Our Response

Thanks to everyone for sharing their experience of the library.
Thank you for your praise in recognition of our library service and staff. We strive to provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere for our customers and it’s always great to hear from our satisfied customers. We look forward to your next visit.

Would it be possible to schedule another visit from the bullying specialist?

The piano music is annoying! If he was playing different songs and notes it would be okay! I love how there is a wii and showing movies at the library is a great idea.

Thank you for your feedback. We are currently planning events and activities for the next six months. Although we are not planning on inviting Andrew Fuller to return to the library, we may have other specialists of interest. Steve Bidduph, author of Raising Boys and The secret of happy children will appear at the Arts Centre on Monday, 25 October. Tickets on sale soon from the Box Office, on 9784 1060. Thanks for all your feedback. We tried something a bit different on Sunday 23 May as part of our Library Week celebrations and will take your feedback into consideration when selecting musicians for future sessions. We are pleased that you are enjoying using the wii at your library.

Libraries have changed over the last few years and are now providing more programs and Whilst I do love the library, I believe it should be events, with varying levels of noise. a quiet place. Bands and shows should not be If you would like to know when it is more likely here. People come here for a quiet place to study to be quiet in the Library, please ask a staff and it should remain that way. Thank you :) member. You are welcome to use any of the study rooms in the library. Thanks for sharing your feedback with us. Newly acquired DVD’s should have a loan period of 1 week for a certain period of time. This would enable more people to see them. If somebody can’t find the time to watch a movie during the course of a week they mustn’t be that keen to see it. Thanks for your suggestion. We’ll monitor the feedback to see if this continues to be an issue and in the interim buy extra copies of popular titles so that they’re more readily available.

*The books seem to be all over the place –both fiction and non-fiction. *Very difficult to find books when not in correct locations. Authors should be at least grouped together not on up to 5/6 shelves. The problem is getting worse. Non fiction are the same = know it is difficult but its not that hard. Just need a bit of care. I think Frankston library is great because it has a great collection from book cd dvd etc

Our Response
As the fiction collection is arranged by the first 3 letters of the author’s last name, several authors may be grouped together. We have recently introduced 4 letters to overcome this problem. Non-fiction is arranged by subject not author, and so an author’s works may be spread across a number of areas. The catalogue is the best place to check where the works are held. Glad to hear you’re enjoying the range! The audio cassette format has not been purchased for many years as suppliers are phasing it out. We have recently removed our old items as they were old and worn and we will not be adding this format to the collection. There are options for playing CDs through older car stereos but would you would need to buy equipment to do so. Sorry to hear that the lower shelves are hard to reach. Please feel free to ask staff to assist you.

Regret that there are hardly any audio tapes to borrow. They all seem to be on disc & no use in my car. More tapes please.

‘Talking Books’ for myself and many other aged persons I find it very difficult to read and reach books on lower shelves. Firstly thankyou for providing the community with a great free facility. Over the past couple of months (approx 6 visits) almost every talking book has not been able to be scanned. I have had to wait whilst a library attendant places the approp stickers on the books for them to be logged. We sometimes have up to 15 books and therefore the delay can be quite lengthy for both myself and my 8 year old son. Is it possible to place a process where by as new items are purchased by the library they are catalogued before they enter the shelves for borrowing. Thankyou for taking the time to read my ideas and I hope that it assists w/ speedy borrowing in future. Could you please place all fast adult fiction together as it was. Get Nirvana: Live at Reading Have Wii games to hire. This library is fabulous. I come here all the time and have never not been able to find what I’m looking for

Thanks for raising this problem with us. The issue lay with the existing talking books, not with new items. It was recently audited and those without tags were labeled. You should have no problems now with speedy borrowing!

The Adult Fast Fiction was moved in response to many feedback requests to be closer to the main collection and so will remain in this location for now. Thanks for your suggestions. Thank you for your kind words.

The books placed on the new books stand vary daily and do not always include all formats / genres such as large print. Having a dedicated area/ sign would limit the space available for Would be helpful if a sign could be put at the new other items. If there is a large number of a book stand to indicate the area which has particular format or genre, e.g. large print or big/large print romance we try to group these together. As this stand is constantly changing it is best to look at all sides of the stand to make sure you don’t miss anything. Thanks for your feedback. Apologies for the delay in installing Google To the I.T. Administrator Again for the third time Earth back onto the public computers. We have can we please have Google Earth back on the had a number of delays with the change over to computers or at least could you say why it was new PCs in the public area. We have passed on stopped in the first place. Was told it months ago your request to the IT Support area to see if it would be back on line still waiting Google Earth can be installed before the new computers arrive. Thankyou!!! I desperately needed to do my tax, but also had my 6 yr old to entertain. So we came here, my son played Wii while I did my tax! Thank you for your feedback and suggestion. Really great – thank you Unfortunately there is only a small amount of One suggestion (if space ever permits) – it would room where the Wii is currently installed and a be really helpful to have some adult furniture table and chairs in the area would be a safety near the Wii ‘zone’. Then we can do our own hazard. thing there too and keep an eye on their behaviour and noise level. Can you please review policy of late attendance for Public PCs time frame. There was confusion. I was delayed in helping a frail 90 year old man who needed help after a fall, I helped with getting Part of the conditions of use of the public bus information and walking him to the bus stop. computers is that bookings will be cancelled if I got into Frankston at 10 to 2 and I got into the the customer does not attend their booking library and spoke to one of the staff members at within 15 minutes of the starting time. 15 2.07. Please confirm if there is a 15 minutes time minutes was decided on as the fairest amount if late, if not what is it? of time to hold a computer for late comers after it was trialed when we initially installed the Most of the computers have been reserved but public computers. the reserved person does not turn up. When a genuine person like me comes we don’t get the computer. It is very very distressing. Can the situation have a solution please.
