site is surrounded by guards and tents. Thor attacks
and Jane hide in safety. After beating up several agents, Thor finally reaches the
hammer, but he is unable to lift it. He screams at his powerlessness, then SHIELD
agents take him.
In Asgard, Loki (Thor's brother, played by Tom Hiddleston) realizes he is
not a pure Asgardian and Odin admits Loki was taken from Jotunheim and Odin
raised him as his own child. Loki is angry as Odin falls into a coma. Loki
becomes king.
Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) from SHIELD ask some questions to Thor,
and when he leaves him alone, Loki appears in the room. Loki tells Thor that Odin
is dead and he cannot come back to Asgard. After that, Agent Coulson lets Erik
take Thor, who grabs Jane's notebook on the way out.
Loki meets Laufey (Colm Feore), the king of Jotunheim to makes a deal
with Laufey that he will let them into Asgard again to kill Odin and have their
magical chest. Loki also commands the Destroyer to go to Earth and kill Thor.
The Destroyer arrives in the New Mexico desert and starts attack everything
with a heat flame. Thor and the three scientists try to get everyone away safely.
Thor face the Destroyer and he gets severe injury. Jane runs to the body in tears.
However, Thor's hammer is back to him because he tries to protect his friends. He
can easily defeats the Destroyer and tries to return to Asgard, promising Jane he
will return.
The frost giants arrive in Asgard. Laufey goes to Odin's bed and, as he
prepares to kill the Odin's wife (Rene Russo), Loki kills Laufey to appear to be the
hero. Finally, Thor back to Asgard. Thor runs quickly to fight the frost giants.
Loki goes to the Portal and try destroy Jotunheim. Thor tries to stop him and
they fight. As everything crashes, the two brothers fall into space but Odin is there
to hold Thor, who holds Loki's hand. Loki takes off his hand to fall off and
disappear.
All seems back to normal on Asgard, although Odin is sad about Loki, his
son. Finally Thor inducted to be king in Asgard. Thor still seeing Jane from
Asgard and he knows that Jane is looking for him too.
Thor is described as the god of thunder, but in the movie we can see that
Thor really does appear to have ice-related opponents, The Frost Giants. Also we
can see that Thor's hammer is plain enough. We already know that the hammer is
heavy, but we can see that the hammer is more like a hands-free device. Thor will
sometimes need to do things with both hands; it would be a bore to keep having to
put the hammer down.

Thor can be entirely ridiculous sometimes, and the world of Asgard does
look sometimes like the digital universe. It underuses actors like Jeremy Renner
and the Japanese star Tadanobu Asano in minuscule roles. But this is entertaining
stuff, a serviceable summer movie and Asgard to be a good thing.

Overall, Thor is an excellent Marvel superheroes movie. This is a movie

well worth watching.
