Write Relative Minor Scales

If a major scale shares a key signature with a minor scale, then they are related scales. For example,
both D major and B minor have this key signature:

So D major is the relative major of B minor, and B minor is the relative minor of D major

To work out the relative minor of a major scale follow these steps:
1. Write the key signature of the major scale on the staff. This gives you the key
signature of the relative minor scale.

2. Find the tonic note of the major scale on a keyboard and go down three half-steps
(semitones) from this note. This gives you the tonic (starting) note of the relative
minor scale.

3. Now write in one octave of the relative minor scale ascending and descending.
Remember to add in either a raised 7th note, both ascending and descending, to make
a harmonic minor scale; or a raised 6th and 7th note ascending, and then flatten
them again descending, to make a melodic minor scale.

To raise a note - add in an sharp accidental (#) to push the note up by a half-step (semitone).
To flatten a note - add in a flat accidental (b) to push the note down by a half-step (semitone)
