20 th Century Fox Large Company
20th Century Fox Film Corporation originated from the
ideology, creativity, and motivation of William Fox- a
Hungarian, movie-loving enthusiast who settled in New
York City
Fox moved to Los Angeles in 1915 and named his
independent film studio Fox Film Corporation
Unfortunately, in 1930 (the entryway into the United
States Great Depression) Fox lost economic control of
his company
5 years later, Foxs company was revived- the Fox Film
Corporation merged with the movie powerhouse
Twentieth Century Pictures to form Twentieth Century-
Fox!

What type of movies do 20th Century Fox and New

Regency Productions usually produce?
20th Century Fox
At the rise of the company in 1933, 20th Century began
tapping into current news events for subject matter,
with releases like the gangster films Little Caesar and
Public Enemy.
As time progresses, it is clear that 20th Century Fox
corresponds with the events of the time period
o Ex) During WWII, two Academy Award-winning
films were produced: The Grapes of Wrath (1940)
and How Green Was My Valley (1941)
o Producers/directors created combat and training
documentary films
Films attack controversial issues in their plots (Ex: The
Snake Pit - mental illness and Hidden Figures - racial
conflictions
After basic observation of movie releases involving
20 th Century Fox within the past decade, it appears
that they are heavily involved in producing family
films (most films are rated PG-13 and below.)
o Ex films: Marmaduke (2010), Ramona & Beezus
(2010), The Fault in Our Stars (2014), The
Peanuts Movie (2015), and Trolls (2016)
New Regency Productions
Due to the small size of New Regency Productions, the
company often distributes its movies through 20th
Century Fox
Based on films produced within the last decade, it
appears that New Regency heavily partake within the
family genre.
o Ex) Little Manhattan (2005), Firehouse Dog (2007),
The Big Momma series (2011 etc.), and Monte
Carlo (2011)
Occasionally, New Regency engages in far more
meaningful, fearsome, and lengthy films
o Such as; 12 Years a Slave in comparison to Alvin &
The Chipmunks or Bride Wars
