The Platform

Our top priority is to keep students informed about what student government is doing and to
make sure that the student body is benefitting from all of the resources available to SG.

Safety:
We believe that in order to foster a productive learning environment, safety must be a
top priority. As student leaders, we will take proactive measures to ensure that all
students feel comfortable on this campus. Students should be able to walk around our
bricks without feeling threatened, they should feel confident in the University's
emergency response measures, and they should be aware of the proper actions to take
in any dangerous situation. NC State provides many great protections, but we know that
we can always do more to ensure the security of students.

One of our goals to ensure the safety of our students it to create a video detailing
the correct actions to take if there is an active shooter on campus. We hope that such
precautions will never be necessary, but we recognize the importance of being prepared
for all situations that threaten the wellbeing of our community.
The safety escorts on this campus are a great resource, and we hope to expand
that service so that more students can feel safe walking home at night. We will work to
expand the radius of these escorts and make them more accessible to all students.
We believe that the lack of lighting on campus is a great safety concern. As SBP
and SBVP, fixing this problem will be a top priority in our agenda, and we hope to get
student input in the process as well.

Campus Improvements:
As a part of our vision, we see a campus that has something to offer to all students,
faculty, and staff. We are devoted to a campus that reflects the core ideals of this
institution from advanced research to practical innovations that enrich your overall
experience. Whether its improving academic resources, making campus more
accessible, or implementing convenient transportation options, our goal is to satisfy your
vision. This is your campus and we want to know how you think it can be improved!

NC State has a large campus and for that reason we want to work on improving
the transportation options here on campus. From improving the condition of bus stops to
implementing a bike share system, we are dedicated to making campus easier to
traverse.
In our efforts to improve this campus, we see a need to improve accessibility.
Installing handicap buttons on buildings and facilities such as bathrooms is just the
beginning of how we want to make our campus more accessible.
We want to implement your ideas on this campus! Our team has great ideas, but
we cannot possibly think of everything that needs improvement, so we want to hear from
you!

Sustainability:
Students and organizations on this campus have done amazing work advocating for
sustainability, and our team is passionate about continuing work to minimize the
Universitys environmental impact. Through student government and coordinated efforts
with other campus entities we will promote recycling and composting, work to reduce
plastic and paper waste, and explore options for sources of renewable energy.
Additionally, with programs like bike sharing, we hope to stimulate environmental
awareness while simultaneously providing students with another convenient option to
traverse this campus. Most importantly, we hope to hear your ideas about how we can
work together to achieve a green and environmentally-friendly campus.

We love seeing all of the recycling and composting stations around campus, but
we want to see even more in the future. By working with other campus organizations, we
hope to implement composting stations into residence halls and other buildings on
campus.
The water bottle filling stations around campus are one of the greatest ways to
promote sustainability. To further encourage the use of reusable water bottles, we want
to see more of these stations in academic and residential buildings.

Communication/Information:
We feel that Student Government at North Carolina State University has an obligation to
establish a strong line of communication with all of the students on this campus. We
recognize the need to make our organization accessible to everyone who is looking to
get involved, voice concerns, or implement initiatives. We want to hear from you! And,
with your input, we can collaborate toward goals that are both feasible and beneficial to
our community on this campus.

Finding a good place to study can make all the difference when it comes to
productivity, so we plan to make the hours that campus buildings are open more clear.
Additionally, we want to try to extend those hours to make study spaces more available
to students, especially around testing times.
Meal plans are a huge part of campus life, and we know that students have many
concerns and ideas when it comes to dining. We will help bring student input to the
dining committee, and we will also make sure information about meal plans is clearly
communicated to students.
We recognize the benefits that the presence of Greek Life on this campus
provides. Therefore, we want to make sure that Greek Life has a voice in SG and that
their concerns are heard. Improving communication between Greek Life, SG, and the
student body is an extremely important component of our platform.
As the largest university in the UNC system, NC State should take pride in the
vast amount of talent on this campus and across all of the departments. As student
leaders, we want to see equal representation of all colleges and we also want to
encourage more collaboration and support between the different colleges.
This campus and university are constantly changing, and we feel it is important
that students are always aware up to date on those changes. For instance, many
students do not know that next year we will have new busses for transportation. We
want students to be excited about these improvements and we want them to have input
regarding them as well.

Get Involved:
At this university, you have some great opportunities to expand your college experience
beyond the academic realm. As a part of our vision for a stronger campus community,
we want to make it easier for you to learn about these opportunities. Whether you are
looking to connect with peers who share your interests or build a new organization from
the ground up, we will make it easier for you to get involved in whatever way best suits
you.

One of the central goals of this campaign is to improve the connection between
Student Government and the student body. We want people to know about what SG
does on campus, and we also want people to feel comfortable coming to us. Student
government exists to serve the students, which is why your vision is our vision.
The get involved website has great potential as a resource to students, but we
know that it needs to be revamped. The students on this campus are so eager to join
organizations and make an impact on the NC State community, and so we will do our
best to make finding activities and opportunities as easy as possible.

Diversity/Awareness/Outreach:
NC State takes pride in being a diverse institution. With that said, we are committed to
promoting diversity with the actions we take, not just the words we use. We will work to
foster an inclusive community on campus where all people feel safe to express
themselves and voice their opinions. We are passionate about our plans to achieve this
goal from establishing more representation for minority groups to integrating diversity
within the undergraduate curriculum. As SBP and SBVP, we will be a voice for all
people; we want to hear your concerns, and together we can address them in the most
efficient and impactful way possible.

As student leaders, we plan to promote diversity at every level of this institution.

We want to reach out to potential students from all backgrounds, and we also want to
provide more diversity education on campus.
Transfer students and international students bring so much talent to this
university, and we want to provide them with more resources to make sure that they are
better represented in Student Government and the university as a whole. We want to
make sure that we appreciate the different cultures and ideas that these students
represent in our community.
We believe that the best way to solve problems is to address them with
immediate actions, and that is how we will handle any issues regarding the climate of
this campus. We will not ignore issues that are uncomfortable because our number one
goal is to see forward progress at this university.
We believe that promoting mental health should be the number one priority of
this university. The counseling center offers a great service to students, and we want
more students to utilize it. Additionally, we want to remove the stigma associated with
mental care on this campus so that everyone feels comfortable in taking care of
themselves.
The cost of college places a huge financial burden on students, so we will
continuously advocate for keeping this university as affordable as possible. We will also
make sure that we maximize the resources available to students so that everyone can
get the most out of their college experience.
ROTC students make up an important group of dedicated students on campus,
and we hope to improve our connections with them through SG. The ROTC students
can provide an additional perspective when it comes to coming up with new ideas or
solving problems, and it is our goal to make sure those students are included in the SG
organization.

Unique Ideas/Initiatives:
Here at NC State we love creative ideas. The Think and Do mentality is strong on our
campus and we want to see that continue to grow. We want to hear your great ideas!
What needs to be changed? How can your experience be improved? Your vision is our
vision, so we will always encourage feedback and new ideas! And, with your input, we
will work side-by-side with you to implement the changes that will enhance your
experience at this university. Feel free to take a look at some of the things we hope to
see on our campus in the near future below.

This portion of our platform is about you and your ideas! We want to help you
improve this campus and community in ways that will benefit the entire student body.
