BE LIKE THE SAMARITAN The parable in today’s Gospel is one of the best known of all the teachings of Jesus. The term “Good Samaritan” has been used to name various charitable organizations and is even the official name of one state’s emergency roadside assistance program that helps stranded motorists. With the prevalence of the terminology used to describe various activities in our day, we might be led to forget the message of this Gospel passage. This man, this Samaritan, was the only one who offered the beaten man help. Samaritans, remember, were considered the lowest of the low in the time of Christ. A good Jewish person would not even have gone near a Samaritan for fear of being rendered impure. The Samaritan was motivated solely by the sense that the poor man needed help. He didn’t care about religious or social status. And Jesus’ message is that we are to do the same.

SECOND COLLECTION NEXT WEEKEND IS FOR THE MISSIONARY CO OP Our guest will be Brother Bill from the Congregation of the Resurrection Resurrection Fathers and Brothers The Congregation of the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ began in Paris, France, on February 17, 1836, under the leadership of Bogdan Janski. The charism which is the reason why we exist is to bring about the Resurrection of Society through parish work and education. We form faith communities that are imbued with the spirit of Jesus Resurrected and take the people where they are at and lead them to higher levels spiritually. We minister in the following countries, United States of America, Canada, Bulgaria Bolivia, Brazil, Poland, Italy, Bermuda, Austria, Germany, Australia and Africa. We are speaking about our mission in Montgomery, Alabama where we have a home for children with birth defects. We are the only facility that covers the states of Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi. There is a great need in this area. The other place that the Resurrectionists are entrusted with is a mission in Tanzania, Africa. The growth in the Catholic population is tremendous. Members of our Polish Province are entrusted with this mission. The need is great. We thank you for welcoming us to your parish to speak about the Missionary Work of the Congregation of the Resurrection in the church today.

GOD IS EVERYWHERE In everything, be it a thing sensed or a thing known, God is hidden within.
—St. Bonaventure

An exciting fundraiser based on professional baseball!
BaseballMania begins on June 7, 2010 and runs for the last 17 weeks of the professional baseball season. A ticket’s value in any given week is determined by the combined scores of the three baseball teams listed on the back of the ticket for that week. On the back of each BaseballMania ticket, you will see a different set of 3 teams for each of the 17 weeks of the fundraiser. Prizes are awarded each week of the fundraiser to the top 4 highest scoring tickets and the 2 lowest scoring tickets. At the end of the season, tickets with the most and fewest combined points for all weeks win grand prizes. See the front of your ticket for details on prize money amounts. A BaseballMania ticket is eligible to win prizes only after the date it has been activated by an organization on the website. Winners will be notified by the participating organization that distributed the BaseballMania ticket. All tickets are unique each week. Each ticket contains a unique set of 3 baseball teams each week of the season. Keep track of all your ticket stubs!!! All ticket stubs must be turned in by June 1, 2010 to St. Albert the Great School or rectory. Thank you for helping!
On behalf of the entire fundraising team, we would like to thank you for all the time and effort you are dedicating to help make this BaseballMania fundraiser a success.

R .C . I . A .
Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults

W h a t i s i t? W h o i s i t f o r ? RCIA is a preparation of adults seeking full membership in the Roman Catholic Church. Do you know someone who is interested in becoming a Roman Catholic or would like to explore the possibility of joining our faith, maybe you know someone who is baptized but not confirmed and is looking to be confirmed? The R.C.I.A. team is ready to meet these people and to walk with them on their journey to becoming Roman Catholic. To join the 2010 – 2011 R.C.I.A. you must be 18 years or older; either not baptized or baptized in a non-Catholic denomination; interested in joining the Roman Catholic faith or just want to find out more about us; in need of any Sacrament of Initiation: Baptism, Eucharist, or Confirmation. Meetings begin Tuesday September 14th and the group will meet every other Tuesday from 7:00 to 9:00p.m. and every other Sunday at various Masses. If you or someone you know would like more information please call Deacon Pete at the rectory (708) 423-0321.
Key Findings: Faith and Practice Survey Thanks to all who participated in the Archdiocese’s Faith and Practice Survey in April. The survey included questions that were directed at all teenage and adult Catholics, and others that were specifically directed at teenagers, adults, parents, and catechists. An executive summary of the survey is posted online at www.archchicago.org. The survey provided insight on a wide range of topics. A few highlights include: ** There is a major opportunity and need to increase the participation of teenagers in parish life. In our survey, Mass attendance as a teenager was the strongest predictor of adult Mass attendance. Significant numbers of teenagers and parents expressed an interest in having more opportunities and activities for Catholic teenagers, and the teen survey provided ideas as to what might make those activities more attractive. **There is a need to improve the understanding of the meaning and the value of the sacraments. **Catholic parents, even most of those who attend Mass infrequently, still want to pass a Catholic identity to their children, and to make sure that they are baptized and receive First Communion. This represents an opportunity to do more to evangelize these parents and their families. **Although respondents scored very well on a “quiz” of basic Church teachings, many Catholics wish they knew more about their faith. The Archdiocese will use the findings from the survey to work with parishes across the Archdiocese to improve our evangelization and formation efforts.

OD KS. RYSZARDA
Przypominamy o obowiązku katolickiego wychowania dzieci poprzez naukę religii i praktykowanie swojej wiary. W czasie karnawału w Dniu Polskim będzie grał zespół naszego organisty Pana Kamila, wystąpi zespół pieśni i tańca Wesoły Lud oraz Polski Presley. Będzie też wiele innych muzycznych, artystycznych i kulinarnych niespodzianek. Prosimy więc zarezerwować ten czas i spędzić go razem ze swoimi rodzinami w naszej parafii. Tematem spotkania będzie zadanie i rola Grupy Młodzieżowej w życiu parafii i korzyści jakie płyną z przynależności do takiej grupy.
