Sun, Oct-01 DEPART THE UNITED STATES
Depart your hometown and take an overnight flight across the
Atlantic. Enjoy in-flight entertainment and meal service as you
travel to start your vacation.
Mon, Oct-02 SHANNON ARRIVAL & DINGLE
After customs and immigration formalities at Shannon Airport,
your CIE Tours driver/guide will welcome you to Ireland. Upon
arrival have breakfast at a local venue with your group. Then con-
tinue to your hotel in Dingle and check in. Once you settle into
your room spend the balance of the afternoon free for individual
pursuits. In the evening join your fellow travelers for a welcome
drink followed by dinner in the hotel restaurant.
DINNER & OVERNIGHT: DINGLE SKELLIG HOTEL, DINGLE
Tue, Oct-03 SLEA HEAD EXCURSION
This morning travel to Slea Head at the western tip of the Dingle
Peninsula. This excursion will give you excellent views of moun-
tains and coastline and looking over to the Iveragh Peninsula.
Return to Dingle and visit the Louis Mulcahy Pottery. While here,
view the very best Irish hand-made craft Pottery in exquisite fine
porcelain and robust stoneware. The remainder of the afternoon
is free so you can sightsee and shop. Tonight, you may like to
dine at one of the many restaurants or pubs scattered through-
out Dingle.
OVERNIGHT: DINGLE SKELLIG HOTEL, DINGLE
Wed, Oct-04 CLIFFS OF MOHER & GALWAY
Leaving Dingle, take a short ferry ride across the River Shannon
Estuary. Drive along the coast of County to Clare to visit the
Cliffs of Moher, one of Irelands most beloved, natural landmarks.
See magical vistas, overlooking the shimmering Atlantic Ocean
along with Irelands Western coastline. Then travel to Galway
and check into your hotel. You may wish to relax at the hotel or
explore some of the bustling city before dining with your group.
DINNER & OVERNIGHT: PARK HOUSE HOTEL, GALWAY
Thu, Oct-05 ARAN ISLANDS & DUN AENGUS
Take a short ferry ride from Rossaveal to Inis Mor, the largest of
the three Aran Islands. These rocky islands are renowned for the
hardy islanders who maintained traditional fishing and farming.
The Irish language is still spoken widely. Take a minibus ride to
Dun Aengus, a huge pre-historic fortress perched on sheer cliffs,
which fall away to the Atlantic Ocean below. Take a look around
Kilronan, before heading back to Galway for a free evening.
OVERNIGHT: PARK HOUSE HOTEL, GALWAY
Fri, Oct-06 DRUMCLIFFE & LOCH ESKE CASTLE
Departing Galway, drive into County Sligo, one of Irelands most
scenic counties in Ireland. Continue to Drumcliffe Churchyard
to view W.B. Yeats grave. Then head to Mullaghmoore for an
independent lunch. After your visit, drive to your luxury hotel in
Donegal and check in. In the evening join your fellow travelers
for dinner at the superb hotel restaurant.
DINNER & OVERNIGHT: LOUGH ESKE CASTLE HOTEL, DONEGAL
Sat, Oct-07 SLIEVE LEAGUE
This morning visit Slieve League sea cliffs, where the highest
point reaches 1,972 feet making them the highest in Europe.
The cliffs drop straight down to the wild Atlantic waves below
and you will see marvelous vistas. Return via the scenic Glengesh
Pass to Donegal, where you will have some time to relax before
dinner with your group.
DINNER & OVERNIGHT: LOUGH ESKE CASTLE HOTEL, DONEGAL
Sun, Oct-08 RIVER SHANNON CRUISE & DUBLIN
After breakfast visit Hanna Hats, world famous for its tweed hats, wo-
ven wool, and other fine apparel. Next, head to Carrick-on-Shannon
to take the Moon River Cruise. While on board, enjoy the breathtak-
ing scenery of the River Shannon. Then travel to Dublin to take an
orientation drive. See the main thoroughfares of OConnell Street
and Nassau Street, the shopping streets and some lovely public
parks. After your panoramic drive, transfer to your hotel and check in.
You may wish to freshen up before sampling the local cuisine.
OVERNIGHT: DAVENPORT HOTEL, DUBLIN
Mon, Oct-09 HOP ON HOP OFF DUBLIN
Spend the day at leisure in Dublin, where you can choose from a
wide variety of pursuits. Use your Hop on Hop off pass to visit a
number of places. Also using your vouchers you may either visit
the Guinness Storehouse or the General Post Office. If you choose
to visit the Guinness Storehouse see exhibits on how this world
famous stout was first created and also enjoy a sample of the
finished product. If you decide to visit the General Post Office on
OConnell Street, learn about its role in the Easter Rising and how
it was left in ruins. There are also plenty of museums and shops
you may like to visit. This evening drive to the town of Rathfarn-
ham to Taylors Three Rock for dinner followed by a lively show.
OVERNIGHT: DAVENPORT HOTEL, DUBLIN
Tue, Oct-10 RETURN TO THE UNITED STATES
Sadly, today your vacation has come to its final day. Transfer to
Dublin Airport in good time to check in for your flight. You may
do some last minute shopping at the duty free stores before
boarding your aircraft and flying across the Atlantic Ocean back
to the United States.
