The Big News: Sunday, April 15.
The Libertarian Party of New Hampshire staged its 2008 Nominating Convention to choose candidates for the November 2008 general election. They want to start petitioning now, so they did not wait for the LP National Convention to choose their 2008 nominees They chose: For President...George Phillies For Vice President...Karen Kwiatkowski That's right, the Libertarian Party of New Hampshire has decided to run George Phillies for President in 2008. The LPNH must collect 3000 signatures to put him on the November ballot. His running mate will be Karen Kwiatkowski (LTC, USAF, retired), prominent antiwar activist and writer for LewRockwell.com. Phillies said of this: "The Presidential nomination is the highest honor a political party can bestow on one of its long-time activists. I am profoundly honored to receive the trust of the New Hampshire Libertarian Party. I will do my utmost to make sure that New Hampshire Libertarians can be proud of their candidate." Other news: The same weekend, George Phillies went to Farmington, New Mexico and the LPNM State Convention. The LPNM staged a Presidential debate, lasting 2 1/2 hours, between candidates in attendance: George Phillies. Christine Smith. Daniel Imperato. George reports, post-debate, that delegate response was extremely positive. Many prominent party members thought he had clearly won. Particularly well received were his long record of party activism and his plans for running on issues that Americans really care about: Iraq. Civil Liberties. The National Debt. A record of the debate may become available nationally. Phillies 2008 has announced a new fund-raising offer, 1-for-2 matching funds.
