When you chose your team in the final section I suggest the standard
combination of 1 white mage, 1 black mage, 2 fighters, and random 5th member.
Everything under my evaluation is just my personal feelings on that character.
It is totally up to you whether you want to use them or not. When you are
choosing I would suggest looking at the bands those characters can use and set
it up using that as a reference for your team. I will rate the characters
using this system.

His usefulness is determined by where you are at in the game. If you are in
the first part of the moon he is only good for a shield. He still has his
cover move so he can defend the weaker characters. Just remember that his
stats are horrible so he will be slow. During the second half of the moon he
is much more useful. His stats are very high and he can do a lot more damage
than during the first part. He will also be able to use his powerful bands
and his weak white magic.

Edge is not a bad character. Unlike his fellow ninjas he is able to use all
of the different varieties of Ninjutsu. Being able to duel-wield weapons
helps his attack stats but his defense is horrible.

He is the best character in my opinion. Not only can he use the most powerful
weapons and armors, but he can also cast the most powerful black spells.
These include Flare and Meteor. So long as you don't kill him off he will be
one of the top fighters. The biggest downside to Golbez is that his HP will
not increase from the time that you get him until he gets past level 55.

One of the toughest fighters in the game. Not only can he hit hard, he can
avoid attacks using his jump command. Like Cecil he can use white magic, but
unlike Cecil his magic is able to be used in fights.

Palom has very good magic stats. An additional bonus to using him is that he
is able to learn the Dualcast ability in the final dungeon.

The only weapons that he is able to use are claws. He is also only able to
use light armor. The bright side is that he has high speed, health, and power
which makes up for his weak defense
You start off seeing the title screen which then switches to a
airship flying over the land. You then go to the airship where you
are told your destination is in sight. After a bit of banter between
Biggs, Wedge, and your character Ceodore you will land and you will
gain control of Ceodore. You will be required to talk to all 5 of the
soldiers on the ship to continue the story. After your little chat
you will get drawn in to another chatty cutscene with Biggs and Wedge
After all that you will finally be on the world map. Now it is
time to do a little leveling up. But first we need to discuss some
things about the battle system. Even those who are familiar with the
original game need to listen up. Most of the battle system is the
same but this new game incorporates the concept of moon cycles. There
are four types of moons, New Moon, Waxing Moon, Full Moon, and Waning
Moon. Every time you stay at an inn, use a tent or cottage, or let a
certain amount of time pass the moon will change phase. And during
the different moons certain abilities will be strengthened or
weakened. During the New Moon techniques like Jump and Aim will be
strengthened and White Magic will be weakened. During the Waxing Moon
White Magic will be increased and Black Magic will be decreased. Full
Moon makes your Black Magic stronger and your physical attacks will be
hampered. And finally for the Waning moon attacks are good and
techniques are bad. During each moon the ability that is strengthened
will be highlighted in green and red for the ability that is weakened.
One plus to this is that the moons will also affect the enemies as
well as you. So make sure that you plan your fights for whatever moon
will help you the most while hurting your foes.
Mythril (cemy)
Now you will want to level up Ceodore a good bit. For a little
bit about Ceo he is not the best of fighters but he can learn a array
of white magic on top of being able to do damage. I recommend not
going by what level he is but by the money you have. To get the good
upgrades for Ceo's equipment you are going to need around 600 gil.
That might not seem like much but it will take a while. One thing to
take note of is the airship in the middle of the island. It is not
just there for decoration, there is a pot on board that will heal your
magic and your health. Everybody say hurray for magical pot :).
Dude!! Anyway when you are done leveling up and getting money you
need to head into town. After talking to Biggs and Wedge you can
explore the town. There are three chests hidden in the grass
throughout the city. Above the weapons and armor shop is a ruby ring.
To the right of the equipment shop is a house with no door. Above it
is a potion and to the right is a tent. When you are ready go to the
inn and decide to rest for a bit. Head out of the inn and go to the
grotto outside of town.
When you exit the cave you need to head for the airship.
WARNING: Wedge is about to permanently leave your party. It is now
time to completely unequip him. Once you are ready to proceed with
the story get on board and talk to the soldier. Remember if you say
yes you will not be able to return to this island for a long time.
You will now be drawn into another scene on the ship. Can't believe
we risked our lives for a stupid tail. Probably could have found one
of those around the castle. Anyway you will now be in the middle of a
monster attack. For this fight have Ceo attack, Biggs use BM and
Wedge use WM to heal.
Baron (ceba)
Baron Castle East Side
After the fight you will transition over to King Cecil at the
castle. When you have control of him head right for another battle.
Just attack twice and the battle should end. After the battle head
right and up and press a little button on the wall. This will open up
a door to a tent, decoy, and a phoenix down. Head up the stairs and
follow the path until you end up in another fight. Kill the three
small birds first then focus on the zu. Keep heading right until you
reach a save point. You will notice a door like earlier but you are
unable to open it. Head down and when you are outside head up through
the gate and into the tower. While wandering around watch out for the
liliths, their slap attack can cause different status effects.
Inside the tower head to the left and down the stairs. Check the
pot by itself to get a Remedy. Head back up the stairs remembering to
get the Ether from the chest. The other chests on this floor contain
a red fang, a Hi-Potion, and a Hermes Sandals. Head up the stairs on
the right to find six pots and two chests. The upper right hand pot
contains an echo herb, the bottom middle contains a bacchus's wine,
and the chests have a Hi-Potion and a Heavenly Wrath. Up the final
stairs to find a girl being harassed by a monster. But before we help
her loot the two chests for a remedy and 500 bucks. You would think
being the king of a castle his wife would give him more of an
allowance, but what can you do? Now it is time to help the woman.
Kill the ogre and get the Bomb Crank from the chest and head back to
where you started at.
---Go down into the water and keep heading down through the
secret passage to get a chest with a hi-potion. Go down through a
different passage to a new chest with a monster in it. The only thing
you need to be cautious of with the Black Lizard is its Stone Gaze
counter attack. For a cheap win have the black mage cast Stop on it
and beat it with physical attacks. When you win you will get a Coral
Sword. Take one step down and head right onto dry land. Keep going
right and you will find a new secret passage. There is no chest in
the next area so go down into the water and keep heading right. This
passage splits so keep heading up until you get to a new chest which
holds a remedy. Head down into the water and head right until you see
a group of rocks. There is a path between the rocks next to the wall
so take that and head up to the next stair case.---
If you don't want the treasure head right instead of going down.
In the next area stand directly above the rock in the water and go
right to through the passage. In this next area head right until you
see a group of rocks. There is a path between the rocks next to the
wall so take that and head up to the next stair case.
Baron Castle
Finally we are out of the sewers. Before we continue much
further unequip the two mages because we are about to lose them for
good. From the exit head to the left and go down the side of the
moat. You will come across a hole in the wall which you need to
enter. You will now lose the two mages and be separated from Ceo for
a little while. When you have control enter the door on the left and
go to the dungeons. You will end up finding many of the castle's
soldiers in jail. HM will get worried about Ceo and want to fight
him. If you want to check out the castle you can but if you raided it
while playing as Cecil there will be nothing to find. Head through
the door to the right of the dungeon and head for a four way
intersection. Head directly north up the stairs and keep going until
you reach the throne room. Approach the throne then try to leave and
Cecil will talk to you. But wait didn't he get his butt fried by
Bahamut? Well whatever the case Cecil is alright but is acting a
little strangely. HM will decide to leave and ends up running into
Ceo. After a bit of lying Ceo will rejoin the team so head down out
the doors. Continue heading down until you get out of the castle.
After the cutscene HM and Ceo will learn a new band.
---Tail Alert---
While you are on the first floor of the cave during the full moon you
may run into a rare monster called the Thunder Dragon. After defeating this
monster you may receive a Blue Tail which will be useful later in the game.
As you try to enter the cave you will notice a soldier blocking
your path. Ceo will try to talk to him and HM will just attack it.
Just attack and this monster should fall quickly. Once inside the
cave head right. When you come across a door just pass it, you can't
do anything inside of it until you beat this story. Keep following
the path and you will notice some odd shaking. When you come to a
intersection go up and get the steel helm from the chest. Head back
down the stairs and head right across the bridge. Why is it that
these things always happen to Ceo?
BOSS FIGHT-Tunneler
This boss uses physical attacks and so do you so there is no
"best" moon. You have to be careful of his earthquake attack, but i f
you leveled Ceo up to 25 just cast float and it can't hurt you. I
suggest using protect to help decrease the damage and use a spider
silk if you have it to slow him down. A good way to deal decent
damage to the boss is to use the band Ceo and HM learned at the
castle. Make sure if you use the band you keep a close eye on the
magic of both of them. HM doesn't have much MP so he can't use it a
lot. Just make sure you are properly healed and the boss should fall
no problem.
I would suggest heading back to the save point after the fight to
heal up. We are almost done but better safe than sorry. When ready
head past the point where the Tunneler was waiting for you and you
will find yourself back on the first floor.
Feymarch (ryfe)
Feymarch upper level
The story starts out in Mist when Rydia shows up at her home.
After a bunch of chatting Rydia will return to the Feymarch. Rydia
will go up and start talking to King and Queen. The Queen will start
acting coldly to Rydia making it clear that she is no longer welcome
in the Feymarch. Suddenly the King will start acting weirdly as well
and he will send Rydia out of the room. Soon after the annoying
little girl from before will appear and turn the two of them to stone.
You will then see the title screen. When you return to Rydia you will
see that other inhabitants of the Feymarch are stone statues as well.
Since nobody can stop us lets raid the village. If you check your
menu you will find out that everything is gone. You have no items,
small amount of gil, and your settings from Ceo's tale will be reset.
Head up and get the chest with the potion. Keep heading around the
Feymarch's upper level in a clockwise way to find another potion,
ignore the chest past the warp point for now, get a tent, and a
phoenix down. From the chest with the Phoenix down take one step
right and head straight up. You will find a secret area here. Go up
to find four chests containing ice rod, dry ether, hi potion, and 500
gil. Head back down and head to the top of the area until you find a
grey panel that will lead to the next area. This will take you to the
middle area of the Feymarch. Before you go much farther step back on
the panel to go to the previous area. Step down and get the chest
with a ether in it.
Feymarch middle level
Now head back to the middle level. This level has many different
shops as well as an inn. However everybody is stoned and can't do
business. What a bunch of slackers. From the panel head north and
you will find the inn. Keep heading to the left and enter the house
next to the inn. In here is a little glowing green circle. This is a
save point so go ahead and save. DON'T FORGET TO SAVE IN ANOTHER SAVE
FILE. YOU WILL NEED THE OTHER SAVE FLIES FOR ANOTHER STORY. From the
house with the save point head down the stairs on the left. To the
right of the second stair case is another house with no sign over it.
Go into it and go down the stairs on the left. Before you enter the
grey panel, talk to the book case to the left of it to get a Kokkol
Ore. You can use these later to get stronger weapons. Step onto the
grey panel and you will have another scene. When you can move again
talk to the two statues to continue the story.
Tomra (ryto)
For a basic outline of the city, lower left: item shop, lower
right: Inn, upper right: armory, upper left: storage building. Start
by going into the inn. The one of the piles of wood has a Bacchus's
wine in it. Now head to the armory and take the left door. The pot
to the left of the desk has a phoenix down. Now stand right in front
of the desk and go right and there will be a secret passage to the
other side of the building. To the right of the desk is a suit of
armor with another Kokkol ore. Now head outside and go to the left.
Next to the storage building is a couple of pots and one of them has a
Kokkol ore. Now head inside the building. Search the pots for a
potion in the lower left pot and a Kokkol ore in the lower right pot.
For this one you have to go below the pots and go to the far right
wall. We are done here. Now head to the forge.
Kokkol's Forge (rykf)
Go inside and go to the back of the forge to find a fireplace.
Check it to get a Kokkol Ore. Check the pots to the right to find a
hi-potion. Head upstairs and check the bookcase for a angel's
clothes. That is all for now. The thing with the Ores is that you
can bring them here to upgrade weapons. Talk to the dwarf and he will
tell you what weapon you need and how many of the ores you need to
upgrade a weapon. Now it is time to level up. Head back to the cave
with the pot in it. It is a bit north of the forge. Just land there
and use the pot if you need to heal. There are three bands that this
team can use. Luca and Rydia can combine Attack and Black Magic,
Calca and Brina can combine jive and dance, Calca and Brina and Rydia
can combine jive, dance, and analyze. With the one with just Calca
and Brina be careful because it is completely random. It can even
blow up killing the two of them. Another thing to be aware of is
their Jive and Dance abilities. Jive can use status effects and
sometimes attacks while Dance can heal the team and put status effects
on the team. The best part is that they cost no MP but they are
completely random. I would recommend having the following done before
you continue. Calca and Brina at level 10 at least. For equipment
for Luca: Tomahawk, Iron Shield, Iron Helm, Iron Armor, Iron Gloves.
For Rydia: Holy Arrows, Crossbow, Wizard's Hat, Gaia Gear, Silver
Armlet. Just get whatever you feel like buying for the dolls. To get
the Tomahawk you need to have seven ores and a crescent axe. If you
have been following this guide you should have exactly seven ores.
You can buy the axe at the dwarf castle. Then you head down to the
forge and ask the dwarf to make a battle axe. When that is done talk
to him again and ask him to make a tomahawk. This is a very good
weapon for Luca. This is a thrown weapon. This means that you can do
the same damage from the back row as well as hit monsters in the back
without losing damage.
Sylph Cave (rysc)
Sylph Cave 1st floor
Ok before we begin there is something that needs to be said.
This cave is a maze and there will be a lot of backtracking to
previous floors. Like in the Passage of the Eidolons the floor will
not hurt you. Start off by heading right to find two chests with a
spider silk and a potion. We will get that third chest later so don't
worry about it. Now head down and left and down at the intersection.
This will take you to the second floor. While wandering around the
cave if you find the Soul and Spirit enemies try to win the cursed
ring from them. It is a rare drop but is very useful in the later
stories.
Sylph cave 2nd floor
Alright here the cave splits into three sections, which I will
refer to as the north section and the south section. I will start
with the north section so if you want to go south go past the --- part
of the walkthrough
---North section---
From the stairs go around to the right until you come to the
stairs to the next floor. Don't worry there are no chests in this
area.
Sylph cave 3rd floor
Without moving head left through the passage. When you hit the
wall head up and get the two chests with an echo herbs and phoenix
down. To get the third chest step in front of the bottom chest and
follow the path right to get the clown's clothes. Now head back to
the stairs using the secret passage we went through the first time.
The reason for doing this is to get our aim right. When you exit the
secret passage DO NOT go up the stairs. Instead continue heading
right through another secret passage. This will lead to a stairwell
leading back to the 2nd floor
Sylph cave 2nd floor
Head to the right and follow the path until you see a chest with
an ether in it. Keep going down and you will see a bunch of open
chests, one closed chest, and a hole. Get the chest with a tent in it
and work your way to the hole.
Sylph cave 3rd floor
Get the three chests around you to get a hi-potion, bronze
hourglass, and 800 gil. Now head up and head left through another
secret passage that leads to a grey warp panel. Step on it to go to
the next area.
Sylphs' cache
Now we get to loot four chests. What a nice day to be us, huh?
Open the chests for a ether, horned helmet, mythril knife, and a hi-
potion. Don't forget to equip that nice little helmet on Luca. Now
head to the left to find a grey panel that leads outside. If this is
the first section you did go back to the 2nd floor where we choose to
go this way.
---South section---
If you decide to do the south section first or have already done
the north then head down from the stairs and you will find a staircase
leading back up to the first floor.
Sylph cave 1st floor
There are two ways you can go on this floor. Let's start by going
to the right to where that save point is. After saving head up until
you hit the wall then head right. This will take us to a secret
passage leading to the chest we had to skip earlier. Pick up the S00
gil and head back to the stairs. This time head to the left and you
will see the stairs leading back down. Before we take them lets
continue left and head up to get a dagger out of a chest. Go back to
the stairs we passed and go to the next floor.
Sylph cave 2nd floor
To our right is a chest you would have to be blind to miss so
open it to get a phoenix down. Head to the left and follow the path
until you reach an intersection. Head to the right and go up the
stairs.
After the fight you will receive the Agarite. This is what you
need to repair the Falcon. You now have two choices. You can either
walk back and work your way through the maze or you can have Rydia use
warp to jump floors back to the beginning. I suggest option two
making a stop on the way to use the pot to restore magic and health.
When you get outside your destination will be the Falcon. As a note
when you get on the ship Rydia's tale will be over. When you board
the ship one of two things will happen. Option 1) you did not get the
three mythril items and Calca and Brina will be used to repair the
ship. Option 2) you retrieved the three items, the ship is fixed, and
so are Calca and Brina. Whichever one you did the result is that you
will end up in a two part fight
Go into the town and head toward the inn. Behind the inn is a
house with a bunny standing in front. Talk to him to enter the
challenge dungeon.

Challenge Dungeon 4th floor
Go up and talk to the monster for a boss fight.
Fabul (yafal)
You start off with the title screen then immediately start with a
fight. You will easily defeat the three monks with regular attacks.
After the fight Yang will give some constructive criticism on the
monks and his daughter, Ursula, will come out. She will ask to train
with Yang and he will not allow her. While she tries to convince him
the Chancellor will come out with urgent news for Yang. After a bit
more talking you will have control. Like before all of your settings
will be reset. You really would think that the king would have more
than 300 gil even if he is a monk! Any way we now have to head to the
throne room. Head up through the door and you will see three paths.
The one on the left leads to the inn and item shops, the one on the
right leads to armor and weapons, and the one in the middle leads
further into the castle. There is a save point in the Inn room so go
ahead and save. DON'T FORGET TO SAVE IN ANOTHER SAVE FILE. YOU WILL
NEED THE OTHER SAVE FLIES FOR ANOTHER STORY. Head back out and take
the middle path. Straight ahead is the throne room but we have a
detour to make first. Head left or right and go down. Go through the
door and you will be outside with two towers one either side
West Tower
We have a room with pots and three chests. The chests have a 2
potions and a phoenix down. With the two pots by themselves the left
one has a Hermes Sandal in it. Go up the stairs. There is nothing on
this floor unless you want to talk to the monks. On the third floor
is Yang's bedroom but there is nothing here
East Tower
There is nothing on the first floor except some monks. In the
bottom pot on the second floor is a Bacchus's wine. On the third
floor is a chest containing a hi-potion
When you are done exploring the towers head to the throne room.
You will then have a scene in which Yang finds out that Baron is
starting to act suspicious once again. Suddenly a monk will come in
and tell Yang that his daughter has escaped from the castle. Yang
will decide to go after and two of the monks will join him. Head to
the left and search the pot for a bomb fragment. Go right past the
throne and you will see an oddly colored thing on the floor. Step on
it to open the hidden door. Follow the path down until you can't go
anymore then go straight right till you find three chests with a
potion, a tent, and S00 gill. Now we are done in the castle so head
back to where we started the story and go down to get out of the
castle. If you want to level up a little you can but it doesn't
matter. One thing you might want to do is get some more advanced
equipment. Just remember that monks take more damage than normal
because they can only equip light armor. When you are ready there are
two things you can do. The first thing is walk to the mountains in
the west. The other option is to head to the east and find the
chocobo forest and take it to the mountain
---Tail Alert---
While wandering around during the New Moon you might find a Red
Dragon. If you kill this monster you might find an item called a Red Tail
that has uses in later stories.
Impact Crater Upper Wall
Head right and around the rock and you will see a little brown
mound of dirt. You use these to get from level to level. Hop on the
first one and head to the left to get a chest with a Maiden's Kiss.
Head down to the next mound and head to the right. Hop on the next
mound and it will take you to the next area.
Fabul (yafa2)
When you reach the throne room you will get one of the annoying
little "'I told you so"' speeches from the Duke and Ursula will be told
to stay there. We will now enter a very familiar scenario for those
who played the original game. For those who are new we are about to
have a lot of fighting to do. The first fight is against 2 Baron
Marines and a Captain. Kill one of the Marines and then kill the
Captain. If you kill both of the Marines first the Captain will run.
Note that the Captain will not attack you, he will just order the
Marines around. You might notice that a 3rd monk will join the fight
in place of Ursula. The second fight consists of a Sahagin, Leshy,
and Domovoi. Just use regular attacks and they will fall quickly.
The third fight is another Captain and Marine set. Just use the same
tactics as before. The fourth fight a simple Gargoyle. The fifth
fight is a repeat of the second. Yang will then hear a voice and the
scene will switch to the Crystal chamber. After some chatting there
is a
BOSS FIGHT: Kain
This is another two part fight. For the first part just attack
with Ursula and keep an eye on your health. Kain"s Jump attack will
do a lot of damage so be careful. Unlike the first game you can lose
this part so you might want to put Ursula in the back row to decrease
the damage. After some time Yang will join the fight. This is good
for two reasons. Reason one, this gives you another attacker and
reason two, gives Kain someone else to attack. Just keep attacking
and healing and the treacherous jerk should fall
After the fight Kain will jump over your head and steal the
crystal. Kain will say that this time he is not being controlled and
is gathering the crystals of his own free will and leave. Yang will
then sulk and his daughter will cheer him up. He will then decide to
go after the crystal. Ursula will want to go with him and once again
Yang will say no. And once again Ursula will force herself into the
team. Go all the way down and out of the castle. Outside you will
see a ship to your right. Head to it to continue the story. Make
sure that you have all the items you need before you go on the ship.
You will get the usual departure scene with Sheila threatening Yang.
After some talking you will be attacked by some monsters. After the
attack you will continue your trip and start a little race with a
Damcyan ship. You will lose because your ship ran out of fuel. Nice
excuse, huh? Anyway you will have to stop at an island to try to get
some more fuel. Yang will run off by himself to try to get some Palm
Oil to get the ship running. It will turn night and you will have
control of Ursula. The sailor to the left of the mast will let you
rest for free. The sailor to the right of the mast will sell you some
items and equipment should you need it. If you want to buy the Metal
Knuckles you can. Going down the stairs in the upper left corner of
the ship will lead you to a save point. Try to leave the ship and the
captain will try to stop her. She runs off anyway and the three monks
will follow her.
---Go back down and at the intersection head down and you will
see a little cross in the trees. Go right and it will take you to a
cottage. Head back through and go down. Go left to the next area.
Going left from here will take you back to the beginning of this
section. From here go right and get a chest with a Rune Armlet. Go
back and go down and right to the next area. Here we have another
intersection. Go up from here and you will get to another area. Here
we will have another intersection. Going up will take you back to
where the save point was. Go right and you will get a chest with a
Hell Claws in it. Keep going left and you will get to another
intersection. Have I mentioned that I hate this forest? Both ways
end up at the same spot so pick one and go. When you have a choice
between going left to a new area and going right, go right. This will
take you to a spot with a chest containing a Phoenix down. Head back
to the left and enter the next area. We will now be back at the save
point.
Go back down and at the intersection head down and you will see a
little cross in the trees. Go right and it will take you to a
cottage. Head back through and go down. Go left to the next area.
Going left from here will take you back to the beginning of this
section. From here go right and get a chest with a Rune Armlet. Go
back and go down and right to the next area. Here we have another
intersection. You need to go down to continue through the forest. Go
down again to get a chest with a bronze Hourglass. Go back up and go
all the way left to the next area. Keep going left to the next area.
Go down from here and go up to the save point. Make the moon whatever
phase you want because we have a boss coming up. From here go right
to the next area. Follow the path around and you will get to an area
with palm trees. Talk to the trees for.
Once the fight is over you will get the Palm Oil you need.
Ursula will also get to become her father's student. Plus you will
get a new band. Happy days for all. Now we just have to get back to
the ship. Just retrace your steps and you should do fine. When you
get back to the beach unequip the three monks. We are almost done
with Yang's story and if you don't unequip them you can't use the
equipment in later stories. When you board the ship the crew will
refine the oil and you will be back on the way to Baron. A scene will
show the two of them acting concerned and the story will end with the
ship heading toward a giant whirlpool.
---Tail Alert---
Those who are familiar with the old game will remember the pub to the
northwest of the item shop. Underneath the pub are rooms where you can watch
girls dance. This time there are three floors to it. You walk into the pub
and talk to the first girl on the left and for 10,000 you can get the
Member's Writ. Talk to the man to the north of her to use it. And no these
can be used multiple times. Follow the path and talk to the man behind the
counter to watch the very disturbing show. Afterwards go through the door in
the back right of the room and talk to the old woman to buy the Member's Card
for 50,000. Head back out and talk to the man next the right wall. Tell him
no and show him the Member's Card to gain access to the lower level. Walk
past the first guy and talk to the guy on the left to start the show. After
it is done you have two doors to go through. The door on the right leads to
two girls who will sell you some armor for Leonora. The door on the left
leads to a girl who will sell you the VIP Card for 99,999 gil. Head back
down and talk to the guy behind the counter on the right. Talk to the rabbit
to get the show started. As you leave you will find a chest with a Black
Tail in it. Despite the money issues this is the easiest tail to get.
Toria Castle
Head up and go to the room with the seven Epopts in it. After
some chatting and questioning the Epopts motives, Palom will be asked
to rest and will be taken to the infirmary. After your rest save and
head back to the Epopt"s room. After a bit of talking you will be
taken into the crystal room. Leonora will try to leave and Palom will
stop her because it is dangerous. The scene will shift to the Epopts
and the annoying brat will appear. The Epopts will argue with her and
the scene will shift back to Palom. Leonora will show him a secret
passage out of the castle. Follow the path until you reach the Toria
Castle waterway
---Town Floor---
Follow the path until you reach an intersection. Go to the right
and search the grass at the end for an X-potion. Head back and go up.
When you reach the top go to the right into the house and follow the
secret path. Keep following the path until you find a well. Talk to
the well to heal your MP and HP. Go up a little and go in the grass
behind the house. Search for a chest containing a Blue Fang. Go
right from the well and head up. Search the two pots for a Spider
Silk and a Ruby Ring. Head left through the house and follow the path
to the next intersection. Head up and left to find a pot with 6800
gil in it. Head all the way to the right from here to find a pot with
a Hermes Sandals. Head back to the left, go down, and head to the
right and follow the path to the next floor
---Strongarm Floor---
Go right at the intersection to find a chest with a Phoenix Down
in it. Head back to the intersection and continue up. At the next
intersection head up and follow the path to the next intersection. Go
up for a chest with a Lilith's Kiss then go back and head right.
Follow the path and at the next intersection go right. At the next
intersection go right and down for a chest with a Cottage. Head back
and go up for a chest with a Silver Apple. Go back two intersections
and go down. At the next intersection go to the right and follow the
path to the next floor.
---Restorative Floor---
This is the only room other than beating the boss from which you
can leave the dungeon. This floor also has a healing panel to the
left of the teleporter. Head up from the healing spot and through the
door to the next floor.
---Flan Floor---
1 think it is very obvious what you will fight on this floor.
Follow the path to the right and go down into the little room with a
bookcase. Search the pots on the left for a Ether. Head down and
follow the path until you reach a dead end. To the left is a little
burn mark. Step on it and go to the left. Go to the top and go left
for the next path. Take one step down and go left for the last secret
path. Go down and you will see a room full of pillars. Search the
left wall for a secret path leading to a chest with 5000 Gil. Go back
to the room with the pillars and work your way to the bottom right
corner. Follow the path to the stairs to the next floor.
---Perplexion Floor---
1 hate this floor. It is a maze so that makes it hard to
navigate. Head to the left and go down until you find a chest with a
Tent in it. Go to the left and when you can't go further go down.
Follow the path and you will find a chest with a Coeurl Whisker in it.
While standing above the chest go all the way up to the top of the
room for a chest with a Unicorn Horn. Head back down and go to the
left where there are three rocks right next to each other. Go down
until you see a chest on the left. Grab it for a potion then go back
to the beginning of the floor. Head down against the right wall, go
left when you can, then continue going down. Once you hit the bottom
wall go left and follow the path until you hit the bottom wall again.
Head all the way to the left to find the stairs to the next floor.
---Maze Floor---
From the entrance go all the way up to the upper left corner.
Here is a Magic Pot that you can use to level up a bit. From the pot
go to the right and follow the path all the way to the right and
follow the path to the next intersection. Go down and then go right.
Follow this path to the next intersection. Go up and right to find
the stairs to the next floor.
---Strength Floor---
Walk straight up from the starting point to find a chest with a
Killer Bow. Now go all the way left and go down for a pot with a hi-
potion. Now go back to where the Killer Bow was. Go down a bit and
look for a crack in the floor on the right. Stand on it and go to the
right through a secret passage. Head up from here to find a chest
with a Silver Hourglass. Go back to where the Bow was and go left and
up to find the stairs to the next floor.
---Bridge Floor---
Head directly right and grab the chest with the Decoy in it. Now
go down and follow the path to the next intersection. Go down and
left for a chest with a Bestiary. Get back on the bridge and go to
the right. Work your way all the way to the right to find a lot of
crates and a chest with a Dry Ether. Now keep going down and follow
the path to the stairs. Before you take them head up behind the
stairs for a chest with a White Fang. Now go back and take the
stairs.
---Convoy Floor---
This floor is a bunch of ships connected by bridges. Go down and
take the bridge on the left for a chest with a Gaia Drum. Now go back
to the starting ship and take the bottom left bridge. At the next
intersection go down and grab the chest with the Cross. Keep going
right and go down for a chest with a Gold Needle. Now return to the
starting point. From the starting point go right and follow the path
to a Ether. Go down from the chest and take the bridge on the right
for a chest with a Bronze Hourglass. Now take the bridge to the right
of the Ether and follow the path to the boat with the stairs to the
next floor.
---Magic Floor---
This is a very simple floor. Head up from the stairs and go
right for a chest with a Mythril Staff, Head to the left and follow
the path to a chest with a Soma Drop and the stairs to the next floor.
---Last Room---
Head down from the starting point to find a save spot. You might
want to make the moon Waxing for this boss fight. When you are ready
go left or right around the center of the room and go up the stairs
where the guardian is waiting
Eblan (eteb)
You will start off fighting against four Ninjas. Just use the
Ninjutsu Flood and twice and that should be all. Edge will then start
talking to the four that he thoroughly destroyed and then one of them
will notice something. Edge will look and see two moons in the sky.
Then we will go to the title screen. Now we will go to the throne
room where Seneschal is acting crazy. Edge will tell him to calm down
and then he will leave to see what is happening. Don't forget that
all of your settings are reset. Once again we get a king with no
money. What kind of world is this! Anyway there is nothing on this
floor except the armor and weapon shops so just head down. On this
floor we have the Inn and the item shops. To the left is a save point
so make good use of it. DON'T FORGET TO SAVE IN ANOTHER SAVE FILE.
YOU WILL NEED THE OTHER SAVE FLIES FOR ANOTHER STORY. One thing to do
before continuing is to completely unequip Edge. We are about to
lose him for a bit and it would not do to let that nice equipment go
to waste. Head to where all the pillars are and head down to reach
the outside of the castle. Now we get to raid the towers. Start by
heading left to the tower. From where you start take two steps back
toward the door. From there head right through a secret passage.
This will get you a chest with a ether. Now go back and go up the
stairs. There is nothing in the pots so just go to the left and when
you hit the wall go down. This takes you to the other chest
containing a Phoenix down. Head back and leave the tower and go to
the right one. Once in the right tower head behind the column in the
upper left corner and go left. This takes you to a chest with Eye
drops in it. Go back and go up the stairs. Go right and push the
button to open the door. Go down against the wall to get around the
stairs. The two chests to your left have a ether and potion. There
is nothing in the pots so get the chest on the left with an antidote.
Go down the stairs, grabbing the maiden's kiss on the way and go back
up to get the phoenix down. Now head out of the tower and go to where
the double wooden doors are that lead into the castle. Make sure the
Edge is unequipped and head down. As he tries to leave the four
ninjas will stop him and insist that they be the ones to go. Edge
will agree on the condition that they return alive no matter what.
You will now have a choice on which ninja you want to play as first.
I will choose the order of Izayoi, Tsukinowa, Zangetsu, and Gekkou.
Whatever order you want to do is up to you.
---Izayoi--- (etiz)
You will start out as a disguised Epopt Trainee. After the
talking you will have control of Izayoi. Go ahead and equip her with
the armor that you got from Edge. The only thing of interest in this
city is talking to Palom in front of the Item shop. When you are
ready head to the inn and go right to find a stairway into the water.
To continue just stand still until one of the girls get sick. She
will start to think about a tower built for training. If you played
the previous story you know what tower she is talking about. Before
we go to the tower head through the waterway to the left and continue
to the back of the town. At the back of town is a staircase leading
onto dry ground. Head left through the trees and you will find a
grassy area with chest's containing a potion, ether, 300 gil, and a
hi-potion. Now head out of the town and go to the chocobo forest
north of town. Grab one of the Chocobos and head south to the tower.
Tower of Trials outside
Head right and go in the door to find a magic pot and three
chests with a potion, Bronze Breastplate, and ether. With that magic
pot right here this is a good place to level up a bit. When you are
ready head to the right and head up the ladder. Keep following the
path and you will come to a second door. Go inside and get the six
chests with a ether, crossbow, bronze hourglass, potion, ice arrows,
and a tent. Head up the stairs and get the eye drops and go down out
the door. Go right and continue following the path and you will find
a door with a save point and a chest with a thorn whip. Save and head
back out and go right up the ladder. At the top of the ladder you
will have a fight with a zu. Just attack it and heal when necessary
and you will win easily. She will then look and see the tower of
Babil glowing and say she has to get back to Eblan. She will then see
a ship and decide to get a ride on it. Now you have to head back
down. When you get to the ship make sure that you unequip the best
armor from her. You can leave the weapons on her. When you get to
the ship there will be a scene where she basically bribes the sailors
to let her on. After a bit of talking her story will end.
---Tsukinowa--- (etts)
You start out in Mysidia this time under the guise of a boy named
Lapin. After a bit of lecturing from the professor Porom will come
out and tell him to go to the Hall of Prayer. The professor will
leave and after Porom leaves you will have control. First off equip
him with the best armor that you have. There is nothing in the town
so go right and talk to the boy in the red shirt and let him cast toad
on you. Now follow the path in the center of town and go until you
see a mage guarding the door. Talk to him and he will run away. Go
inside and listen to the meeting. When it is done go back to the boy
and have him turn you back to normal. Now go back inside the Hall and
talk to the black mage in the middle of the group. After talking he
will give you a boomerang. Now head outside of the town by going down
from the Hall. Our destination is the Mount Ordeals to the east of
the town. Just follow the winding path and you will end up at a
forest. You can't miss the mountain so just go inside
---Zangetsu--- (etza)
This time we start off in the Dwarf castle. Once the scene is
done one thing is very obvious. Zangetsu really needed to study up on
Dwarven customs. Head to the right and go up the stairs. Now head
between the two counters and enter the pub. Talk to everyone and you
will find out our next destination is the top of the castle. Now head
out of the pub and take the stairs in the upper left corner of the
room. Search the pots in this room for an Emergency exit. Now go to
the far left side of the room and buy any items you might need. When
you are ready go to the stairs in the lower left corner to go to the
tower. Go above the dwarf and get the chest with the Shuriken. Now
head down and leave the tower. Go right into the other tower and get
the chest with the potion. Now head out of the tower and go left
until you find the stairs. Go up and a scene will occur where
Zangetsu will jump off the castle. And those guards complained about
his jumping ability. Apparently it is not the jumping that is the
problem, it's the landing.
---Gekkou--- (etge)
Impact Crater Floor
Gekkou will start off at the meteor near Fabul. Soon after the
scene will change showing some monks from Fabul confronting the
annoying girl. Two of them will attack her and get beat badly. She
will run off and the monks will chase after her. Save the game at the
point nearby and equip him with the armor. Head down and open the
chest with Potion and then hop on the mound of dirt to the right to go
across the rocks. Head up and talk to the two fallen monks. Then hop
up on the mound and get the chest with a Crescent Axe. Equip it and
head to the left to the next area
Impact Crater Lower Wall
Head left to the mound and take the other mound right next to you
for a chest with a Maiden's Kiss. Head back down and go left until
you see a mound right next to a chest. Grab the chest with a Kenpo Gi
and step on the mound. Go left and get the chest with the Steel
Headplate and hop down using the mound. Head right and up and there
will be another scene with the monks and girl moving away. Head to
the left and use the mound to get to the next level. Get the Shuriken
from the chest and go right to the mound that will take you to the
next area.
Impact Crater Middle Wall
Take the mound to the left at the top of the slope and it will
lead to a chest with a hi-potion. Take the mound up and go right and
up the slope to get the other chest with a power armlet. Hop on the
mound to the right and head left ignoring the mound right next to you
and the mound above you and take the mound leading down. Here there
are two mounds so take one on the left which leads to the save point.
Take the mound directly above you and it will lead to the chest with a
ether in it. Go right and take the mound to the right. This will put
you back down where there are three mounds to choose from. Take the
one on the right and go up the hill to get the chest with the tent in
it. Go to the left and get on the mound and go up the ramp to the
left. Go right and take the mound to the next area.
---Edge---
Edge will be lying in his bed wondering about his moon and
feeling something is wrong will jump out of a hole in his wall. He
will see that the Tower of Babil is back online and leave the castle.
Don't forget to reequip Edge because if you have listened to me he
will have no armor. If you want to fight around a little bit go ahead
but when you are ready head west from the castle to find the Cave of
Eblan.
---Tail Alert---
During the New Moon phase you can find the Behemoth. After fighting
this monster you may find a Purple Tail which has uses in the later tales.
Go left and get the chest with a Kogarasu in it. Give it to Edge
and head back right and go in the door. In here is a save point and a
secret passage in the upper right corner of the room leading to a Soma
drop. Save and head back out of the room. Head up and find the
secret passage in the left wall after Edge is done thinking. It
should be in the lower left corner of this little rectangle area. It
will lead to a chest with a cottage. Now head up the stairs into the
tower of Babil.
Tower of Babil (ettb)
Tower of Babil 1st floor
Head up and you will see a blue circle on the right that will
warp you outside of the cave. Go up to the top of the stairs and Edge
will ninja his way into the tower. Head up and left to get the chest
with a hi-potion. Head back down and go around to the left and you
will get into a fight.
MINI BOSS FIGHT: 2 Belphegor
Before you can even get a turn Tsukinowa will appear and join in
the fight. This will allow a band between Edge and Tsukinowa using
Attack for both of them. Just watch out for their tornado attack
which will reduce your HP to single digits
After the fight Tsukinowa will join the team. His HP and MP will
be restored to full. Keep going around the path and you will find a
chest with a Great Bow. Keep going around and you will find a
walkway. At the end of a walkway there will be another fight.
Now Zangetsu will join the team with full HP and MP. Keep going
to the left and you will come to an intersection. Head down and get
the chest with the Partisan in it. Give it to Zangetsu and head back
up and continue heading left. Before you reach the left hand wall you
will have one more fight.
Mysidia (pomy)
You will start out in Mysidia in the Hall of Prayers. The Elder
will ask where Palom is and Porom will go fetch him. Palom will get
angry and run off. You will now have control of Porom. Don't forget
to change your settings. Head to the bottom left corner of the town
and you will find him hiding in some bushes. Talk to him and he will
run off. Now go to the right and he will be in front of the item
shop. Talk to him and he will run off again. This time go around to
the back of the item shop and he will be there. Talk to him one more
time and he will agree to come back. After some talking with the
elder you will go to the title screen. You then switch to a scene on
a boat with Palom and Porom heading to Kaipo. Porom will lecture
Palom and then the ship will arrive at the destination. You will now
have control of both of the twins. Don't forget to organize their
magic. Before you move much farther don't forget to save. DON'T
FORGET TO SAVE IN ANOTHER SAVE FILE. YOU WILL NEED THE OTHER SAVE
FLIES FOR ANOTHER STORY The village of Kaipo if directly to your left.
Once you are inside the city head toward the back where two tombs are.
Examine them for a quick scene. Go across the bridge to the right and
in the top pot is a potion. That is all there is in the village so
head out. From the village head up and a little to the right to reach
the waterway
Underground Falls
Hop in and go for a bath.
Mist (pomi)
Once inside the village your destination is the house at the top
of town, but we have a few stops to make. Go down to where the
equipment shops are and head to the right. You will see a little
indent in the trees. Go in it and the secret passage will take you to
two hidden chests in the grass with 2 bomb crank. Head out of the
passage and head up until you see another grassy area. In it is a
bomb fragment. Go left and go inside the house to meet Rydia. Palom
will ask her suddenly if she would take him to the Feymarch. After
talking Rydia will join the team. Make sure that you set up Rydia's
magic. At least this time she has some summons to use. When done
head up and go into her fireplace. Head up and go to the right to get
to a room with three chests containing a silver hourglass, dry ether,
and cottage. Now head to the right and head down to another chest
with a Soma drop. Now head back to the Falcon and get on the ship.
When Cid asks if you are ready to go say yes and you will go to the
underworld and stop by the Dwarf Castle.
Pororn will start to complain about being by herself and the elder
will show up. After some more talking the Lunar Whale will take off.
Pororn and the elder will go down stairs for a familiar scene for those
who have played Edge's tale. When the story is done you will be left
with the two rnages in front of the Hall of Prayer. Head down and left
to the weapon shops and pick up a new bow and a thing of Holy Arrows.
If you want to get armor too that is ok. Don't worry too much about
the two rnages. Our new destination is the mountain to the east of
here. Just follow the winding path and you will come to a forest that
circles a mountain. In the lower left area of the forest is a
circular forest that is home to a chocobo forest.
---Tail Alert---
If you wander around to the north of Mount Ordeals during a Waxing
Moon you may find a White Dragon. When you kill this powerful creature it
might drop a White Tail that you can use in later stories.
---Tail Alert---
While you play through Edward's story make sure that you check
everything. While looking you might find something called a Bronze Tail or a
Silver Tail. These might also drop from some enemies at the end of the
fight. When you are in the Waterway Entrance South area you might find a
person who will trade you a Silver Tail for 5 Bronze Tails and a Gold Tail
for 5 Silver Tails. The Gold Tail has a use in later stories, the Bronze and
Silver do not.
Damcyan (edda)
The story will start off with the Chancellor demanding to see the
king. The guards will refuse to let him by and Harley will show up
and tell him that she would tell Edward what he needed. Edward will
tell her to take care of the problem and she will leave. Edward will
look at the moon and the title screen will show as well as a scene of
a falling star. Harley will ask for an investigation of the object
and she will leave. The scene will shift to nighttime and the
Chancellor will approach Edward. Edward will ask about the messenger
to Baron and about Harley's investigation and will get unpleasant
answers. After the Chancellor leaves you will have control of Edward.
Adjust your settings and you will notice for once we will have a king
with some decent pocket money. Head to the left and go up the stairs
to find Harley's room. Talk to the girl and you will be able to
enter. Go up to the table and you will be able to read Harley's
diary. Go back down to the throne room and go all the way to the
right to find more stairs. Go down to find a storage room. Grab the
chest with the spider silk and go down the stairs. Head back up the
stairs and before moving go down and follow the secret passage to a
chest with a Bomb Core. Go down the stairs and check the pot between
the counters for a potion. Now head back up to the throne room. Go
up and you will find Edward's room. Get in the bed and agree to rest.
Edward will dream about Anna and then wake up. Head all the way down
and you will find that there are people running the shops now. Buy
anything that you might need. When you are done head left and go down
to get to the outside of the castle. Go down and talk to the guard to
have him move. As you try to leave the Chancellor will appear and
question you. He will then have the three guards join you on your
little trip. You will now be able to save. DON'T FORGET TO SAVE IN
ANOTHER SAVE FILE. YOU WILL NEED THE OTHER SAVE FLIES FOR ANOTHER
STORY. Before you go to the meteor head back into the castle. Step
one spot backwards onto the sand and hug the castle wall and walk to
the right. Here you will find a treasure room. To the right of the
first set of bars is a button on the wall that will open a door. Go
through it and get the chests with hi-potion, phoenix down, and
longsword. Go back out of the wall and go to the left in front of the
bars to find a staircase. Open the six chests with phoenix down,
potion, potion, silver armlet, eye drops, and a potion and check the
pots for a potion, hi-potion, Antarctic wind. When you are ready go
to the right and you will find the meteor.
Impact Crater (edic)
Impact Crater Upper Wall
Go all the way down from the entrance and you will find a magic
pot near a chest with a potion in it. This would be a good time to
level up a bit using the pot as a base. When you are ready head up
and stay on the right. At the first intersection go down and get the
chest with the hi-potion. Head back up and continue right. Head down
and at the next intersection go right to the Iron Armor. Head back
and go down. Down here you will find one of the soldiers that came
with Harley. Keep following the path down and you will find the next
area
Baron (edba)
When you reach Baron first go into the town to raid it. Head
right, going in front of the inn and check the pot for a potion. Go
into the inn and go to the back and examine the swords on the wall to
open a door. Go through and get the chests containing an echo herbs,
Cross, and gold needle. Head up from the inn and you will see two
barrels and two pots. Search the one on top for a potion. Head up
and go up the stairs to the top of the waterfall area. Go down into
the water and head to the bottom of the water area for two chests with
a bronze hourglass and a remedy. Head back out of the water and go
down the stairs. Follow the water way down and cross the two bridges
to get on a grassy area. Head up through the arch and you will see a
bunch of trees. Take one step left from the arch and head up to the
trees. Head right to find a secret passage in the trees. Head around
to the left and you will a dark grassy area with hidden chests
containing a tent, phoenix down, and a hi-potion. Now head out of the
town and enter the castle.
Baron Castle (edbc)
At the front gate the soldiers will let you inside when they know
who you are. There is nowhere for you to go but to the throne room.
Once inside Edward will start talking to Cecil. Edward will notice
something weird and he will talk about the meteor. He will then start
asking what Cecil thinks about the return of the moon and Cecil will
not give a clear answer. After talking about Rosa and Ceodore the two
men will exchange some gifts. When Edward places his flowers he has
an odd expression that makes Cecil question him. Edward will mention
that there is nothing wrong and you will leave. Edward will say it is
time to go home so head back to the boat. Before you board the boat
make sure that you unequip the three soldiers. Back on the boat
Edward will reveal that the person that they talked to was not Cecil.
He will then reveal the two purposes of his gift. The first was to
test if Cecil was the real Cecil. The second purpose was to eavesdrop
on his conversations. You will then listen to a conversation between a
man and a woman. After a bit of talking between the two Edwards and
Harley's attention will turn to the gift that Cecil gave them. It
turns out it is the same thing that Cecil and Kain took to Mist in the
original game. After that you will see the whirlpool of Leviathan
which Yang ran into. Then the title screen will show and you will
have the chance to save.
Edward's Challenge Dungeon (edcd)
This dungeon is a bit of a pain. This entire dungeon revolves around money.
Also if you end up with more money then you came in with you cannot take it
out. Also the locations of the people wandering the halls and the contents
of treasure chests and even some monsters change with each play through.
Let's get started by going to the upper left corner of Kaipo. Talk to the
rabbit and get started.
There are ten ways to make money in this dungeon. Five of them are to
find a specific item and sell them to a person in the dungeon. These items
are a Poet's Notebook, a Gil Bird Egg, a Whisperweed Seed, a Bard's Lyre, and
an Adamantine Pig. As a note you must talk to the pub owner to be able to
take the pig with you. These five ways are guaranteed to give you a good
amount of money. The next three ways are a bit more risky. Wandering around
the dungeon are a man who asks you for 10,000 gil and a woman who asks for
5,000. If you give them the money they will leave after you exit the area
and reappear somewhere else in the dungeon. Remember that there is a chance
that they will not pay you back and you will end up losing money. The other
risky way is to go to the Chocobo room and talk to all of them. Some will
have money on them and others will take it away. The final two ways to make
money are the ones that we are familiar with, killing monsters and looting
the dungeon. When you are looting the dungeon make sure that you check
EVERYTHING. Some items will be hidden inside the tables and armor in the
rooms. Now I will give you a general description of the dungeon.
Challenge Dungeon 1st floor/Basement.
After you exit the hallway you will be in a big room with eight exits
in it. There are three doors on the north wall, two stairs leading down on
each of the side walls and the stairs in the middle of the room lead to the
next floor. The bottom set of stairs on the left side are connected to the
top set of stairs on the right side. The top set of stairs on the right side
lead to a room with a boss in it. There is a secret path on the left wall of
this room that leads to a chest so make sure to get it. Back in the main
room the bottom set of stairs on the right wall leads to a treasure room so
loot it. Now we go to the north wall. The door on the left leads to an old
man who will ask for the Poet's Notebook. The one in the middle leads to the
person who will buy the Gil Bird's Egg and a woman who will sell you items.
The door on the right will lead to the man who will buy the Whisperweed Seed.
Now go back to the main room and take the center stairs to the next floor.
Challenge Dungeon 2nd floor
Once again we have multiple exits. On the first floor before you go
up the stairs in front of you there are two exits under the floor on each
side of the stairs. Look for the weird break in the shadows to find where
they are. Both of these lead in a circle and also lead to the third floor.
If you take the one on the right it takes you to a room with a bunch of
shelves. The one on the left leads to a room with a person who buys the
Bard's Lyre from you and another sales person. Past each of these rooms is a
corridor and in the middle of it is a door going down which leads to the
third floor. On the upper section of the main floor are four exits. The one
on in bottom right and left corners are elevators that will take you in
between the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors for 1000 gil a trip. Right now you can
only use the one on the bottom right, the other one is at the 4th floor. Now
for the two doors on the north wall. The door on the left leads to a series
of creatures that will charge you S00 gil to pass. There may or may not be
anything in here so enter at your own risk. If you choose to go to the back
make sure that you have done everything else in the castle because if you
leave the room and decide to come back then all of the guards will come back.
The door on the right leads to a small room with a robed figure in it.
Challenge Dungeon 3rd floor
This is a very short floor. On the left side of the screen are two
doors. The one on the top is the elevator and the one on the bottom leads to
a boss you will have to pay some money to fight. In the middle of the screen
is a door on the top that will take you to the second floor. On the right
are two more doors. The one on the top is the other elevator and the one on
the bottom will take you to the Chocobos.
Mount Ordeals
Head down the path grabbing the chests with the Mythril Gloves
and cottage. When you get to the bottom Kain will not want to leave
the mountain. A voice will then talk to you and you will have to head
back to where you started.
Baron (kaba)
Now we get to look for treasure in the town. Head for the front
of town and go towards the inn. To the right of the entrance is a pot
with a hi-potion. Now go into the inn and head for the back of the
building. Talk to a pair of crossed swords on the wall to open a door
leading to a ether, gold needle, and a unicorn horn. Now head out of
the inn and go towards the back of the town. In one of the barrels is
a potion. Now head up, cross the bridge, and go up the stairs. You
will see a stairway into the water so take it and go all the way to
the end. In this area you will find hidden chests containing an
phoenix down and a hi-potion. Now head back out of the water and work
your way to the far right hand side of the city. Head up through an
archway and you will see a man in an area surrounded by trees. Take
one step to the left after standing in front of the man and head
directly up until the trees stop you. Head to the right into a secret
passage which will lead to a hidden area on the left side of town.
Wander around this area and you will find hidden chests holding a
tent, phoenix down, and spider silk. That is all for the town of
Baron so head outside. Before you enter the castle make sure you
unequip Kain. When you are ready head inside.
Mist (kami)
When you say yes you will take off and the scene will change to
Ceodore and the Hooded Man in the village of mist. The two of them
will talk about how the mountain to the east of the village has been
caved in. Head outside to the left and save. Don't forget to equip
the best armor on Ceo and the second best on the HM. Once inside
there are a few things that we need to do. First go down until you
see the armor and weapon shops. To the right of the shop you will see
an indention in the trees. Go into it to find a secret passage
leading to a Heavenly Wrath and Arctic Wind. Head back out of the
passage and head up until you see another dark grassy area. In here
is a chest with a Bomb Crank. Now head left and talk to the grave for
a little scene. Then head inside the house to the left of the grave.
Once inside go into the fireplace and go to the right to find a secret
passage. At the end are three chests with a potion, hi-potion, and a
phoenix down. Before you go left go right through another secret
passage that leads to a Blood Sword. Now that we are done raiding the
town exit out of the east exit to get to the next area.
First off you will see two paths to take. Take the one on the
left leading to a chest with a cottage then take the path on the
right. At the next intersection you will see a lot of paths. Go up
the first path you come to and go to the right. There will be three
paths to choose from. Take the one on the right and it will lead to a
chest with a Gaia drum. Head back up and take the path leading up.
Keep following the path and you will reach the next area.
Follow the path and you will reach another intersection with a
path leading up and one going right. Take the one on the right and it
will lead to a chest with a sleep blade. Now head back up and go up
to the Precipice. There is a save point here so make use of it. When
you are ready head up and go between the two rocks to the next area.
Mist Cliff: Kaipo Side
Head down the path and as you try to go sideways Ceo will slip
and fall. The HM will ask if he is ok and Ceo will say yes. Now we
have to get to him. Keep heading down and you will reach the next
area.
Keep going down and you will reach an intersection with three
ways to go. Take the one going up on the left and you will see two
more paths to take. Go up for a chest with a ether and go back down
and go down on the left and grab the chest with a Hermes Sandals. Go
down on and go up on the right to get back to the first intersection.
Head down on the right to reach yet another intersection. Down on the
left you will see Ceo, but before we get him go up the path on the
right to a chest with a Flame Shield. Now head back down and get Ceo.
Head to the left and go to the next area.
Kaipo (kaka)
Just keep following the path and you will reach the end. After a
bit of rest you will see the Red Wings flying over you. Ceo will
think they are after them but HM will say that it looks like they are
after Damcyan. Our next destination will be to go to Kaipo. The
scene will switch to Kain who will think back to when he was on Mount
Ordeals fighting against himself. You can't win this fight so just
attack. After the scene Kain will show that he already has Fabul's
crystal. Now we go back to Ceo. Head up to the desert and go right
to find the desert city of Kaipo. Once inside the HM will tell you to
rest and Ceo will agree. Before we rest go to the right and up to
find a couple of pots. Check the top one for a potion. If you want
to check the two graves at the top of town. Head down from the graves
and go into the inn to rest. While resting you will be attacked by
guards. Once again this scene looks very familiar.
Underground Falls
Hop in and go for a bath. Back to Kain and Rosa will ask if he
is being controlled. Kain will deny it and claim that he will kill
Cecil and Rosa will be his. Suddenly the soldiers that came with Kain
will enter and surround Edward and Rosa. Suddenly Edward will open a
box and release bombs that will destroy his soldiers. Kain will then
attack the two of them. You can't hurt Rosa so just focus on Edward.
As you fight Rosa will protest and you will ignore her. Keep fighting
and Edward will fall. The scene will then switch back to Ceo.
Damcyan (kada)
Head out of the waterfall and you will be walked toward the
castle. As you talk the airship will take off with Rosa on board.
Suddenly Kain's airship will be attacked. It turns out that Cid has
arrived on the Enterprise to save the day. Kain will fly off and you
will need to go into the castle. Head down one step and go to the
right while staying along the wall. You will come to a room so go
inside it. To the right of the first jail bars is a button that will
open a door in the wall. Go through and open the three chests for a
Zeus's Wrath, Antarctic Wind, and a Bomb Fragment. Go back through
the door in the wall and head to the left to find stairs leading down
to the next floor. In here open the chests for 3 hi-potions and 3
potions. Check the pots for a tent and 2 phoenix downs. Now head
back to the entrance of the castle. Now go straight up the stairs and
go to the throne room. Once there you will see Cid and Edward.
Edward will tell Ceo that Kain has taken his mother and the HM will
get angry, demanding that they go to the Enterprise right now. The
scene will then switch back and forth between Ceo and Kain until Kain
lands at Baron. If you did not unequip Kain earlier do it now! Now
go in the castle and the guards will let him through. After the scene
you will have control of Ceo and you will have Cid in the team. Go in
the castle and you will have to fight more of the zombies. Go back
outside and heal and save then head back out and go to the throne
room. As you go the scene will switch between the two until they meet
up in the room before the throne room. When the HM talks Rosa will
reveal that it is Kain who has been helping Ceodore. The two Kains
will start to fight and when Ceo tries to help him our Kain will tell
him to back off saying that this is his fight.
---Tail Alert---
Once you have all four members of the team head into the Devil's Road
during a Waning Moon and on the Mysidia side you will find a Gray Coeurl.
When you kill it you might find a Gray Tail which can be used later in the
game.
Go down the stairs and to the left. Go up the big stairs and go
to the left for a chest with a monster in it. When you win you will
receive the Adamantite. Head to the right and follow the path until
you reach an intersection. Go up and grab the chest with the random
item then head to the left. From here you can go two ways that each
lead to the end.
---North Path---
Go up and grab the chest with the Dry Ether. Go to the right and
follow the path through the trees to a well that leads down. Go to
the left and down to find a hole and a chest surrounded by pots. Go
below the pots and open the chest for an Ogrekiller. Now go back and
hop in the hole. Follow the path around to a set of stairs and a path
going right. Keep going to the right and you will find another
intersection. Go to the left for a chest with a Diamond Armlet.
Return to the previous path and go up to the stairs. Go down the
stairs and through the door. Follow the path around and you will find
a doorway leading out of the dungeon, a save point, and a path to the
right that leads to the south path.
---South Path---
Take the stairs leading down and you will see a door. Before you
go in it go all the way to the right and you will be under the
walkway. Work your way to the right and go through the two doors for
a Protect Staff. Return to the door we passed and go in. Go up the
stairs in front of you and go to the next floor. Grab the chest with
the Angel Arrows and head back down. Go to the left and follow the
path to a chest with an Ice Shield. Go back to the entrance and go to
the right. You now have three ways to choose from. You can go down
the stairs below you, up the stairs above you, or to the left of the
stairs above you. Go to the left of the stairs and follow the path to
a chest with Ice Armor. Go back and go up the stairs. Search the
pots for a Golden Apple. Go down the stairs and talk to the hole to
hop in it. Go down and follow the path to the intersection. Go to
the left and grab the chest with the Gold Hairpin then go back and go
up. Follow the path and go in the door. Follow the path up, go
across the bridge, and go down the stairs. Go down and you will see a
path on the same level and stairs leading down. Take the path and you
will reach a chest with an Elixir. Go down the previous stairs and
you will find a save point, door out of the dungeon, and the other
path.
For this boss fight you might want to be in the Waning moon
phase. Save the game and head up to a hooded creature for a boss
fight.
BOSS FIGHT: Curse Dragon
There are two stages to this fight. During the first part
dedicate Rosa to healing. Have Kain use haste then focus on Jumping
so he can avoid attacks. Have Ceo help with the healing and attack
the rest of the time. Have Cid attack unless someone dies, then use a
phoenix down. For the weaker teams the boss's Blaze attack can kill
you in one shot.
After you do so much damage to him he will change form and the
fight will start again. Once again start off by casting slow, because
it will come off when he transforms. In this form he will counter
every attack. Some of his new attacks include Doom, Firaga, Black
Fang, and Dark Breath. For those of you who have not seen it before
the Black Fang is an attack that will kill a character regardless of
his/her HP or level.
After the fight go and grab the chest. The prizes are random so
be happy with what you got. If you want more you will have to come
back and do it all again.
Crystal Palace
Golbez will notice right away that the crystals are the color of
blood. If you talk to the crystals they will say random things that
make no sense. Head down through the door to the next area. As you
try to leave Fusoya will talk to you. After some more talking he will
join the team. Now you have to organize all of his magic, and there
is a lot. In the next area head down toward the door. Before you
leave you will notice two paths going left and right. Down these
paths are panels that will heal you. Heal if you want to then head
outside and save. Once outside there are several places to go.
---Tail Alert---
During the New Moon you can find a Ebony Dragon in the bigger of the
two tunnels. When you kill it you can find a Ebony Tail that is useful in
later stories.
Impact Crater {luic)
Impact Crater Rim
Right off Fusoya will realize that something is wrong with this
meteor. Golbez will ask what it is and Fusoya will not have an
answer. Head right and go down to the next area.
Once the fight is over Fusoya will say that he will summon the
Lunar Whale so they can use prayers to power up their Crystals. As
they pray the room will start to shake and the crystals will shatter.
Once the first one shatters the Mysterious Girl will appear. That's
right people, there are more of her. She will disappear and Fusoya
will mention that she is after the other Lunarians. Go back to heal
and save. Now head back and go back to the Lunar Subterrane.
Baron
As you notice there are guards wandering around the city.
Talking to any of them will start a fight against the zombie infantry
enemies. Also all of the doors in the city are locked and only a few
of them can you go into. If you need to get some items there is an
item bunny next to the entrance. Go to the right in front of the inn
and there is a phoenix down in a pot. Go to the house above the Inn
and talk to the door. Rydia will talk to the person and you will be
allowed in. This is Rosa's house. There is nothing in here so just
head out to the left of the house. Check the barrel on top for a hi-
potion. Go to the left and you will see a staircase. Go up it and
check the well on the left of the house. In it is a small tale. This
is different from the tails so don't get them confused. Go to the
door and talk to it. This time Luca will be the one to gain you entry
into the house. There is nothing in here so head out and go north up
the stairs to the top of the waterfall. Kill the guard and head into
the stairs. Follow the path in to the water and at the end are hidden
chests with an x-potion and a silver hourglass. Head out of the water
and go back to Rosa's house. Head to the right and fight the other
guard. Go through the arch, take one step to the left, and go up
until you get to the trees. Head to the right and go through a secret
passage that goes to the left of town. In here are hidden chests
containing a cottage, x-potion, small tail, and dry ether. We are
done here so head out of the town and hop on the airship.
Overworld
From the city of Baron go to the right a little and you will see
a lone tree at the tip of some land. Land the ship and walk onto the
tree. Search the grass for a chest with a small tail. Now head to
the land of Fabul. Head a bit to the west and you will see a forest
area. Land and head into the forest. You are looking for an area
surrounded by four black meteor spots. Head into this and go up to
the top and get the chest with the Faerie Rod. Head to the right
through a secret passage and you will find a small tail. Go back to
the castle and go to the southeast forest and you will see another
clearing. Go in and search the bush at the top for a small tail.
Before we go much further let's head to the city of Mythril.
This is the only city in the world that doesn't have anything
happening to it. Search the grassy area on the right of the town for
a cottage. Head left from here and you will see the equipment shops.
Go behind them to find a hidden chest with a heavenly wrath. Head to
the right from here to another grassy area. In here is a chest with a
remedy. Check the well nearby for a small tale. Now head back out
and get on the falcon
The next place on our hit list is the land of Toria. Land next
to the castle and head up toward the chocobo forest. To the right of
the forest is another of the clearing areas. There is a secret
passage on the right of the area that leads to an Ice Whip. On the
far left side is a lone bush with a small tail in it. Head back and
go to the airship. Now go directly right and you will come to another
clearing. Search the bushes to the right for a Small Tail. Now go
back and get on the airship. To the south of Toria is another
clearing near the other chocobo forest. It is in the middle of three
meteor burns. Make sure that you heal and save before you go in. In
here is a chest with monsters in it. You will face off against 3 dark
sages. Have Rydia cast stop on them to reduce damage and have Luca,
Edge, and MIB focus on one at a time. Don't worry too much about your
magic. Remember that the Falcon has a free inn. When you win you
will receive the mage masher. Head back to the falcon.
Next we are going to Damcyan. To the left of the castle is a
meteor crash site. Land at the bottom and head in. Go up and examine
the bones for another of the small tails. Now go down a few blocks
and head left. You will see an island with a small circular forest.
Land on it and enter the forest. Check the bushes for a chest
containing the chocobo spell. Finally a summon that doesn't require a
lot of work to get. Now head to Kaipo. Before you land, locate three
rocks to the south of the town that form a triangle. There is a spot
to the right of the rocks that you can land at. Now land and head to
this spot and go in the middle of the rocks. Check the pillar in the
middle for a small tail. Now head back to the ship. Head to the
right of the rocks and you will come to a set of mountains. Follow
them to the right and you will see land formation that looks like a C
with a desert patch on the lower part. Land near the desert, heal and
save, then head in. This monster has much more bark than bite.
Simply cast stop on it and the fight is yours. Your reward for this
fight is a Black Belt Gi. After the fight talk to the pillar in the
upper right of the circle to get another Small tail.
Now we are going to Mount Ordeals to the east of Mysidia. Go to
the southwest from the mountain and you will find a little island with
a clearing on it. Save and then head inside. Open the chest and you
will find another monster. Just like last time just use stop on him
and beat him up. For winning you will receive the ribbon. This great
piece of armor will protect you from any status ailment. Now go back
to the Falcon. Head up from here and you will see another meteor
crash sight. Land and enter. For the first time in a while you won't
have to fight to get the prize. Take the luminous robe and get back
on the ship. We have one more stop in this area. Fly to the
southeast of the mountain and you will see a cave that isn't blocked
up. Head inside and check the boxes on the right for a small tale.
Now head to the left and grab the chest with the elixir. When you go
back down check for a path to the right. This will lead to a crate
with a small tail. Now head back to the Falcon.
Our next stop is the island Agart. On the right side of the
island is another of the lone trees. Save before you head in there.
Inside the chest is another monster. This time you will fight a Fell
Knight and two Mini Satans. Use the stop spell to take care of the
Satans. Be careful about attacking them because they will use Confuse
on you. One level three spell on each of them should be enough to
stop them. When you win you will receive a set of Diamond Armor. Now
back to the ship.
For our last stop on the treasure tour we are going to Eblan.
Just head left from Agart. To the north of the tower is another lone
tree. Step on it and search the grass for a small tail. Now go east
of the tower and next to the mountains is another lone tree. Step on
it once again for a small tail
---treasure hunting---
Now that is done let us continue the story. Our trip will
consist of the Lodestone cavern, Mysidia, Agart, Fabul, Kaipo,
Damcyan, and Eblan. As a note you have to do Fabul before Kaipo and
Mysidia before Agart. Other than that they can be done in any order
you want. This is basically a trip to reclaim most of the Eidolons
that were captured.
Fabul/Kaipo (crefk)
I will start my trip in the land of Fabul. When you enter the
monks will recognize you and let you through. They will tell you that
the Sylphs have been attacking the castle. The Sylphs will not attack
you if you don't talk to them. There is nothing on the first floor so
head to the throne room. After a bit of talking Sheila will give you
a frying pan and a ladle. Hmm I wonder what we do with these. Head
to the left and check the pot for an x-potion. Go to the right and
step on the switch to open the door in the wall. Head through and get
the three chests containing a phoenix down, cottage, and a decoy. Now
head back to the previous floor. Head around to the back of the room
and take the door leading outside. Let's start in the western tower.
Check the pots for a Hermes sandals and open the chests for a cross,
phoenix down, and a bronze hourglass. The only thing on the next
floor is the white mage that will heal you. There is nothing on the
third floor so go to the other tower. There is nothing on the first
floor so go to the second. Check the pot on the right for a Bacchus's
wine. Head up to the third floor. Check the flowers for a small tail
then grab the chest with the hi-potion. We are now done at Fabul.
Our next destination is Kaipo. Park the airship nearby and cross
the desert. Once inside you will notice that the place is also
crawling with the sylphs. When you enter the city head to the back
and examine the graves. Then go into the inn and go to the item
counter. Here you need to buy lots of Spider silk. You will need
them in the later parts of the story. Head to the house in the upper
right corner and you will find Yang and Ursula asleep on the bed.
Talk to Yang and an item menu will pop up. Go down and choose the
Frying pan. Luca will be shocked as Edge whacks Yang on the head with
it. He will mumble something about his wife and then wake up. Your
attention will then turn to Ursula. This time choose the ladle. She
will mention something about her mom and wake up. Luca will mention
about how crazy this family is. The sylphs will then appear before
you and will rejoin Rydia. After a bit more talking the scene will
change to Baron. The Mysterious girl will then take the crystals from
Rosa. Rosa will try to approach Cecil and Kain will her to stop.
Afterwards the two of them will come with you and lay down in two of
the beds in the Falcon. Now it is time to set a new destination.
Eblan (creeb)
When you enter you will see that the castle is on fire. The
guards will let you through and your end destination is the throne
room. However you may notice that it is blocked off by fire. In
order to get through here you have to go into each of the towers and
find a powerful monster. I would suggest leaving the looting until
the castle is not on fire because you will get attacked while you are
walking. Every now and then you will get attacked by Ifrit. Just run
for now, you will take care of him later. For the east tower head to
the second floor for the monster. For the west tower he is on the
third floor. To get there head down from the stairs through the wall
and go right to the stairs. Head to the towers and talk to the cloaked
monster.
BOSS FIGHT: Melt Golem
First have someone use a spider silk on him to slow him down.
Have it be the Full Moon phase so that his powerful physical attacks
will be diminished. Focus Edge on using Heal Pill and Rydia using
Sylph to heal the team. Have MIB use Blizzaga and Luca use Attack.
Just keep your HP high and you should do ok.
As you beat the Golems the fire in front of the main door will
disappear. When both of them are gone you will be able to enter.
Before you do head back out to heal and save. Make sure that the moon
phase is good for you to battle against a boss. If you want to be
absolutely sure about your victory then equip Luca with a piece of ice
armor and a cursed ring. If you don't have these then you can get
them from the evil flames outside the castle. This ring will take any
piece of armor that reduces an elemental attack and will let the
character absorb it. The down side is that it makes all your stats
worthless. This will only work on elemental attacks, though. It will
not stop Ifrit's physical attacks. When you are ready head into the
throne room and go through the scene.
The scene will switch back to Baron. Cecil will ask Kain if he
is going to fight him. Kain will say yes and Ceodore will be
surprised. Cecil will ask if he is willing to fight his own father.
Cecil will demand an answer and then Kain will attack Cecil. You
can't win so just attack. The scene will end and you will be back at
Eblan. Now head outside and save.
Now it is time to loot the castle. Start by heading to the west
tower. To get one of the chests take two steps back toward the door
and go right. In the chest is an Elixir. Now head to the second
floor. There is an indention in the left wall. Go in it and go down
to find a chest with a Boltslicer in it. Go up to Edge's room and
check the armor for a small tale. When you are on the second floor
and in the secret path search the bottom right pot for a secret
tail. Now go to the east tower. Head to the upper left corner and head
behind the pillar to find a secret passage. The chest at the end has
a Red Fang in it. Now head to the second floor. Open the three
chests to find a silent bell, remedy, and x-potion. Go down the
stairs and grab the chest with the cottage then head up the stairs and
grab the chest with a Bacchus's wine. Now go into the main part of
the castle. Head to the save point on the left and head directly
right of it to find a secret passage that leads to a Decoy. That it
is it for the kingdom of Eblan. Now we will go to the land of Toria.
Toria (creto)
First let's head to the city. Go behind the armor and weapon
shops and go into the little indention. Talk to the wall and you will
get a Small Tail. Cross the bridge in front of you and go right and
down the stairs into the water. Follow the path to the back of the
town and get out of the water. Head to the left through the trees and
you will find a grassy area with chests containing a decoy, dry ether,
ether, and x-potion. Now head out and go into the castle. The castle
has been completely frozen. Head into the back of the castle for the
Crystal Room. Luca will wonder where Palom is at a time like this.
Rydia will remember that Palom was heading away from the castle and
Luca will recall information about the Lodestone Cavern to the
northeast of the castle. That is our next destination.
Lodestone Cavern (crelc)
Lodestone Cavern 1st floor
The bright side is that you don't have to worry about the
magnetic field this time. Go all the way to the right across the
bridge and grab the chest with a recovery rod. Head back to the
bridge and go down and follow the path and you will see the stairs to
the next floor and a chest with a unicorn horn. Now go down the
stairs to the next area.
Lodestone Cavern 2nd floor
Head left, up, and left again and you will find a chest with a
Coeurl whisker. Head to the right, go across the bridge and go inside
the door. In here you will find two chests containing a Hermes
Sandals and a Cottage. Go back out of the room and go all the way to
the left to find the stairs to the next floor.
Damcyan (creda)
When you get inside the castle take one step back into the desert
and walk to the right making sure you stay next to the wall. Go
inside room and press the switch on the wall next to the bars to open
a door. Head through to get three chests containing an x-potion,
phoenix down, and emergency exit. Now head out of the door in the
wall and head to the left and go down the stairs. Open the chests in
here for a diamond shield, 2 ethers, blue fang, white fang, and red
fang. Check the pots for 2 x-potions and a hi-potion. Now head to
the entrance to the castle. As you head up you will notice that
antlions have overrun the castle. Like with the sylphs they will not
hurt you if you don"t talk to them. Head inside the castle. Head to
the far right and go up the stairs. Before moving go down and follow
the secret passage to a chest with a Bomb core. Go back and come back
up and grab the decoy from the chest. That"s it for this area so head
back down and go to the left, skipping the main stairs, and you will
find another set of stairs going up. Go up to the top floor and check
the bookcase for a small tail. Now head back to the first floor and
take the center stairs to the throne room. After some talking with
Harley she will head onto the Falcon. Now head back out and go to the
Falcon. Our next destination is the land of Mysidia.
Mysidia/Agart (crema)
Before entering equip as much lightning resistant armor as you
have. Inside the city there is nothing to find so just head toward
the back of town to find a boss fight.
BOSS FIGHT: Ramuh
This fight is very similar to the one with Shiva. You will have
to carefully attack him so that you don't kill him. Use a spider silk
on him to slow him down and use a couple of level 3 spells on him.
Eventually Rydia will talk to him and you will need to stop attacking.
And as with the previous Eidolons when he starts to gather energy he
is going to use his special attack.
After the fight Ramuh will return to Rydia. Now head up into the
Hall of Prayer and you will find Porom. After you enter Porom will
collapse on the floor and you will take her back to the Falcon. After
some talking the scene will switch back to Baron. After a quick
couple of lines all five of them will be placed in a fight against
Cecil. Don't worry too much, like before you can't win this fight.
After some time Cecil will summon Odin. Now head to the west and land
at the island of Agart. Make sure that the moon is full because the
boss mainly uses physical attacks. We will raid the island later.
For now head in and go to the right. When you pass the inn go left
and approach the Mysterious Girl for a fight.
BOSS FIGHT: Titan
This fight is a two part fight. For the first part use a spider
silk and just attack with everything that you got. Just keep a close
eye on your HP. After a while Titan will use his Gaia's Wrath attack.
If you have not been to Mysidia then this will end the fight. If you
did go then Porom will show up and cast float on the team. Now the
fight will begin again. He will now use a Crush attack that will kill
a team member in one shot. Remember when you revive characters they
will not be under the influence of float. Just reapply the spider
silk and beat him up. Unlike the past fights you do not have to take
it easy on Titan. After you do enough damage the fight will be over
and you will have your summon.
We are now done fighting the Eidolons. Titan will return to
Rydia and all of the kingdoms except Baron are safe. You will now
return the Falcon and put Porom back in bed. Now head back into the
town because we need to raid it. Once inside the town head to the
left around the well in the middle of the town. As you walk you will
find a grassy area with a chest containing a Gaia Drum. Now go back
down and enter the house to the left of the entrance. Search the
globe on the table between the beds for a small tail. Now go to the
center of town and talk to the well and agree to go down.
Agart Subterrane (creas)
Agart Subterrane 1st floor
Head to the right and follow the path to a chest with a Decoy.
Now head back down and go to the right. At the next intersection go
to the right for a chest with a Diamond Armlet. Head back and go up.
Go past the first stairs unless you want to save and head down to
another floor.
Mist (cremi)
When you get in the town you will find that it is covered in a
thick mist. When you enter the mist will go away and people will
appear. The village chief will tell you that the only reason that the
Mist Dragon was not captured was that the village children protected
it. After the talking you will receive the Dragon summon. Head back
in the village and head up and right to find a grassy area. In here
is a chest with a Bomb Core. Head down and there will be an indention
in the trees on the right. Go through it and you will find two chests
containing 2 Bomb Crank. Our final destination is the Cave Of Eblan.
Head up and you will see a person wandering around. If you talk
to him you can get colored tails from him for 7 small tails and 14
will get you a rainbow tail. Head to the left and go up to find a
chest with a x-potion. Head right and go up past the person to find a
chest with a Hermes sandal. Now head down and look for a secret
passage in the right wall that leads to a chest with a dry ether. Now
head back and go down to the next area
Go to the left and get the chest with the ether and head back
down to the door on the right. In here is a save point. Before we
use it go to the top of the room and to the right is a secret passage
leading to a chest with a kotetsu in it. Give it to Edge then heal
and save your game. We have a big fight coming up and we need to be
prepared. Go out the door and head up for a scene after the scene you
will have a fight
When you win you will receive a Kiku-ichimonji for your trouble.
Before you leave there is a secret passage on the left wall that will
lead to a chest with a Black Cowl. Now exit the cave.
Now is the time to do any last minute shopping. I suggest going
to Kaipo and filling up on the spider silk. Another thing is the
upcoming stores do not sell status removing items. Once you go to the
throne room of Baron castle you will not be able to go to any of the
cities on the planet. When you are ready head back to Baron Castle.
After the fight Cecil will fall. Just then the other team will
come in. As they come in and see Cecil on the ground he will mutter
something about his brother, revealing that the MIB is Golbez. What a
shock. After a bit more talking you will be in a boss fight
After the fight she will fall and everybody will reJ01ce. Then
four more girls will show up and take the crystals. After a lot more
talking the Lunar Whale will show up and you will have the option of
saving.
It is time to pick your team. You can choose from any of the
characters including Cecil. One thing to know about Cecil is that he
is not himself. He will not be able to use his paladin abilities like
white magic. His stats are also subpar. And he will not be able to
use any bands for a while. The only good thing is that he has a lot
of HP and is level 40. The reason that I take him is so he can act as
a shield for my other characters and to get him some experience for
when he does return to normal. My choice for a team is Rydia, Rosa,
Golbez, Kain, and Cecil. If you don't like this team then the best
choice for a team in terms of abilities is 2 fighters, 2 mages. For
the fifth do whatever you want. Whatever you do for your team you
might want to level up outside the ship. For some reason we still
have the moon phases even though we are on the moon. The only places
on the moon that you will be able to save at is at the save points.
If you do use my team then leave Cecil behind and level up a bit.
When you leave the Whale you will see two things. The first thing is
the item bunny on the right. On the left is the interdimensional
elevator. While it is offline right now you will be able to use it
later. This will allow you to teleport between the lunar whale and
the final dungeon. This is good because there are about 40 floors
with a lot of bosses in the dungeon. This will allow you to go back
and restock your items. When you are ready to move on go down the
stairs on the left and head to the left and go up for the dungeon.
Head up in the room and we start the final dungeon.
Subterrane (crmsu)
Subterrane 1st floor
Right off you will notice that this is similar to the moon Golbez
was on. Start by heading to the right and go through the secret
passage on the right wall to get to a chest with a decoy in it. Head
back out and go through the secret passage on the left wall and take
the panel and go through the door to the next floor.
Head down on the save spot and you will have a choice of resting.
If you say yes you will have another scene. This time it will be
between the five ninjas. This time you do not get a band. Save and
continue down the stairs on the left.
---Right Path---
Head down the right path. At the next intersection go down and
then go right. Before you go up the stairs head to the right and grab
the chest with the Lunar Curtain. Now head up the stairs. Head to
the left and there will be two chests with a silver hourglass and a
gold hourglass. Now head back and follow the path till you see a
house. Go inside the house and grab the cottage from the chest then
head upstairs. Heal and save the game and change the moon to a phase
for a boss battle. When you are ready head out the door and talk to
the woman
BOSS FIGHT: Asura
This fight can really suck. She has three faces and three main
attacks. When the head matches the body she will heal herself. If it
is a grey color then she will raise herself, which is useless. The
orange face will make her cast protect on herself. The only other
thing is that she will counter every attack with a physical attack.
However that is her only offensive move for now so you have plenty of
time to prepare. Thankfully this is not one of the Eidolon battles
where you have stop attacking at the end. Do use slow because it will
be useful later in the fight. Cast protect on the team then use blink
or decoys. This will make her miss that character two times. Once
you are done start on the offensive. Make sure that you keep Blink
going because those attacks hurt bad. After you do enough damage she
will start attacking you directly. Just stay healed and blinked and
you should do fine.
After the fight grab the chest with the Minerva Bustier. Now
head back and save your game and heal. If this is your first path
then go back to the beginning of the floor. If this is your second
then head to the left and go down the stairs. Head up the middle path
and go to the next floor.
Subterrane 13th floor
We are almost done with the first section of the final dungeon.
However we need to make some changes in our party. To win this fight
properly you need to have Cecil, Golbez, Rosa, and Ceodore. Whoever
you have for your 5th is up to you. When you are ready head up to the
next boss fight. There are three different scenarios for this boss
fight
BOSS FIGHT: Dark Knight (scenario 1)
If Golbez and Cecil are not in your team this will be a quick
fight. The Boss will use Darkness on you and then kill you.
BOSS FIGHT: Dark Knight (scenario 2)
For this fight you will have Golbez and Cecil, but not Rosa and
Ceodore. After a few turns the boss will attack Cecil and Golbez will
save him. The fight will start again but everybody will be at 1 HP
and Golbez will not be in the fight. Heal everybody and start the
attack. After the fight Cecil will return, but Golbez will be dead
forever.
BOSS FIGHT: Dark Knight (scenario 3)
For this fight you will have Golbez, Cecil, Rosa, and Ceodore.
For the first part of this fight just attack him with physical
attacks. When he hits you do not worry about healing unless you are
about to die. After a few turns the boss will use Darkness to take
everybody to 1 HP. When he tries to kill everybody Cecil will protect
them. The boss will go to kill Cecil and Golbez will protect him.
The fight will start again with Golbez alone at 1 HP. Then Rosa will
come in and heal him. Now fight and keep yourself healed. After a
few turns Ceodore will get up and join the fight with your other
character. Cecil will be on the floor but do not worry about reviving
him, it can't be done. Keep attacking and healing. Just be sure not
to use magic on him other than slow or you will get hit with a Black
Fang and taken to 1 HP. After you do enough damage the boss will turn
his attention to Ceodore. After the first Black Fang Cecil will rise
up and protect his son. Cecil will now return to his old self. This
means that all of his stats are at the same place as everyone else's
and will do massive damage. Keep attacking and healing and the fight
should end quickly.
After the fight grab the sword and go forward for a scene with
the Mysterious Girl. Step on the platform to go to a new area.
Before you do anything else go back up and return to the Lunar Whale.
Save, heal, and restock then step on the elevator. We are going to
take a detour to the place called ???. Here you can trade all of your
colored tales for items and your Adamantite for armor. If you want to
get the tails they are located in the Subterrane in different rooms
under different moon phases. They are
When you are ready step on the elevator and go to the Depths.
Depths (crmde)
Depths 1st floor
If you came from the Subterrane go down until you see a door. If
you do inside this door you will find the elevator to the Whale, an
item bunny, a save point, and a heal spot. Head up the stairs to the
right of the door. Go to the right and go down two stairs. Head to
the left and you will see stairs going down to the next floor.
After the fight, grab the chest with the Assassin's Dagger then
return to the save point.
After the fight grab the chest with the Rising Sun and return to
the save point.
After the fight grab the chest with the Holy Lance and go back to
heal and save.
After the fight garb the chests with the Perseus Bow and Arrows
then go back to heal and save.
After the fight grab the chest with the Masamune then go back to
heal and save.
Once all the fights are done head up the big stairs next to the
save point to find the warp point to the next area.
After the fight you will receive the Excalipoor. Don't bother
equipping it because it is a worthless weapon. After the fight choose
to rest and watch the scene between Ceodore and Kain. Afterwards they
will learn the Double Jump Band. Save and use the elevator if you
need to. Up ahead is another powerful optional boss like Omega. If
you are going to skip it for now then change the moon phase to Waxing.
It will be vital for the next mandatory boss fight. From the room
with the save point head directly down and grab the chest with the
Lunar Shield. Head back up and look for a path to going left and down
and you will find a clear area. Head down and go to the left and
follow the path to an OPTIONAL BOSS in the chest.
After the fight Bahamut will join you as a summon if you have
Leviathan and Asura. If you don't he will be lost forever. Either
way head back down to heal and save. Now head up and go around the
hole to find the door to the next area.
Depths 21st floor
Just head up and go to the next floor.
Depths 22nd floor
In here you will start to encounter creatures called Maenad's.
Run if you want or fight them, it is your choice. To the left and
right of the center isle are two chests containing a dry ether and an
x-potion. Go through the door to the next floor.
Depths 23rd floor
Go up and you will find 8 Maenad's standing around. Don't worry
they won't do anything to you. You can actually talk to them to find
out some info. When you are done head up to the next floor.
After the scene the fight will start again. Now you have to
fight a little blue puppy. This is another simple fight. The boss
will only counter your attacks. This will allow you to set the pace
of the fight. If you attack with magic he will counter with flare,
which can be reflected. He will also use reflect so be careful of
that happening. Just be careful and keep healed at all times and you
should do fine.
If your MP is getting a little low then don't be afraid to use
Ethers or Elixirs. Now he will attack you but he will not counter
you. Some of the attacks that he will use are Megaflare, Flare, Holy,
Binding Glare, and Meteor. To counter him use slow to hinder him and
shell to reduce damage from his spells. Also haste your white mage to
allow her to heal more. Cast strong spells and Summons and hit him
hard to end this part of the fight.
After a little dialogue box the fight will begin again. He will
start to fly towards you but you can't hurt him so just let it play
out.
After all of the scenes the final part of the fight will begin.
First off go into the item menu and select the Crystal. After you use
that he will be able to be damaged. Start by casting slow and haste
ONLY on your white mage. He will use Black Hole often so there is no
point casting a lot of status enhancements. You also don't want to
use elemental magic. Flare, Meteor, and summons will do very good on
him. If you start to run out of MP, which will likely happen because
this is a long fight, then use a dry ether or Elixir. There are a few
attacks that you need to know about. His Multiply attack will damage
the entire team for a lot of points. His Metastasis attack will for
some reason hurt him for 3000 points. Of course by now you are very
familiar with the Black Hole attack. Transform will change his
elemental weakness, but if you have flare then that is not a problem.
And his worst attack is Regenerate which will heal him for 9999
points. And every now and then he will use an attack from an Eidolon.
And of course, like a bunch of the previous bosses he has a quake
attack. While it is hard to make sure that float is on the attack
does not do as much damage as some of his other attacks. When he
starts to glow pink he is about to use his Explode attack. This will
deal a lot of damage as well as put sap on your team. One of his
strongest attacks is Split which will do massive damage to a single
member, possibly killing them. Later in the fight he will start to
cast Toad and Mini on you, but that shouldn't be a problem. He will
also start to use an attack called Fuse that is like Drain.
Now the fight is finished, but we are not done. Heal up some
magic and your HP and reverse your rows. You now have to run to the
room with Bahamut. As you retreat you will be attacked by the
Creator. Just attack him and you will eventually run. He will even
attack himself, isn't that nice of him. Don't bother trying to save
or use the elevator because they both don't work. When you reach the
24th floor you will see the maenad that you told to stay put. She will
come with you so continue down. Now as you run the other Maenads will
help the girl to escape. You only survive because you are with her.
Just keep going until you reach Bahamut's room. A final fight will
occur where a Maenad will cast Meteor on the Creator, finally killing
him. Keep going to the next room and watch the scene.
