ChapterIGVIFandrearcamerainstallation

WhyhaveaGVIFInterface?MostpeoplebuytheGVIF(GigabitVideoInterFace)unitasasolutiontothe
lackofareversingcameraontheDiscoveryIII.WhilethereisevidenceLandRoverhadthoughtofthe
possibilityoffittingareversingcameratotheDiscoveryIII,itseemstheynevergotaroundtodoingso.
TheGVIFallowsforareversingcamerafeedtobetriggeredautomaticallybyselectingreversegearand
theoutputdisplayedontheSatNavscreen.Havinganadditionalthreeinputsourcesalsomeansyoucan
displayprettymuchanythingyouwishwhichhasacompositeRCAvideooutputtotheSatNavscreen.
PeoplehaveuseditforTVs,DVDs,CarComputers,iPodvideos,thepossibilitiesareendless.Youalsoget
thebenefitofadditionalcompositevideoandaudiooutputs,whichyoucanthenfeedadditional
monitorslikeheadrestscreens,forexample.ThischaptercoverstheinstallationoftheGVIFunititself
andthereversingcamera.

Howmuchwillitcost?Thereareanumberofsuppliersonlinewithvaryingpricesandcurrencies,butat
thetimeofwritingthis,youshouldexpecttopayanythingbetweenGBP250andGBP350including
deliveryandtaxesforabasicunit.Thereisatleastonemoreelaborateunitinthemarketwhichgoesa
stepfurtherbyaddingabuttonandsomemenusonthehomescreenoftheDiscoverysSatNavdisplay
costingaroundGBP500(notcoveredinthisguide).Thendependingonwhatyouchoosetouseitfor,
approximatelyGBP25toGBP100forareversingcameraandwhateverthecostofyourotherinput
sourcesis.YoushouldfactorinsomeRCAcabling,afewbitsfromanelectricalshop(aboutGBP2030
includingthecables)andthecostofyourtime,whichshouldntbemorethan35hoursfortheGVIFand
cameradependingonfittinglocationandhowquickyouarewiththreadingwires.

Anyotherthingstoknowbeforeproceeding?Yes.ThereareseveralversionsofGVIFinterfacesout
thereatthemoment,thisguidewaswrittenbasedonaversion6.2unit.VariationsinspecdoexistandI
wouldrecommendyouatleastreadthemanualsuppliedwithyourunitorfromthesiteyourpurchased
itfrom,toatleastgetanideaofthefeaturesyourunitsupports.Youshouldalsoknowthisunitisnot
LandRoverspecificfrommostsuppliersandassuchyoumayneedtopurchaseanadditionalLandRover
cablefromthem.Theunitusedinthisguidehadsuchacablealreadyincludedinthepackage.

Therearetwopartstothismod,installingandsettinguptheGVIFandfittingtherearviewcamera.Iwill
describetheminthisorder,thoughyoucouldstartwiththecamerainstead.

PartIInstallingtheGVIF

Toolsrequired:cablestripper,crimpingtool,pliers,setoftorxscrewdrivers(T15,T20andT30atleast),
Phillipsscrewdriverset,solderingiron,electricaltape,heatshrinkingtubeandabout1hoursforthis
part.Itisalwaysgoodifamultimeteristohand,atleastforcontinuitytesting.
Partsrequired:GVIFinterface,20cmtwin2mmcable(forextendingtheunitspowercable),2xLucar
connectors(setofmaleandfemale),5xsnaplockconnectors(bluewhichfit1.12.6mmcables),RCA
audiomaletominijackcable,(lengthtoyourrequirements,dependingonwhereyoufittheGVIF,butfor
thisinstallationforexample,1.82.5mshouldbeplenty),strongdoublesidedtapeorVelcro,cableties.
Oh,andafewbandaidsforwhenhandsarecutwhilethreadingwires!

AsImentioned,thecontentsoftheboxvaryandIdidnttakeapictureofminewhenIopened
everything,butbroadlythisiswhatyouget(picturefromthemanual):

TheresaloomwithalltheAVinputsandoutputs(bottomleftonthepicture),aloomwiththefused
powersourceandCANbusconnections(barewires,topleft,wellonlyusethegreyreversegearsensing
one),acablefortheRGBinput(unusedintheD3,barewires,shortwhitecablemiddleleft),asource
switchingbuttonandcable(black,middleleft),aninfraredreceiverterminalandcable(topright,you
canomitproperfitmentifyouareonlygoingtoseteverythinguponce),aninfraredremotecontrol
(bottomusedtoaccesstheGVIFsettings,youcanomitfulltimeusageifyouareonlygoingtoset
everythinguponce),andtheGVIFcableitself(bottomright).Everythingisclearlylabelled,andthereare
notwosameconnectorssoverylittlechanceofmissingwhatgoeswhere.

Thefirststepistomakeanextensionforthepowercable.Thoughonecouldusetheloomthatprovides
powertotheLRSatNavDVDunit,Ihaveoptedtotapintothepowersocketsthecaralreadyhas.AsI
wasalsoinstallingheadrestscreensatthetime,Ioptedtotapintothefrontdriverssidepowersocket,

butthemethod(andextension)canequallybeusedwiththepowersocketattherearofthecentre
console.

ItinnedtheendsoftheGVIFpowercableandsoldered&crimpedacoupleofmalespadeconnectorsso
Icouldremovetheunitlaterifneededeasily.Similarly,Icrimpedfemalespadeconnectorstooneendof
theextensionandlefttheotherenduntouched.Thiswillbestrippedbythesnaplockconnectorwhen
fullyclosed/locked.

Inmyinstallation,Iusedtheextensionprovidedwiththeheadrestscreenstosnaplocktheotherendto,
butyoucanusethecablesoftheconnectorthatsuppliespowertothecarsocketsdirectly.Fortherear
powersocket,lockthe+vetothepurplecableandthevetotheblackcable.Forthefrontleftsocket,
the+veisthepinkcablewhereasfortherightthe+veisthegreen/whitecolouredcable.

Beforegoingtothecarforfitting,itisrecommendedtoletitgocompletelytosleep,byengagingthe
EPB(electronicparkingbrake),removingthekey(thedoorscanbeleftunlocked,butIalwaysleavethe

driverswindowfullyopenaswellforgoodmeasure)andwaitingfortheparkingindicatorinthe
instrumentclustertogooff.

Atthispoint,rollupyoursleeves,haveahotdrinkofyourchoice,andreadthroughthenextparagraphs
onhowtoremovethepanelsoftheconsolesinordertoreachthecarspowersockets.

Whetheryouchosethefrontorrearpowersocket,youwilldefinitelyneedtoremovethecentreconsole
uppertrims.Itsnotdifficult,justtakeyourtime.First,grabthegearlever(thisisforanautobox)firmly
withbothhandswhileinpark(P),andpullverticallyupwards.Itissecuredverystifflyandwillgiveway
suddenlysodonotkeepyourfaceoveritasinjurymayoccur(afewforummembersstillhavefacial
bruisesfromlookingstraightdownatitwhenremovingLOL).Storetheleversomewherefornow.
Removetherubbermatfromtheareaunderandbetweenthepowersocketsandthecupholderinserts.
Putthosetoonesideaswell.Next,removethesunglassescubbybypullingitout(itcomesoffeasily)
andtheplasticcoverbehindtheEPBlever(again,youcaneasilypriseitupwithyourfingers).Unscrew
theT15screwjustinfrontoftheEPBandstorethelotsomewheresecurely.Ifyoucanreachatthis
stageunplugthegreenEPBconnectoraswell(dontworryifyoucantwelldoitlater).

Nowmovetothebackseatandslidebothfrontseatsallthewayforward.Openthecentreconsolelid
andremovethetoptray.ClosethelidagainandlocatethetwoT30screwsatitsrear(oneeachside).
Undotheseandprisethesilvercoveroutwards(Ididminewithmyfingers,youmayneedtheassistance
ofaplasticknife/spoonastheyarequitestifftoo).Ifyouhavethetelephoneconnectorinstalledinthe
lid,openitallthewaybackandundothefourscrewsthatsecureittothelidanddropitgentlyinthe
centrecubbybox(orcoolboxifyouhaveone).Liftthelidto90degreesuntilthelocatinggapsexpose
theplasticlugsthatsecureittotheswivelmechanism(thisiswheretheT30screwsweremovedattach).
Thenliftthelidupwardsandputitaside.

Backtothefrontseats,slideitbacksoyoucansitcomfortablyandgrabtheblackplastictrimfrombelow
thecupholders,liftingupuntilyoufeelthetwofrontclipsthatholditgive.Dontpullitanyhigheryet.
Nowgrabthesametrimpieceasfarbackasyoucan(ideallyjustasitstartstiltingupwards)from
underneathandpullupwardsuntilthefourrearclipsgive.Finally,liftthemiddlesectiontoundothetwo
middleclipsiftheyvenotcomelooseyet.Youcannowlifttheentirepieceabout1015cmuntilthe
connectorcableswontallowanymorelift.DisconnecttheEPBgreenconnectorbypinchingtopand
bottomandpullingbackwards,disconnecttheTerrainResponseconnectorandtheRideHeight
connectorandyoucanliftthepiececompletely.Putittoonesideaswell.

Atthebackoftheareayouhaveexposedupjustbelowtherearupperclip(seepicabove),locatethe
twoscrews(oneeachside)thatsecurethecoolbox/cubbyboxandundothem.Disconnectthepower
connectortothecoolbox(iffitted).Thengrabthecubbybox/coolboxandpullupwardsHARD.Likethe
gearlever,itwillgivesuddenlyduetostiffclipsatthebottom,dontkeepyourheaddirectlyaboveit!!!
Becarefulnottopullitallthewayoutyetifyouhavethephonecradle,theresonemoreconnectorthat
needstobeundonebutitsonlyaccessiblewhenthecoolboxishalfwayout.Nopicturesfromthat,
sorry,butifyoufollowthephonecradlecableyouwillfindithalfwaydownthecoolbox.
Whetheryoureusingthefrontorrearpowersockets,youwillnowhaveaccesstoboth.Ifyougoforthe
rearone,youmayfinditeasiertopullthepanelwiththepowersocketoutbygentlyprisingit(see
bottompictureonpage3)anddisconnectthepowerconnectorbeforeproceeding.

Next,liftthepassengerseat(ordriverseatforLHDcars)allthewayupandslideitfullyforward.Thiswill
providegoodaccesstotheareawheretheGVIFwillbeinstalled.WefirstneedtothreadtheGVIFs
powercableundertheseatrailsandupthroughtheonlyavailableopeninginthecentreconsole.Ifound
iteasiertothreadmyextensionfrominsidethenowemptycentreconsolearea,fishitwithmy
fingersfromunderneaththeexternalsideoftheconsoleandplugintheGVIFconnectorsImade.Ithen
gentlypulledtheexcessbackinthecentreconsole,feedingthecablewithmyotherhandfromthe
outside.Theopeningyouneedtouseisthebottomleftoftwocolumnsofsquareventsonthe
passengersideoftheconsole:

Ithreadedthewiringbehindthebiggreyconnectorthroughtothefrontarea,leftofthegearbox
selectorandtotheleftoftheleftlocatingslatsfortheplastictrayatthefrontendoftheconsole.
RememberItappedintothedriverssidepowersocketusingtheheadrestscreensconnectorbutyou
canusesnaplocksinstead:

Ifyouwanttoaccessthefrontpowersockets,youwillneedtoremovetheHpanelbypullingfirmlyatits
lowerend(lowerredarrows).Thenpulltheupperendtowardsthecabinaswellanditshouldpopoff.If
yourfingersdontfitorcantgrabthebackofthepanel,youcan(atyourownrisk!!!)useanaid(inthe
formofaplasticwedgeorflatscrewdriverwiththebusinessendwrappedinelectricaltape).

Itisalmostcertainoneormoreofthemetalretainingclipswillspringoff,hopefullysomewhereyoucan
retrievethem.Ifforsomereasonyoucannot(andIwouldadvisetohavesomespareifyoutinkerwith
theDiscoanyway),theLandRoverpartnumberforthemisFYC500040.

Youwillthenneedtounscrewthetwotorxscrewsthatholdthesocketspaneltothedashandpullback
verystronglyasagaintheclipsholdingitbackareveryfirm(thisisassumingyouhavealreadyremoved
thetrimaroundthegearleverifnotthepowersocketpanelwillnotcomeoff).

Atthispointitisstronglyadvisabletocheckthateverythingworksbeforereassemblingthecentre
consoleandtrim,hencewearegoingstraightforthenextstepleavingeverythingasis.

Videoconnection
Backunderthepassengerseatfromthebehindit,youshouldbeabletoclearlyseethefactorySatNav
DVDunitwiththreeconnectorstotheback:darkblue,lightblueandgrey.Theonetodisconnectisthe
middlelightblueone:

Plugallthecablesinthepackagedescribedonpage2intotheGVIFconnectors(includingtheIRsensor,
youwillneedthistocalibratetheunit)andobservetheGVIFcablecarefully:thereisamaleandfemale

Audioconnection
Discovery3HSEsandsomeSEsIbelieve,alreadyhaveanauxiliaryaudioinputnexttothepowersocket
underalidintherearofthecentreconsole.Thisauxiliaryaudioinputcablingrunsthroughthecarand
atseveralpointsyoucantapintoitwhereconnectorsareused.Theeasiestlocationformewasthe
passengerfootwellkickpanel:toaccess,youneedtounscrewthebonnetreleaselever(T20torx)just
enoughtopulloutthelever(thescrewstaysinit)andthengentlyunclipthepanel.Youmayneedtolift
thefloorplastictrimalittleandpullbacktherubbersealaroundthedoor(dontpullthefeltasitmay
tear,gripthewholerubberinstead).Thisiswhatyoullfindbehindit(Ivedisconnectedtheplugtobe
usedforclarity):

Thepluginquestionhastwosectionstoit,weneedtheonewiththered,blueandblackwires.These
are:RED:rightchannel,BLUE:leftchannel,BLACK:ground.GetyourRCAminijackcable,chopofthe
minijack(keepthisitwillbeneededlater!)andstriptheinsulation.Youllendupwithsomethinglikethis
(redcableisrightchannel,whiteisleftandeachisscreenedinitsowngroundingmesh):

Stripboththewhiteandredcablesandtwistbothgroundingcablesintooneandyoullendupwith
somethinglikethesecondpicture(Ivegoneanextrastepandinsulatedpartofthegroundwithsome
heatshrink).AtthispointIconsideredusingsomesnaplockconnectorsbutfoundthatthecableswere
toothin,evenforthesmallestsnaplocksIhad:

SoIrevertedtousingsomeleftoverspadeconnectorsIhadleftfromanotherprojectandcrimpedthose
totheends.Youcanofcoursesimplyuseonesnaplockperchannelandconnectasabove.Thatsallthe
modificationrequiredtothecable,younowneedtofeeditdowntotheconnectorbehindthekickpanel
(Ichosetohavetheinputsinthelowergloveboxwhichmakesitrelativelyeasytofeedthrough)and
connectitbypushingfirmlyintotheexistingplug:

Ivealsousedcabletiestosecurethenewlymadecabletotheexistingoneforaddedstability.
Atthispointevenifyouconnectsomethingtotheaudioinputjustmadenosoundwillcomefromthe
speakers.ThisisbecausethereisashortingswitchbuiltintotheAUXconnectorintherearofthecentre

console,whichistheretosafeguardthesystemfromunwantedhissingiftheAUXinputisselectedon
theheadunitwithnoinputpluggedin.Toovercomethis,findthe3.5mmminijackwechoppedoffthe
cableearlier,cuttheplasticstalkabouthalfwaythroughwithahacksawandthenfile/grindtherest
untilyouhaveabout4mmofthestalkleftthiswillallowtheflipcovertocloseproperly.Minewas
whitesoIpainteditblackwithapermanentmarker:

Younowneedtoplugthisintheauxiliaryinputandthiswillenablethesoundfromtheconnectorwe
justtappedto:

Nowyouneedtothreadtheremainingcable(withtheRCAends)towheretheGVIFwilllive.Inthis
installation,giventheGVIFunitlivesunderthepassengerseat,thereweretwooptions:eitheralongthe
lowerendofthedoor,undertheplastictrim,oraroundthefootwellandunderthecentreconsoleand

undertheinnerseatrailtotheGVIF.Ichosethelatter,usingcabletiestoholdtheaudiocablebehind
thelowergloveboxthensimplytucketthecableunderthecentreconsoleandfinallypusheditinthe
seamofthecarpetandundertheinnerpassengerseatrail,totheGVIF.

Testing
WeareonlygoingtotesttheAVinputsatthisstage(notthereversingcamera),soplugyourvideo
source(YELLOWmaleRCAconnectorusually)totheyellowfemaleRCAconnectorofAV1andtheaudio
RCAconnectors(REDandWHITE)andswitchiton.TurnthekeyintheignitiontopositionII(orstartthe
engineifyouhaveconcernsoverdrainingthebattery)andsetthescreentoSatNav(youdontneedto
acceptthedisclaimer).TheGVIFbynatureonlyworkswhenSatNavisselected;itwillnotworkifyouare
inthe4x4InfoscreenortheSettingsscreen.

UsingeithertheIRremote(putthebatteryin!)orthehardwiredselector(alsoseePartIIIsection
below),selectAV1andensuretheimageisdisplayedonthecarsscreen.Assumingitis,gobacktothe
unit,unplugtheyellow,redandwhiteconnectorsandrepeattheprocedureforAV2andAV3.Iusedmy
oldZenVisionfortesting:

TheAVloomalsohastwovideoandoneaudiooutput,youmayalsowanttotestthesewhileyouareat
it(IusedthemainunitfromaDogcamcameraIhave).Assumingallworksok,switchtheengine/ignition
off,openthetailgateforPartIIandletthecargobacktosleep...

10mmsocket,electricaltape,heatshrinkingtubeandabout2hoursforthispart.Itisalwaysgoodifa
multimeteristohand,atleastforcontinuitytesting.
Partsrequired:5mtwin2mmcable(forextendingthecamerasandGVIFpowercable),4xsnaplock
connectors(redwhichfit1.12.6mmcables),cableties,WD40orsimilarlubricant.Oh,andmorethana
fewbandaidsforwhenhandsarecutwhilethreadingwires!

Thereareobviouslyanumberofcamerasonecanuseforthisapplication,whetherbumpermounted,
tailgatehandlemounted,suctioncupmountedoranythingthatfitsyourpurpose.Ihaveoptedfora
tailgatehandlecamera,asthisisinmyviewtheneatestlookingoneandasclosetoOEMascanget(the

obviousthepowercableneededtobeextended.Theadditionalrestrictionisthattherubbertubingit
willthreadthroughatthetopofthetailgateisfairlynarrow,soIcouldnthaveusedconnectorsor
snaplockstodothejob.SoIwentthelesselegantwayoftwistingthesuppliedpowercablesbarewires

inwiththestrandsofmyextension,tinningtheconnectionandusingelectricaltapeandheatshrinkto
secureeverythingbetter.Youneedabout130cmofextension:

Byusingthickercableyoualsoincreasethediameterusedbythesnaplockwellusetotapintothe
reversinglight+ve.Ifyougothisroute,itisadvisabletocheckyourconnectionsbydoingacontinuity
test:putoneendofthemultimeter(setatcontinuity)insidetheholeofblackconnectorattheendof
thesuppliedwire(+ve)makingsuretherescontactwiththeinnerwallsandwiththeotherendofthe
multimetertouchtheendoftheredstrandoftheextension.Dothesamewiththeblackend,butusing
theoutervisiblemetalsectionoftheconnector.Iftheresnocontinuity(checkyourmetersmanualfor
howtosetitup),thejointisfaultyandneedsredoing.

Withtheuppersectionofthetailgateopen,unscrewtheonlyPhilipsscrewsecuringthelowertrimfirst:

lightcluster,theRCAcabletowardsthefrontofthecar,behindtheleftbootpanel,totheGVIF.Itsalso
agoodideaatthispointtothreadthroughtheextensionoftheGVIFreversesensingwire(grey),asthe
cableprovided(attachedtotheconnectordescribedearlier)isonlyabout100cm.Youllneedan
extensionofaround180cmforthis.

cablesatthehandleareallclearofthebodywork(Iusedacabletietosecurealengthincludingthe
heatshrunkconnectorsinsidethehandle),andrefitthehandlefully(4torxand310mmbolts).Now
routethetwo(videoandpower)cablestothelowerleftcornerofthewindow,securewithacabletie,
andmovetothetopleftcorner,securingwithanothercabletietheretoo.

passengerseataswell).Startwiththelowertrimofthepillarnexttothefrontpassngersideunderthe
seatbelt;4clipsholditinplace,justpulltowardstheseatanditsout.Next,lifttheplastictrimwiththe
LRlogoonituntiltheclipsgiveway.Therearefrommemory7clipsalltogether,allofwhichwillgive
waybutremaininthefloorpanelend(wheretheOEMwiringharnessgoesunder).Itisimportantyou
CARFULLYliftthoseoutwithsomepliersortweezers,iftheyfallthroughitsarealpaintoretrievethem.

Onceyouhaveundonethescrews,pullthelightclusterbackwardstoreleasetheholdingpinsandundo
theconnector.PutthelighttoonesideandinthewiringthatendsintheconnectorlocatetheGREEN
withBROWNwire(thatsthereverse+ve)andtheALLBLACKwire(ve).
Locatethecamerapowercableweleftintherearleftcubbyandthreaditthroughtheopeningbehind
thelightcluster,underthetopflap.Tolocatethisfromtheinside,Ijustfeltmewaywithmyhand,but
becarefulnottoknowanythingelseoutofplace!Thenusingsnaplocks,jointhered(+ve)wiretothe

gloveboxasInolongerhaveneedtohaveaccesstoit.

Inhindsight,andgivenInowwanttohavetheabilitytoseethecameraimagewithoutputtingthecarin
reverse,Ihaveconsideredrewiringthepowertothecameratobefedbythepowersocketintheboot.
Todothis,theprocessissimilartowhatisdescribedabove,butuseonlyonesnaplocktotherearlight
clusterfortheGVIFreversesensingcable.Feedthecamerapowercableasdescribed,butinsteadof
threadingitthroughtheflattobehindthelightcluster,feeditupwardstotheauxpowersocket.Then
usesnaplockstotapboth+veandvefromthere.Thesocketcableandplugisreasonablyaccessible
simplybypullingouttheleftboottrimasdescribedabove.Ifyou(likeme)undothesnaplocks,
remembertotapeoverthewirestheywereattachedto,toavoidshortcircuitsorrefittheGVIFscable
snaplockwhereyouhadjoinedthecamera.

Intheendhowever,Idecidedtohaveaslightlymorecomplicatedpowersetupforthecamera:aspartof
anothermodIamintheprocessofmaking,Iwantedthecameratotakepowereitherbyaswitchfitted
inthefrontsoIcanfeedamultiplexerwhichgoestoAV3oftheGVIF,orautomaticallypowerupwhenin

everytypeofaudiofile,almosteverytypeofvideofile,mostcommonpicturefiles,hasenough
inputs/outputsforfeedingboththeGVIFandrearscreenswhilealsobeingabletobeusedasapass
throughforsayanextraTVtuner,andtotop,alltheabovecanbedonefromeitherofthreemedia:disks
(CD/DVD,anyFATandFAT32formattedUSBdriveoranyFATorFAT32formattedSDcardthoughthis
unitonlysupportslowspeedSDcards).Acceptingdisksisalsoconvenientonthemove,incasesomeone
inthecarbuyssayanewDVDthatyoujusthavetowatchthereandthen.Thereareofcoursemany
otheralternativesincludingotherplayerssupportingavarietyofformats.

(thesearetheSMBRCAcablesuseddirectlyonthebackoftheLRSatNavscreen).Igotalittlepaneland
drilledholesfortheplugs.IalsogotsomesingleRCAplugstobringoneoftheGVIFinputsinthe
gloveboxatalaterstage,whichIfittednowbutnotyetwired:

Onceallholesaredrilled,justpushtheunitscablingthroughandtaketothecar.Iusedrubber
grommetsforbothsetsofwires(oneshownaboveisthemainAVandremotecontrolplugs,theotheris
thepowercablesonmyunit).Ialsosolderedmalespadeconnectorstothepowercablestomatchthe
cablingwaitinginthecarandcoveredtheprotrudingscrewtipswithLOTSoftapetoavoidthem
catchingonanythingtheyshouldnt(thoughinhindsightthatsnotnecessary):

AtthisstageIrealisedIhadnotthreadedthecablefortheIRremotesupplied,whichIwantedtofitnext
totheleftpowersocket.Asitsquitechunky,IhadtothreaditscableupwardstotheleftoftheHVAC
andIHU(withtheHTrimremoved)androutetothesamespottheAVcablesfromtheGVIFwere
waitingthiswasarealPITAtocompleteasthereareotherLRcablesinthewaybepreparedforlots
ofswearingandcuts!Ialsousedajumbopaperclipbentasahooktohelpwithfishingitfromthetop
side.

Nowthateverythingisinplace,itssimplyaquestionofconnectingtotheunit,tidyingthecablesso
theyrenotinthewayandrefittingthegloveboxthisinvolvesmakingsureallmetalclipsareintheir
placeandsimplypushingbackinuntilitlockssecurely.Ifounditeasiertohavethelowergloveboxfully
open(pinchthetwoplasticrunnersthatholditopentofullyloweritdown),soIcouldreachfrombelow
andpullbackthecablesastheuppergloveboxwasbeingputinplace.Thelastthingistoputtheleft
airventcoverbackonaswellandthatsit.Hereshowminelookswithalltheotherparaphernaliathat
