Every year fruit bats migrate through the rainforests of the Democratic Republic of
Congo- good news for rural residents, who cook and eat animals as a source of protein.
After the hunters in her village bring home a large bounty, 20 year old Nicia helps
prepare the bloody carcasses for a festive meal without gloves and have some broken
skin at that time. A weak later, Nicia suddenly develops a sore throat, high grade fever,
and severe headache. Her symptoms worsen rapidly: she vomits blood and has bloody
diarrhea. Then she begins bleeding from her eyes, ears, nose, mouth and rectum. Soon
seizures rack her small body, and her liver and kidneys stop functioning. Five days after
her symptoms appeared, Nicia dies. Nicia’s grieving mother, aunt, and 15 year old sister
Odette carefully bathe her blood covered body and prepare it for burial. The whole
village turns out for her funeral. A few days later Odette complains of a bad headache
and sore throat. Her body temperature soars, and her muscles ache. Soon she, her
mother, and her aunt are vomiting blood and experiencing bloody diarrhea even as other
villagers start showing the same symptoms. The mysterious killer appears to be
spreading through the community. Terrified, the villagers contact the provincial
government in the city of Kananga and plead for help. When the medical team arrive,

List the possible mode of transmission.Microbiology Q2. What are the possible treatment available? How can we prevent this infection? Q5. nucleic acid.
