QUESTIONS - YES / NO QUESTIONS
__________________________________________________________________________________

Yes / No Questions are those questions that can be answered with long or short answers, or by
simply saying YES or NO.

USE
When we ask Yes / No Questions with the verb BE in the Simple Present or in the
Simple Past, we just place the verb BE before the subject.

Examples:

I am a student. Short Answers

Am I a student? Yes, you are.


No, you arent.

He was an actor.

Was he an actor? Yes, he was.


No, he wasnt.

In all other questions, an auxiliary verb is placed before the subject:


Examples:
Does she like music?
Yes, she does. / No, she doesnt.

Have you seen this show?


Yes, I have. / No, I havent.

Can he come to the party tonight?


Yes, he can. /No, he cant.

Are you going to buy the present today?


Yes, I am. / No, Im not.

Will they be here soon?


Yes, they will. / No, they wont.
