JOB DESCRIPTION

Department: Sport St Marys

Job Title: Summer Holiday Camp Coach

Responsible to: Sports Volunteering & Community Outreach Officer,


Summer Camp Head Coaches

Salary: Weekly (5-day) rate of 393

Working Hours: 7:30am 4pm

Camp Dates: 24th July 28th July


31st July 4th August
7th August 11th August
14th August 18th August
21st August 25th August
29th August 1st September

Coaches may be offered roles for between 2 and 6


weeks. Please note that you must be available for a
minimum of 2 full weeks in order to be eligible for the role.

Closing Date: Wednesday 26th April

Interview Dates: TBC, likely to be during the week commencing 8th May

Background:

SIMMSport is a fun, high quality sports programme that delivers weekly coaching
sessions and holiday camps for boys and girls aged 5 to 12 years using Sport St.
Marys facilities.

Over the last couple of years our multi-sport holiday camps have grown dramatically
and we are now one of the leading providers of camps in the region. We are looking
to recruit talented, energetic and enthusiastic coaches to plan and deliver our camps.

Main Duties

1. To be an ambassador for SIMMSport Holiday Camps, positively promoting the


programme and encouraging participation
2. Plan and enthusiastically deliver suitable activities that fit into the Head Coaches
overall Summer Camp plan of activities
3. Lead activities to groups of children aged 5-12
4. Responsible for the safety of all participants including ensuring the safe use of
equipment
5. To set up all equipment and activity areas
6. Ensure the facilities are treated with care and left tidy at the end of each day.
7. To be a positive role model
8. Communicate effectively with the camp Head Coaches and Sports Volunteering
& Community Outreach Officer, informing them of any problems, concerns,
accidents and incidents relating to any aspect of the holiday camp.
9. Maintain good relationships with parents, exceeding their expectations by
ensuring excellent customer service is delivered.
10. Attend training and supervision sessions as and when required.

11. Carry out administrative duties as necessary, for example taking registers or
recording any accidents and injuries

12. To undertake any other duties that the Sports Volunteering & Community
Outreach Officer deems appropriate

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Qualifications
Educated to A-Level standard or above
Level 1 NGB/UKCC and above coaching qualification(s)
Coaching/Sport leader qualification
Valid First Aid Certificate
Safeguarding Children
DBS dated within 3 years

Experience, Skills and Training


Summer camp coaching experience
Experience of organising and promoting events/activities
Studying towards or already completed a degree in
primary/secondary teaching, sports coaching or PE
qualification
Experience of volunteering/working in a sports environment
Excellent communication skills
Excellent organisational skills
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to deal
effectively with a wide range of people
Self-motivated and able to work independently
Leadership and teaching skills
