How the Schlieffen Plan failed


1. Russia mobilized faster than Germany had considered.
2. Belgium put up a fight which slowed Germans to France.
3. German tanks had trouble getting through the forest.
4. Germany was forced to move troops to the eastern front to fight Russia which was
not part of their plan.
The Schlieffen Plan
1. Germany would go through Belgium thinking they would shut their mouths and
watch.
2. Fight France through Belgium so that their borders wont get affected.
3. Thought that Russia would take a while before they got into the war.
4. There plan was to be finished with France and go to Russia but Russia mobilized
faster than expected and Germany was forced to send troops to eastern front to
fight Russia.
5. Instead of fighting a two front war they fought a to side war and lost.
6. The Schlieffen Plan was logical but wasnt thought through very well and failed.
Why Britain Joined the War
Germany thought they could just invade Belgium and attack France while
Belgium kept their mouths but Britain did not like this thought from Germany
and that is what forced Britain into the war.
