device to remember the order of the
planets and you are prompted to put them
in order. There is a quiz at the end

Space Place NASA: The Solar System https://spaceplace.nasa.gov/review/solar- The NASA game show all the planets in
system-explorer/game.swf the solar system as icons. You can from
there chose a planet. Once youve chosen
a planet, the program zooms in on that
planet and shows and moons, space
crafts or satellites in that planets orbit and
give information on each. Each icon that
has a (!) has a game that can be played
with it.

Gunn: Planets http://www.gunn.co.nz/astrotour/? This activity is one of my favorites. The


data=tours/retrograde.xml screen shows the understood set up of the
solar system. The cool part about this one
is that you can rewind/fast forward the
date to see how the solar system is
thought to have looked/will look at any
point in time.

I Know That: Our Solar System http://www.iknowthat.com/ScienceIllustrati This activity looks like a more kid friendly
ons/solarsystem/science_desk.swf version of some of the other ones. What is
nice about this one is that the name of the
planet is announced when it is clicked on.
You are given a table with celestial facts
that are things like what the planet is made
of, if it has rings, the moons and how far it
is from the sun.

Scholastic: Planet Pop Up http://www.scholastic.com/play/flash/game This game shows all the planet orbiting
space.swf the Sun. A single planet is displayed near
the bottom. The object of the game is to
click the planet that is displayed. Each
time you hit the correct planet, you are
given a new one. After each level a
factoid is displayed.

Your Weight on Other Planets http://www.amblesideprimary.com/amblew In this activity you simply put your weight
eb/planetweight/planet.htm into the Earth box, hit calculate and it
shows you how much you weigh on other
planets.

Brain Pop: Build a Solar System https://www.brainpop.com/games/buildaso This program allows you to build your own
larsystem/ solar system. Once you drag and drop
your selected planets, it shows you how
they orbit.

Soft Schools: Identify Planets http://www.softschools.com/science/space This game shows all the planets orbiting
/solar_system_kids_games/ as well as their orbit path. When you click
Start you are prompted to find each
planet. This would be a fun game after
studying them all to test what the kids
actually know.
