Issues That Were Discussed This Meeting

We are in Phase two of the budget meeting. This is an emergency meeting in order to approve a new
budget. Mrs. Imboden just discovered that she can apply for grants in order to fund for the additional
hours for IAs. There are two proposed budgets to analyze at this time. We can place the money towards
to supplies like in proposal two, but we will not be able to reallocate the funds. Proposal one is funding
with carry over funds or with carry over to cover for the aides. In the fall, this budget can be recalculated
to take into account of actual student counts. As a team, we agreed that it is better to have a budget that
we can makes changes if need be and to not have it in an account we cannot touch.

Motioned by Nash to go with Proposal One,Second by Coleman

DMC SPP at a Glance Review (attachment)

Some of the things that were noted:
Though the Asian population is not the highest in number, the Asian population is number one in
test scores.
We need to hit reading to help math scores increase; especially in grades 2 and 3 because there
is a lot of reading at the math level
As we analyze data, we need to note that we have to think of tests results in the way of apples
to oranges.
Not all schools take SBACS or high school proficiency
Repeal on some students including students with spec ed needs
Our first graders now are the first to be retained in third grade per Read by Three
The state will come in to do an audit for Read by 3
One of our goals is to improve the amount of teachers that are culturally trained; Mrs. Ball-Aguilar
is our Cultural and Diversity Liaison. She is to ask at one of the trainings how to help high risk
families
Nation wide standards; students moving from state to state makes it difficult to have a child go
from how the education transfers over as they move from state to state. Common Core touching
upon how to develop that thought
We looked at each division of the SPP at a glance
