a. What are some different categories of stereotypes?
Race, sex, age, sexual orientation, religion, and physical ability, etc.
b. What is one of the stereotypes you’ve heard of that is listed in the
1992 gender study?
That males were stronger and more adventurous than females who
were sentimental, and superstitious.
c. Why has mass media been considered significant to stereotyping?
It has a strong influence in supporting and tearing down
stereotypical characteristics.
d. Why are stereotypes functional?
We have more information than we can process, so our tendency is
to reduce complexity to simplicity, and we trade-off for
simplification, which leads to inaccuracy and we are often unaware
of this deduction.
e. What is the most influential factor in stereotyping? Why?
Prejudice, because our perceptions are highly subjective, and many
people subscribe to derogatory descriptions of ethnic groups, so
when people of that ethnic group come or we see them somewhere
we think of them with prejudice.

5. Define family dynamics.
Family dynamics are common patterns that you and your family share
throughout life.

My family dynamics are going to church on Sundays, and celebrating
holidays like other families, also reading the Bible every night at 8.
