Mushroom Stroganoff
Serves 4
Ingredients
1 tbsp olive oil
1 onion, nely diced
2 garlic cloves, crushed
500g/1lb 2oz mushrooms (such as
white closed cup), cleaned and sliced
1/4 tsp English mustard
1 tsp paprika
250ml/9 oz vegetable stock, made
from stock cube
200g/7oz rice
200ml/7 oz soured cream
1 lemon, cut into six wedges
salt and black pepper
Method
Heat a frying pan or wide saucepan
over a medium heat and add the oil.
Once hot, add the onion along with
a pinch of salt and cook the onion
gently for 5-7 minutes or until soft.
Add the garlic to the pan and
continue to cook for 2 minutes, then
add the sliced mushrooms. Continue
to cook gently for a 5-6 minutes, or
until the mushrooms are tender and
golden-brown.
Add the mustard and paprika and mix
well so that everything is coated.
Add the stock, stirring as you pour
it. Simmer gently for 5 minutes while
you cook the rice.
Cook the rice according to the packet
instructions in a separate saucepan
until tender.
Once the rice is cooked, remove
the mushrooms from the heat, stir
in the soured cream along with the

it all together. Taste and add salt
and pepper as needed. Serve the
stroganoff with the rice and the
remaining wedges of lemon on the
side.
Mexican Chicken Burger
Serves 1
Ingredients
1 chicken breast
1 tsp chipotle paste
1 lime, juiced
1-2 slices cheese
1 brioche bun, split
1/2 avocado
2 cherry tomatoes, chopped
3-4 pickled jalapeo slices, chopped
1/2 small garlic clove, nely grated
Method
Put the chicken breast between two
pieces of cling lm and bash with a
rolling pin or pan to about 1cm thick.
Mix the chipotle paste with half
the lime juice and spread over the
chicken. Heat a griddle pan over a
high heat. Once hot, cook the chicken
for 3 mins each side until cooked
through, adding the cheese for the
nal 2 mins of cooking. Add the bun,
cut-side down, to the griddle pan to
toast lightly. Season the chicken.
Meanwhile, mash the avocado with
the remaining lime juice. Stir in the
cherry tomatoes, jalapeo and garlic,
and season with a little salt. Spread
over the base of the bun, then add
the chicken followed by the top of
the bun.

 CLEAR THE BRAMLBES!

There is an interest in cutting a path through the brambles on the opposite side of
the meadow /picnic area at the boardwalk - the other side of the tarmac path. The
new path would just be a rough maze type allowing kids an adventurous place to
play or dog walkers an short alternative!
This little project would enable us to reveal {and release from the brambles] any
further apple, and other fruit trees in that area that may remain after it was once
the chalet eld and we can all reach next Autumns blackberries!

If you fancy helping out with your strimmer, secateurs etc. or clearing the debris
as we go, please do come on down for a few hours on Sunday Feb 19th from

MATTERS ARISING
Finance Meeting Feedback
The Clerk circulated copies of the
2016/2017 budget reconciliation which
included estimates for the remainder
of the nancial year, the minutes
from the Business Finance Meeting,
the 2017/2018 Budget Proposal and
Precept required.
Proposed Budget /Precept 2017/2018
The Clerk went over the remainder of
the budget and it was agreed to set
this years precept at 28,000. County
Cllr Peter Morgan pointed out that the
Community Council may be allocated
funds from the additional community
charges being brought in for second
homes and that the precept should
be reduced by the amount allocated.
The Clerk was asked to contact Kerry
Macdermott for further information.
Paths in Broad Haven
The Clerk sent pictures of all the paths
that have been reclaimed by nature to
Steve Benger, PCC, who said he would
look into the matter.
Footpath to Broad Haven
Primary School
PCC contacted the Clerk to advise that
they were looking into bidding for grant
funding for a footpath to the School. .
Trafc Calming
We were advised by PCC that during
the trafc monitoring in Millmoor Way
there was no evidence of speeding.
They will, however, do additional
monitoring in February. The Clerk

Forthcoming Election
Community Council Elections will be
held in four months time. The Clerk
will publicise the details when received
from the Electoral Ofcer in local
business premises, our Facebook
Page, our Webpage and notice boards.
Debrillator Training
There are three trained persons in
the area and also that the instructions
in the boxes are designed to ensure
anyone can follow them even if not
trained.
Honesty Box
The Clerk was asked to advertise in the
Diary for nominations for the Honesty
Box Funding for 2017. Submissions will
be considered at the next meeting.
Festive Lighting
Due to being let down at the last
moment this year we were unable to
put all the Motifs up as three were
broken and there was insufcient time
for repairs to be organised.
The Clerk met with Mostyn Davies,
The Ocean Proprietor, to discuss the
Festive Lighting Plans for next year
and it was agreed that Mostyn would
organise the fund raising on behalf of
the Community Council and the Clerk
would organise any purchases to be
made and the booking of the

If youve walked past the picnic area
recently you may well have noticed
the pruning work done on some of the
apple trees there. A big thanks to all
those who organised and carried out
the work, including clearing away the
debris! This pruning was necessary
to ensure the ongoing health and
fruitfulness of those trees, so look out
for bumper crops in the years to come!
Also some other trees and bushes
which were in need of maintenance
have been cut back, helping to keep
the whole area useable and healthy.
Work to Come
We are planning a work day for a bit
of tidying up as well as investigating
possible uses of the bramble-covered
area across the path above the picnic
area. Come along to help us see what
we can nd!
In February one of our annual jobs-
to-do is to clean out the bird boxes,
ready for the new season, and record
what nests we found. We hope to
involve local children in this hands-
on experience of nature. Likewise,
when March comes around we will
be arranging a planting day for wild
owers, etc. Keep on the lookout for
those event details.
Weve been asked to see whether the
view from the viewing platforms can be
improved through some thinning of the
willow trees. Well work with

Pembrokeshire Coast Triathlon
The regular Triathlon based in Broad
Haven is back this year on Saturday
24th June. Thats a mile in the sea,
27 miles on the bike, and then just
over six miles running the coast path
and lanes or you could take part by
helping the event work smoothly for
everyone taking part, while still being
able to hold a mug of coffee in your
hand!
This year, because weve been able
to provide so many marshals and car
park attendants in previous years, the
Triathlon have again awarded Support
The Boardwalk the chance to volunteer
for the day and raise money through
the car parking and other activities for
this community asset.
If you fancy volunteering on the day,
its good fun being part of the team and
you usually get a goody-bag from the
Triathlon too!

 THE HAVENS COMMUNITY ALLOTMENTS AND GARDENS
While clearing the old allotment site
and thinking back over the past ve
years, conscious of plots that had
been taken on and abandoned as well
as those that had been successfully
cultivated; the question that came to
mind as I mused over the area was
What makes a good gardener?
In response I came across the
following quote that may give a clue
Gardeners often have a kind heart
for birds, animals, and small children
in addition to their love of plants.
Gardeners by nature seem to be
nurturers and caring people. Accepting
the responsibility of caring for plants
(animals and birds) makes us nurturers
at heart. How can we help not being
this way?
Surely that is not all we need to be
good gardeners? So what about -
A good old-fashioned dose of
patience.
A strong determination to see a
project through to the end or at least
until the plant owers.
Gardeners often have stamina.
Stamina is different to determination.
Determination and perseverance
requires will-power and drive. Stamina
takes both of this plus physical
endurance.
A gardener with a sense of purpose is
one with a vision. Having a vision and
being able to picture the anticipated
end result is a valuable quality that
will eliminate lots of unnecessary
frustration.
Being creative is the fun part of
creating the vision.

dedicated group given the unforgiving
nature of their charges.
Given the unpredictability of the
weather, gardeners had better have a
good sense of humour.
Being forgiving goes along with
having a sense of humour.
Gardeners always have intimate
knowledge of everyones favourite
subject the weather.
Gardeners are also very willing
to share their plants with others.
Gardeners are a generous lot.
Lastly, gardeners have a love for
plants, owers and nature that gives
them an appreciation for the ner
things in life.
So if you feel that you have what

BROAD AND LITTLE HAVEN WI
We were delighted to have so many guests at our
January meeting held at Broad Haven Village Hall.
Our speaker for the evening was Simon Hancock. We
all enjoyed an informative talk about The History of
Haverfordwest with 30 artefacts.
Simon is curator of Haverfordwest town museum
and we will denitely be having a trip in April when it opens. Joan gave
the vote of thanks, and tea and cake were served by Linda and Marion.
Resolutions were discussed, and members were asked to bring
any spare toiletries to the next meeting which will be donated
to the Womens Refuge in Haverfordwest. We would also be
grateful for any ideas for our 70th birthday which is this year.
Our next meeting is on February 14th at Broad haven Village Hall 7pm.
Our guest is Sue Kendall who will be giving us a Willow Basket
demonstration. Competition - Hearts made from wood or willow.

Recipes
Goats Cheese Frittata
Preparation time - less than 30 mins
Cooking time - less than 10 mins
Serves 2
Ingredients 4 free-range eggs 1
tbsp fresh thyme few basil leaves
50g/1oz butter, plus extra for frying
100g/3oz spinach (a large handful)
150g/5oz goats cheese, sliced 1
tsp chopped rosemary
Method
Whisk the eggs in a bowl and season
well. Tear the thyme and basil leaves
and add to the egg.
Melt the butter in a non-stick pan.
Add the spinach and cook for about
one minute until the leaves soften.
Add the spinach to the bowl with the
eggs.
Place a thin slice of butter in the
pan. When it starts to sizzle add the
eggs. Add the sliced goats cheese
and rosemary and cook on a low to
moderate heat. Preheat the grill on
a high setting. After six minutes of
frying, nish under the grill until
golden on top and serve.
Thai Fried Prawn & Pineapple Rice
Preparation time: 10 MINS Cooking
Time: 15 MINS Serves 4
Ingredients: 2 tsp sunower oil
bunch spring onions, greens and

green pepper, deseeded and chopped
into small chunks 140g pineapple,
chopped into bite-sized chunks 3
tbsp Thai green curry paste 4 tsp
light soy sauce, plus extra to serve
300g cooked basmati rice (brown,
white or a mix - about 140g uncooked
rice) 2 large eggs, beaten 140g
frozen peas 225g can bamboo
shoots, drained 250g frozen prawns,
cooked or raw 2-3 limes, 1 juiced,
the rest cut into wedges to serve
handful coriander leaves (optional)
Method
Heat the oil in a wok or non-stick
frying pan and fry the spring onion
whites for 2 mins until softened. Stir
in the pepper for 1 min, followed by
the pineapple for 1 min more, then
stir in the green curry paste and soy
sauce.
Add the rice, stir-frying until piping
hot, then push the rice to one side
of the pan and scramble the eggs on
the other side. Stir the peas, bamboo
shoots and prawns into the rice and
eggs, then heat through for 2 mins
until the prawns are hot and the
peas tender. Finally, stir in the spring
onion greens, lime juice and coriander,
if using. Spoon into bowls and serve
with extra lime wedges and soy sauce.
