A Sound Spirit for a Healthy Body

Deut. 7:12-15; Prov. 14:30; 17:22; 18:14

We are spirits in a human body. The quality of life manifested in the human body is largely a reflection of
the state of the mans spirit. When we got born again, the Holy Spirit imparted into our spirits the Zoe-life
of God. This restoration made our spirits strong and sound, with the capacity to sustain and maintain our
bodies and minds in a stable healthy condition all the days of our lives on earth. The focus of our
discussion today is to understand how to enjoy divine health and healing for our bodies through continual
strengthening of our spirits.
Discussion
1. When the spirit of man is strong and sound, it is able to uphold and sustain the body and mind from
the attack of sicknesses and diseases in line with Gods promises. Can you mention, with
explanations, anything capable of weakening our spirits, and leading to ill health?

It is our responsibility as Christians to maintain a strong and sound spirit no matter what happens to us
or around us. The following are some ways by which we may do so:
a. Create time for fellowship with the Holy Spirit - listen to, hear and obey His instructions
promptly. (Hab. 2:1; I Kings 19:12, Eph 4:30)
b. Study and meditate on the word regularly. (Prov. 4:20-23; Jeremiah 15:16, 1Tim 4:15)
c. Make it a habit to regularly partake of the Holy Communion. (John 6:48-58)
d. Avoid sexual sins, and all acts that are offensive to God and can poison your spirit (I Cor. 6:19,
Eph 4:30-32)
e. Be quick to confess your faults to God and then ask and receive forgiveness from Him whenever
you err. (Ps. 51:10-12. 1John 1:7-9)
f. Learn to rejoice in the Lord always. Maintain a positive expectation. (Phil. 4:4;
1 Thess 5:16, Neh 8:10)

Mention others.

The life force of a man flows from his spirit. When the spirit is strong, it can uphold the body over and
above sickness and disease, and even enable a person never to fall sick all his life. As a child of God, when
you yield your spirit to the influence of the Holy Spirit, your spirit is continually revitalised with the life
of God (Rom 8:11). This translates to divine health and healing which is Gods will for you in Christ
Jesus (3Jn 2).

HEALTH IS MINE
Deuteronomy 7:12-15

Introduction:
Good health is part of God's salvation package for us. As His children, we ought never be sick or
weak. It is possible to go through life without falling sick, and the sure way to do this is to pray and
read the bible everyday. God is not pleased when we're ill, He needs us to remain hale and hearty to
preach His good news and to help the needy.

The Holy Spirit And Your Health

Exodus 15:25-26, Romans 8:11

The Holy Spirit takes over control of our lives when we become born again. He invigorates our
physical bodies as well as our spirits, so long as we maintain an intimate relationship with
Him. In communing with Him everyday, our spirits receive the strength needed to sustain our
bodies, ward off sicknesses and overcome diseases. This way, we live in optimum health -
because our spirit is healthy.

1. How do you think the Holy Spirit is connected to your health? Prov. 18:14

Here are a few tips on how you can consistently keep your body healthy and alive:
a. Spend quality time with the Holy Spirit and obey Him. John 6:63
b. Feed your spirit with knowledge revealed from the word. Prov. 4:20
c. Take the Holy Communion often. John 6:53
d. Be careful with your mouth- watch what you say. Prov. 18:21
e. Be kind and forgiving. Eph 4:32

Conclusion:
The Spirit of God in us brings the very life of God into our bodies. When the Spirit is in
control of our spirit, He will also affect the state of our bodies. This makes us whole and
healthy.

Your Health And Your Business 2

Ex 15: 26, Prov 18:14

Every business is first an idea in someones mind before it becomes a reality. Therefore, the human mind
drives innovation and changes in an organization. Every human being is made up of the spirit, the soul
and the body. The spirit sustains the body, so, in order for the body to be in sound health as we run our
businesses, we need to pay more attention to the spirit man.
Sound health as we studied last week is one of the benefits of the covenant. As Christians, our spirits have
been revitalised; we, therefore, need to pay attention to the spirit man which empowers the body.
According to Prov 18: 14 the spirit man will sustain the man in sickness.
The focus of our study today is on how we can ensure that the spirit man, who sustains the body, is cared
for in order for us to enjoy sound health as provided in the covenant.

1. In the light of the scripture below, how important do you think your spirit man is towards your well-
being as a Christian entrepreneur or employee of an organization?
"Prov 18:14 The spirit of a man will sustain him in sickness; But who can bear a broken spirit?"

Below are three important ways of engaging the Spirit of God to empower your spirit man for sustenance
of your body :
Fellowship with the Spirit of God regularly in prayer, meditation, worships etc. Rom 8: 11,
Isa 40:31
Communion with God is inhaling the spirit of God which strengthens the human body.

Take the Holy Communion regularly as a sign of the everlasting covenant. Jn. 6: 53,
1 Cor. 11:25, Psa. 105:8

The invisible part of man which is the spirit is very important in maintaining sound health as a Christian.
We need to nurture our spirit by feeding on the word of God and having fellowship with Him regularly.
Sound health is our inheritance in the covenant.
