We are really excited to be able to help more students perfect their

speeches this semester, Julia Balzer, a communication consultant, said.

The Oral Communication Center is a resource for undergraduate and

graduate students to meet with peer consultants and gain knowledge on

public speaking. Consultants are trained to help prepare and outline

Most commonly, clients come to the Oral Communication Center

during the last stages of their speech preparation to get feedback on their

final speech. Consultants give feedback on elements such as eye contact,

vocal variety and body language.

In addition to peer consulting, the Oral Communication Center also

provides workshops varying in topic. Workshops for this semester might

include tips for speaking

anxiety or public speaking in the scientific profession.

If interested in public speaking, contact the center by emailing or visiting Skinner 2117.
