To Whom it May Concern:
I discovered the ad on the Student Employment Board requesting a library aide for the
circulation services, and it stood out to me as a wonderful opportunity for employment. I
am an English major, and have always considered a career as a librarian. One of the
places I spent the most time during my childhood was at my local library. I would spend
hours there, reading and picking out stacks of books to take home. From a young age,
the prospect of working at a library was something that always appealed to me. As a
college student, I use the library’s resources for research and study often, which has
allowed me to become familiar with the resources the library offers.

Last semester I had the pleasure to work as a peer facilitator. I taught a two credit course
to first semester freshmen at BYU-Idaho. This volunteer experience helped me to fine
tune the natural public relations and speaking skills I already possess. It was also an
opportunity for me to teach new students about campus resources, especially the library.
By balancing a full course load with a 3.3 GPA, working fifteen hours a week and
volunteering at least eight hours a week, I have successfully learned to multitask.

I know that my skills in the area of speaking, multitasking, my passion for working at a
library, and this position’s usefulness to my future career, make me a good candidate for
the position of a library aide. I have enclosed a copy of my resume. I look forward to
hearing from the McKay Library soon!
