MAKING BIBLE TEXT-TO-SELF CONNECTIONS SY 2016-2017

MAKING CONNECTIONS
What is Text-to-Self Connection?
A text-to-self connection is a personal connection between the
story or text and one's feelings or life experiences.

Why do we make connections

It helps readers understand how characters feel.

It helps the reader visualize what's happening in the story. It adds to ones mental
image.
It keeps the reader interested and focused. It does not distract the reader or make
them forget what they are reading.
It helps the reader make smart predictions. It gives them clues on what will happen
next.
It deepens or adds to a readers understanding of the text.

Guide questions that can help me make connections:

What does this story remind me of in my life?
How is this story similar to or different from my life?

Has something like this ever happened to me?

What were my feelings when I read this?

Can you relate to the character in the story?
