Know all men by these presents that we Calvin C Parks and Harriet Parks wife of said Calvin C Parks of
Auburn in the County of Oakland in the Territory of Michigan for and in consideration of the sum of five
thousand dollars paid to our full satisfaction by Salmon J Matthews of the same [County?] the receipt
whereof is hereby acknowledged do hereby give grant bargain & sell unto him the said Salmon J
Matthews & to his heirs and assigns forever the following described piece or parcel of Land lying & being
in the County aforesaid viz: the west half of the North west quarter of Section thirty four (34) in
Township (2) North of Range Eleven (11) East in the Detroit Land District containing Eighty acres
more or less together with all and singular the privileges and appurtenances to the premises in any wise
belonging To have & To hold the premises unto him the said Salmon J Matthews his heirs and assigns
forever

The condition of the above deed is such that whereas I the said Calvin C Parks and the said Salmon J
Matthews have this day entered into a written agreement in which I the said Calvin C Parks have agreed
to and with said Salmon J Matthews that within the time of one year from the month of October 1831 I will
pay up all debts which we the said Parks & Matthews owe as parties in Merchandise of whatever nature
they might be & that I the said Calvin C. Parks will indemnify & save harm less the said Matthews from all
payments costs expense damage and trouble he may sustain in consequence of any legal measures that
may be taken from this time to enforce collections on any on any [sic] of said debts now if I the said
Calvin C. Parks do well and faithfully keep and perform my said agreement then the above deed to be
void—but in case of nonperformance in whole or in part of my the said Calvin C Parks said written
agreement then and in such case we hereby authorize & empower the said Matthews to [make sale?] of
the premises at publick [sic] auction to the highest bidder and on said sale to make out execute & deliver
to the purchaser or purchasers a good & sufficient of the premises in fee and of the monies arising on
said sale to retain sufficient to pay and indemnify the said Matthews for all payments he may have been
compelled to make on said Partnership debts together with all costs & damages expense & trouble he
may have sustained or been put to in conveyance of the nonperformance aforesaid—In testimony of
which we have hereto set our hands & seals the 19th day of January 1832

Territory of Michigan } ss. Be it remembered that on the twenty second day of February A.D. One
County of Oakland } thousand Eight Hundred thirty Two Personally came before me the
undersigned a Justice of the Peace in & for the County aforesaid Calvin C. Parks known to be the person
who executed the within Deed and acknowledged that he executed the same for the purposes herein
contained
