Sir,
In continuation of this office letter no. X-II/14/1/2008-P&D dated
27/08/2010, I to forward herewith a copy of Gazette Notification no. 501 dated
March, 2011 published in Extraordinary PART-II-Section 3-Sub-section (tt) issued by
the Central Govt.
(2) Vide above notification the Central Govt. has extended the provisions of
Act to certain specified establishments as mentioned in said notification. The
provisions of above notification are applicable w.e.f. 1st April, 2011. Necessary action
may kindly be taken to ensure that the compliance of the notification is made
immediately under intimation to Director (Revenue), Hqrs. Office.

S.O. 616(E).-Whe.reas. by a notification of the Government ofIndia in the Ministry of Labour and Employment,
published in the G~ofJndia, Extraordinary, Part 11, Section 3, Sub-section (ii), vide number S.O. I 48(E), dated the
29th November, 20 lA, *cCemraI GcM::mment, in consultation with the Employees' State Insurance Corporation, gave
notice of its intention teexlcDd the provisions of the Employees' State Insurance Act, 1948 (34 of 1948) to certain classes

2010;
And whereas ., objections andsuggcstions have been received within the said period of one month in respect
of the said notification;
Now, therefore. in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (5) of Section 1 of the Employees' State
. Insurance Act, 1948 (34 of 1948), the Central Government, in consultation with the Employees' State Insurance Corporation,
hereby extends witbc~ from the 1st day of April, 2011, the provisions of the said Act to the classes of establishments
specified in column (l) and situated within the areas specified in column (2) of the Schedule annexed hereto, namely :-

The following establishments wherein ten or more persons are All areas in the National Capital Territory of
employed, or were employed, on any day of the preceding Delhi where provisions of the Employees'
twelve months, namely :- State Insurance Act, 1948 have already been
(0 shops; brought into force under sub-section (3) of
(ii) hotels; Section 1 of the Act.
(lit) restaurants;
(iv) road motor transport establishments;
(v) cinemas including preview theatres;
(vi) newspaper establishments as defined in clause (d) .
of Section 2 of the Working Journalists and Other
Newspaper Employees (Conditions of Service) and
Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1955 (45 of 1955);
(viI) educational institutions (including public, private,
. aided or partially aided) run by an individual, trust,
society or other organisation;
(viii) medical institutions (including corporate, joint sector,
trust, charitable and private ownership hospitals, nursing
homes, diagnostic centres, pathological labs).
