Rules

for CE 231 EXAM 1


1) The quiz will begin at 9:30 AM Wednesday September 28, 2016. The duration of the
quiz will be 1 hour, 15 minutes. No extra time will be given under any circumstances.

2) The quiz will be closed book, closed notes, closed videos, closed everything ... EXCEPT:

You may use a ONE page set of handwritten notes, of your own making, front and back
(8.5 x 11 inch). Note that you do not need to include information such as a table of
densities, or unit conversion factors; such information, if needed, will be provided on the
exam. I might also mention that, in my opinion, this note sheet is not really needed, and if
you decided to skip it altogether, I would expect you to do just as well on the exam.

You may not SHARE anything with your fellow students.

Rulers and protractors may be used.

You should bring a basic calculator (i.e., a calculator with trig functions, exponentials,
etc.), according to the following Calculator Policy:

Cell phone calculators may not be used.



Laptop computers, tablet computers (e.g., iPad), or any device with internet
connectivity may not be used.

Graphing calculators are permitted.

Programmable calculators are not permitted for use in evaluating dot products, cross
products, integrals, derivatives, and solving systems of equations. In other words, all
work for these operations must be shown.

Programmable calculators may be used to check the results of your handcalculations
of dot products, cross products, integrals, derivatives, and solving systems of
equations.
