Lesson 8 (아이스크림은 맛이 좋았다)

LINKING VERBS (연결동사) A linking verb is a verb which links or establishes a relationship between the subject and a term in the predicate which describes or renames the subject. It does not show action, but, rather, it links. The common linking verbs are be, appear, become, feel, seem, smell, taste, and sound. 연결동사는 주어와 진술해주는 단어를 이어주거나 관계를 성립시키는 역할을 한다. 행동이나 동작을 보여주기보다는 이어주는 역할을 한다. 일반적인 연결동사로는 Be 동사, appear, become, feel, seem, smell, taste와 sound 가 있다.

Tips *Be 동사 대표적인 연결 동사중에 Be 동사로는

was/were

가 있다.

Linking verb 에 대해서...
One way of testing for a linking verb is to replace the verb with the appropriate form of seem. If the sentence is still saying pretty much the same thing, the verb is a linking verb. 연결동사를 구분하는 한 가지 방법은, 보여 지는 대로의 적합한 형태로 대체하는 것이다. 문장이 거의 같은 것을 얘기할 때, 대부분의 동사는 연결동사이다. 예를 들어, Action Verb : He tasted the ice cream. (action) Linking Verb : The ice cream tasted good. (Tasted is used to help good describe the subject.) 동작을 설명하는 동사는 행위를 얘기하고 있지만, 연결해주는 동사는 물건이 보여 지는 대로 묘사하는데 쓰인다.
