DNEVNI PREGLED
SA^UVANA OPERATIVNA SPOSOBNOST RV I PVO
VOJSKE JUGOSLAVIJE
sada nevi|enom spremno{}u naroda i wegove vojske. Po re~ima
general-pukovnika Spasoja Smiqani}a, komandanta Ratnog vaz-
dostojanstveno prihvatili borbu protiv vi{estruko ja~eg nepri-
jateqa.

qudi, wihove prirodne ratni~ke, rekao bih, i genetske obdarenos-
sposobnost u svim elementima i funkcijama sistema.
NATO

DAILY REVIEW
THE YA AIR DEFENSE OPERATIVE CAPABILITY
PRESERVED
The Yugoslav people and the Army opposed the aggression on
FR Yugoslavia with an unprecedented readiness. According to
lieutenant general Spasoje Smiljanic, the Air Force and Air
Defense commander, in the first 73 days of the aggression NATO
air force made about 20.000 sorties (15.000 with fighter planes).
Around 1.000 cruise missiles were launched at Yugoslavia, and
Yugoslav Air Defence facilities were raided for 485 times at 162
locations.
General Smiljanic pointed out that our army successfully ful-
filled all assignments, confronting the most powerful force in the
history of mankind. The Yugoslav Air Force and Air Defence units
have honorably, bravely and with dignity accepted the battle
against a significantly stronger enemy. Our pilots' assaults and per-
sistence and perseverance of our missiles will remain the role
model for the generations to come. NATO military strategists have
repeatedly expressed their admiration for the combat readiness of
our air defence. Its flexibility, resistance, movableness, adaptability
and other characteristics that enabled it to survive for such a long
time and so efficiently reflect the capability of our men, their natural
warrior, and I would say, inherent talent, said general Smiljanic.
NATO planed to destroy the Yugoslav Air Defence in just three
days. The fact that Yugoslav Air Defence is still operative in all ele-
ments and functions of the system proves that their estimations
were unrealistic and their plans completely wrong. 21.000 tons of bombs fell on our country in 75 days. NATO used
