Fellow of SMK Kota Masai came up with problem
statement to adress the issues related to English
learning in this school last week. Hence, we gathere
again to discuss about the root cause of the problem
our vision and the objectives for our project.

First, we identified the root cause of our main

problem. English has always been a critical subject i
our school and SMK Kota Masai 2i a top 10 school in
Pasir Gudang with the highest number of students.
Therefore, the 21 st century learning environment
only available to high performing students where th
rest of students need to experience unconducive
learning environment.

Then,we listed out personal vision for our students

where three of us decided to focus on providing a 21
st century learning environment for students after
school.

After that, we created a problem statement that

enlisted our vision and expectations

English is a critical subject in SMK Kota Masai 2 du

to limited 21 st Century learning facilities and
unconducive learning environment
 Therefore, we decided to transform a normal
classroom to 21 st century learning classroom and w
need to arrange a meeting with the principal to get
his approval. The name of the project will be EFC
( English Fun Centre) where it will be equipped with
pre installed techonology and modern furniture to
increase students motivation.

Before that, three of us need to work hard on the

proposal and drafting a plan floor for the classroom.

Reflection : We struggled to find the common proble

statement that links all of our personal visions for th
students. We need to improve our communication
skills in order to improve the quality of discussion.

Today, we decided to assign role for everyone in ord
to smoothen the process of writing the proposal.Eac
fellow were assigned to different task. I were
responsible to draft a budget for the project while
Zaman was responsible to draft a floor pan for the
project and Aisyah was responsible to come up with
solid problem statement, vision and sustainability
plan.

Therefore, Zaman and I worked together to draft a

floor plan. First of all, we discussed about the conce
we wanted for the classroom. We researched about
the concept online and decided to go with modern
contemprary classroom.

Then, we listed the furnitures and materials needed

to transform the classroom into EFC.

Reflection : We spent three hours to complete the

floor plan because we did not do our research before
we have a meeting. In the future, we need to be we
prepared in order to ease the process.

After designing the layout and floor plan, I listed the

budget for the project. I referred to the floor plan dre
by Zaman and I found the current cost of each
material/furniture through online. I needed to adjust
the quantities of the material according to the
classroom size and number of students.

The total budget for the EFC is 64,000 because we

decided to include mini stage, detachable tables and
pre-installed technology in our classroom. Therefore
the fellows need to sit down again to discuss about
how we are going to find the fund for this project.

Reflection : Drafting the budget can be quite tedious

because I need to make sure we dont overestimate
underestimate the budget. So a thorough research
needed to be done in order to come up with cost
effective budget.
