positive year to continue

D
espite of severe winter weather kicking off the new year, there’s a positive outlook for this housing quarter thanks to the average sales in 2016,
said Steve Bohler, president of Sierra Nevada Association of Realtors.
For local housing markets, 2016 was a positive year as there was a gradual increase in the average sales prices. The average sales prices are
from year to year and quarter to quarter, which is an indication of a growth progression, he said.
These market trends include Carson City, Douglas, Lyon, and Washoe counties.
“The average days on the market for each of the areas has been extremely consistent, as have the number of sales,” Bohler said. “All in all, it looks to be a very
positive market for the coming year.”
The number of sales from 2015 and 2016 are close in numbers, which is another indication of safe steady growth Bohler said. The number of homes
currently on the market for each area has an average asking price consistent with previous sales prices for the last four quarters.
However, this statistic excludes Reno and Sparks; both locations appear to be slightly higher than the trends, he said. The interest rate increase is from
under four percent, to a little over four percent.
“This shouldn’t have a negative impact as they are still historically low,” he said.
Bohler has been active in the real estate industry for over 40 years in a variety of capacities, including Realtor, broker and general contractor. Back in 2003,
he opened his own real estate agency, Pinion Pines Realty, in Wellington. Bohler can be contacted at 775-465-2653 or stevebohler@gmail.com.

So many choices.
What types of plant material are you considering and what
kind of ambiance are you working toward? Remember, tastes
and needs vary. One person may want a yard that is an oasis or
refuge, while another may only plan to look at it through the

Life stages dictate changing needs.
How a young family uses yard space varies greatly from a
retired person. Our own physical changes and abilities to keep
up on our yards as we age, is also something to consider.

Ask for licenses and insurances.
This one step can go the distance in ensuring completion of
a project, and protection against unforeseen problems.
