10-7-16 Unconference Plan

Hand each person a color stick for seating and a notecard to write their name and 1 mathematical
sentence about themselves. Welcome the group and discuss with them that we have been
working with Molly Sweeney from the AEA and wanted to share out some ideas that teachers
would be able to create and use right away in their classrooms. These could be for whole class,
small group, and/or interventions. We want to make sure the group is engaged and listening, so
we will start with a “Would You Rather” game.

We will demonstrate each activity showing what they will need to do to create items, how they
can use it in their classrooms - with a variety of differentiation ideas - and materials they can
“make and take” and materials they have in their math kits they will need to use in their own
classrooms. We will also share that these resources and more will be available on the website if
they want to make larger sets than what we have today.

With approximately 8 minutes remaining, we will bring the group back together and show them
the Swirly Twirly game and an example of Salute. Then we will let them play and complete an
Exit Ticket to provide us with feedback on our session and their needs.
