Where are the RPD and catalog located?

The files are located under the SDD [Singleton Data Directory] and the service instance:
for example: [DOMAIN_HOME]/service_instances/ssi/metadata (ssi is the default service instance and currently only one supported in 12.2.1)

Catalog: SDD/metadata/content
Default example: [DOMAIN_HOME]/bidata/service_instances/ssi/metadata/content/catalog

RPD (server-side): The online RPD (binary) is named liverpd.rpd. This is the "cache" binary RPD that you connect to when using the OBIEE
Administration tool in online mode. The data model itself is stored and accessed in XML. This XML file is located and named
[DOMAIN_HOME]/bidata/service_instances/[service_name]/metadata/datamodel/customizations/default/default-diff.xml
You may see "placeholder" RPD files such as liverpd.rpd_XX when you upload an RPD. The liverpd.rpd_XX will exist until converted to XML.
You upload and download the RPD via the data-model-cmd .sh|.cmd command-line API (for reference, see Doc Id 2067354.1).

RPD (client-side): When you create a new repository using admin tool, the repository can be of 2 formats: Binary or MDS XML
RPD Binary format stores repository as rpd file.
Default RPD Location : New rpd file is stored by default in repository sub-directory under C:[client install location]\bi
\bifoundation\server
MDS XML format stores repository as MDS XML Documents
For MDS XML format repositories, select|choose a root folder location for the set of MDS XML files.

Where are the common diagnostic logs located?

/.../ORACLE_HOME/user_projects/domains/bi/servers/obis1/logs/FineGrainedLogDir (on-line RPD udxml logs)
