PREFACE Extent of e-learning effectiveness and efficiency in an integrated blended learning environment is an excellent research paper and shows the hard work and research done by the writers especially by Shafqat Hameed. The paper is written in a very professional and authentic way and not just the format but the context is original and valuable; the paper fulfill all the requirements of a research paper and is available on many internet websites including the ‘Google Scholar’ which shows the authentication and the perfectness of the paper. TITLE OF THE PAPER First of all the title is accurate according to the teachings of “Research Methods” as it tells exactly about the topic specifically the main research question but there is one thing missing in the title i.e. according to the introduction only the Universities present in United Kingdom are taken into account while writing this paper therefore this fact should be mentioned in the title: Extent of e-learning effectiveness and efficiency in an integrated blended learning environment in the UK. Another thing mentioned in the introduction and can been seen throughout the article is that the article not only talks about the effectiveness and efficiency of the e-learning in an integrated blended learning environments but also discusses the differences between only the e-learning and the blended learning this is an important factor which is presented throughout the article there for it must have been part of the title. INTRODUCTION OF THE PAPER In the introduction of the paper the main research question is clearly mentioned in the introduction “How effective and efficient is e-learning when integrated and routinised within a blended learning environment to improve the learning and teaching process.” Which states the purpose of the paper clearly, but it is mentioned on the second

page of the journal; it would have been more appropriate if this would have been revealed on the first page of the journal. In the introduction e-learning is clearly defined but blended learning and the blended learning environment is not defined visibly which may create problems for the person with no or little knowledge about the topic.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE TOPIC The topic selected is very vital and demonstrates the essential footstep for a successful teaching in the universities, by taking into the consideration all the three stake holders (namely: student, tutor and the institute) and spotlight the learning and the satisfaction of the student through e-learning and the blended learning techniques. This topic is indeed very important and can alter the teaching methodologies throughout the world and increase the student learning and satisfaction thus becoming a major source of student motivation. FIGURES The only thing which is presented in the journal in the most inappropriate manner is the figures and the diagrams. Text off the figures is difficult to read as it has been stretched out (weather reading from the hard or soft copy). LOGICAL ARGUMENT / THEME Defiantly the writer(s) have paid importance to the logical argument and have compiled and demonstrated the data and all the information in such a way that a theme is created in the mind of the reader which makes the learning experience more interesting and understandable even for a person with no or little information regarding the topic. PREVIOUS PUBLICATIONS There are previous publications presented in the journal with proper reference, and they are illustrated according to the theme of the paper. In my personal opinion the use of previous publications has made understanding the topic easier but there is material presented from previous

publication 49 times in the journal (which is a high number taking into the consideration that the journal is a research journal). RESEARCH METHODOLOGY The research methodology and the sample size for the journal are suitable for the purpose. There are no factors that indicate biasness and unfairness in the process of research, and true results are presented despite the fact that initial results didn’t matched the predicted results (as both the results of the assessment didn’t have significant difference). Other factors and assumptions that might have played an important role in the (assessment results of the students) result of the research are not overseen and presented in the research as change in the teachers, subjects, environment, interaction, assessment criteria (dependent upon the teacher) etc. are not taken into account while conducting the research or writing the paper. RESULTS SPORTING THE LITERATURE According to the literature only the e-learning method of teaching create problems of unmotivated students, difficulties in apprehending the contents, preparing for the exams/test, preparations of projects/assignments, feedback and interaction/communion as compared to the blended learning environment where the student under goes both the traditional and elearning method of teaching at the same time; this increases the student satisfaction, learning and motivation. But according to the research undertaken, the assessments results of students undergone only e-learning and blended education system do not have sufficient difference. The research has not proven exactly according to the literature but this has paved way for other findings. RECOMMENDATIONS Recommendations derived out of the results are not discussed in detail. CONCLUSION The concluding statements are apposite to the topic and takes into account all the stakes holders and the methods of teaching, but still if it was to be linked with the research conducted and the derived results it would have been more meaningful.

WHAT WOULD I HAVE DONE IF I WAS TO WRITE THE JOURNAL? The journal contents, theme and research are very well designed and written but if I was conducting the research I would have used the same group size of 200 but instead of letting them go through e-learning in one semester and blended learning in the second semester; I would have divided them into 2 groups of 100 each and then conduct the research in only one semester 100 students would go through e-learning and the next 100 would go under blended system from the same teachers, same institute, same contents, same syllabus, same assignments, same quizzes and same paper. Following this method would have created a bench-mark (standard) and the difference would have been more significant. mrk56 is used by Danish
