This indenture made the thirteenth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight
hundred and thirty two between Calvin C Parks of the village of Auburn County of Oakland & Territory
of Michigan of the first part and John J Allen of Sandwich [n.k.a. Windsor] in Upper Canada of the
second part witnesseth that the said party of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of Two
Hundred dollars to him in hand paid by the said party of the second part the receipt whereof is hereby
confessed and acknowledged have granted bargained sold remised released aliened and confirmed and
by these presents do grant bargain sell remise release alien and confirm unto the said party of the second
part and to his heirs and assigns forever All that certain piece or parcel of Land situate lying & being in
the village of Auburn in the County of Oakland & Territory of Michigan being a part of the west half of the
North West quarter of Section thirty six Township three North of Range 10 East as follows
Beginning at a post standing on the South boundary of Main Street (so called) in said village of
Auburn Ninety Links South thirty three degrees forty minutes West of a post standing on the
North boundary of said quarter Section and also in the center of the Street running South thence
South on the West boundary of said Street Two chains & nineteen links to a post thence West five
chains and fifty links to a post standing on the East boundary of the Mill Pond Thence North
Seventeen degrees East along the boundary of said Mill Pond Two chains & Twenty Eight Links
to a post on the South boundary of the first mentioned Street Thence East along said boundary
line four chains and fifty Links to the place of beginning containing one acre and nine Rods of
Land be the same more or less

To have and To hold the above bargained premises to the said party of the second part his heirs and
assigns to the sole and only proper use benefit and behoof of the said party of the second part his heirs
and assigns forever Provided Always and These presents are upon this [express?] condition that if the
said sum of Two hundred dollars together with the Lawful Interest wherein shall be paid to the said John J
Allen on or before the first day of January next according to the condition of a certain promissory note
bearing even date herewith Executed by the said party of the first part to the party of the second part as a
collateral security then these presents and the said promissory note shall cease and be null and void But
in case of nonpayment of the said sum of Two hundred dollars together with the Interest due therein or
any part thereof at the time above limited for the payment thereof then and in such case it shall and may
be Lawful for the said party of the second part his heirs executors administrators or assigns and the said
party of the first part doth hereby empower and authorize the said party of the second part his heirs
executors administrators or assigns to grant bargain sell release and convey the premises with the
appurtenances at public auction or vendue and on such sale to make and execute to the purchaser or
purchasers his or their heirs and assigns forever good ample and sufficient deed or deeds of conveyance
in the Law agreeable to the Statute in such case made and provided rendering the surplus monies (if any
there should be) to the said party of the first part his heirs executors administrators after deducting the
costs and charges of such vendue and sale aforesaid In witness whereof the party of the first part hath
hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year first above written

Michigan Territory } Personally appeared Calvin C. Parks the signer of this indenture and before
County of Oakland } me acknowledged that he executed the same freely and voluntarily for the
purposes therein mentioned Given under my hand at the City of Detroit this 13th day of March A.D. 1832
