Invitation

to IPLE’s 16th International Seminar

“PRODUCTIVE LEARNING –
THE NEW ROLE AND COMPETENCIES OF PL - EDUCATORS”
in co-operation with OPEKO and MY OWN CAREER (Finland)

November 27 to December 3, 2004 in Heinola and Helsinki (Finland)

Dear Madam or Sir,

Dear colleagues and friends,

the Institute for Productive Learning (IPLE), Berlin, invites you to participate in IPLE’s
16th International Seminar “Productive Learning – the new Role and Competencies of
PL Educators” which will be held from November 27 to December 3, 2004, in Heinola
(Finland). The seminar will be organised in co-operation with OPECO and MY OWN
CAREER, Finland.

The seminar is addressed to all INEPS-partners and their educators as well as to

administrators and politicians who have to decide on PL projects and their further
development. Invited are also educators, administrators and politicians who are in-
volved in other educational programmes and who wish to develop their work via the
approach taken by Productive Learning. During the seminar they will get the chance
to find out more about Productive Learning in theory and in practice.

The subject of IPLE’s 16th International seminar is closely related to IPLE’s last semi-
nar in Berlin in October 2003, which had the topic “Productive Learning – its Methods
in Practice and in Theory”: The educator is the “animator” of every Productive Learn-
ing project; she/he has to transform PL ideas and PL methods into concrete educa-
tional activities. Therefore, the educator has to develop a new professional role, a
new professional understanding of him/herself, and a set of new professional compe-
tencies.

Over the last twenty years, Berlin PL educators and IPLE as well as PL educators in
Finland and in other countries have worked out, developed, experienced, and ana-
lysed their new roles. Via our distance study programme, IPLE has created an impor-
tant instrument to support the growth of PLE educators’ competencies.
