Day One

Peter went out on the sea one day
But all of the fishes went swimming away
‘Peter,’ said Jesus. ‘can I borrow your boat?’
It’s no use to you anyway, hey
It’s no use to you anyway!’

Chorus:

One fish, two fish, me fish, you’ve been
Fishing for fish, Peter my friend
One fish, two fish, me fish, you fish
Now you’ll be fishing men for men (ARRR!)
Now you’ll be fishing for men

‘Peter,’ said Jesus, ‘I’ve got an idea
Row out to deep water, anywhere far or near
Lower your nets off the side of the boat
There’s something I need to make clear
Hey, there’s something I need to make clear.’

Chorus

Peter dropped anchor and lowered his nets
They filled up so fast he broke out in a sweat
His friends James and John floated by to assist
‘That’s the biggest catch that you‘ve caught yet
Hey, the biggest catch that you’ve caught yet!’

Chorus

‘It’s all down to Jesus. It’s him and not me.
He’s special,’ said Peter, as he fell to his knees.
‘Get up,’ said Jesus, ‘and please don’t be scared.
I want you to come follow me
Hey, I want you to come follow me!’

Day Two

Jesus said to Peter, ‘Let’s go up the mountain.’
Took so many steps that he could hardly count ‘em.
James and John came along for the journey.
Suddenly Jesus started to transform he
Shone like the sun
Shone like the sun

Chorus:
Shine Jesus Shine
Fill this land with the Father’s glory
Glow, Moses, Glow
Look! He’s stood there, as well!
These are the days, are the days
Hey look, there’s the prophet Elijah!
He’s shining, too
And we’re all feeling swell!

Peter said to Jesus, ‘Why not build three tents near?
One for you and these other two gents here?
Then God came down in a big shiny cloud
‘This is my son.’ he said. ‘He’s made me proud.
Listen to him
(I want you to) Listen to him!’

Chorus

When the cloud had lifted Jesus stood there alone
They went back down the mountain, Peter walked on his
own
Oh dear, he thought, I’ve gone and put my foot in it
But then he reconsidered. Hey, wait just a minute!
I know what Jesus means
I said it back in Chapter 16!
(He’s the son of God!)

Chorus

Day Three

Once there was a little Hoopoe
Sitting on a big white sheet
Hoopoe, Hoopoe, Hoopoe, Hoopoe
Sitting on a big white sheet
Hoopoe, Hoopoe, Hoopoe, Hoopoe
Sitting on a big white sheet
Hoopoe, Hoopoe, Hoopoe, Hoopoe
Rise, Peter, kill and eat!

Other animals to add - coney, vulture, camel, shellfish,
and whatever the crowd suggests - All with appropriate
actions

So the pattern would be (for example)

Once there was a little shellfish
Sitting on a big white sheet
Shellfish, shellfish, Don’t be shellfish!
Sitting on a big white sheet
Shellfish, shellfish, Don’t be shellfish!
Sitting on a big white sheet
Hoopoe, Hoopoe, Hoopoe, Hoopoe
Rise Peter, kill and eat!
Day Four

Peter was in prison but an angel came to set him free
His friends were all at Mark’s house, praying for his
liberty
Peter showed up at the door
He knocked until his knuckles were sore!
And he cried out,
‘Help me, Rhoda! Help me I just got outta jail!’

Chorus:

‘Help me Rhoda, help help me Rhoda (x6)
Help me Rhoda, please, I just got outta jail!’

Rhoda told the others, but they thought that she was off
her tree
‘The meetings almost over and we’re ready for a cup of
tea!’
‘Rhoda you’re mad!’ they said.
‘Poor Peter is probably dead.’
But he cried out,
‘Help me Rhoda
Help me I just got outta jail!’

Chorus

Rhoda was persistent. ‘Peter’s out there, you must trust
my word!’
‘I may just be your servant but I know exactly what I
heard!’
They gave in and opened the door.
And stared in shock at what they saw
It was Peter crying,
‘Help me, Rhoda!
Help me, I just got outta jail!’

Chorus

Final Shine Jesus Shine Song

Jesus said to Peter, ‘Hey you look so grand, man.
You dress yourself with your very own hand, man.
But one day, friend, you’ll get another tailor.
He’ll dress you in stripes just like a Paul Smith Jailor.
Whatever will be
I want you to come follow me.’
Chorus:

Shine, Jesus, Shine
Fill this land with the Father’s glory.
Go, Peter, Go
Tell the world his news
And what about us
About us
Here on the lovely beaches of Minehead?
Let’s leave this place wearing our Good News Shoes

Peter said to Jesus, ‘What about young John here?
The one jotting down everything that goes on here?’
Jesus said, ‘It’s simply not your concern.
He might even be here when I return.
Whatever will be
I want you to come follow me.’

Chorus

Jesus said to Peter, ‘Let’s go up the mountain.’
Took so many steps that they could hardly count ‘em.
And we walk along in our ow special way
Mountains and beaches, sheets and prison stays
Whatever will be
He’s asking us, ‘Come follow me!’
