Professional Growth Plan

First Year Goals

In my first year of teaching, I would like to learn from veteran teachers (in any content) every
chance that I get. With that, I hope to remain open to criticism and practice frequent self-
reflection on my practices as a new teacher. I want to implement a consistent comprehensive
classroom management plan, and create a classroom atmosphere that is safe, secure, and
respectful. I will strive to design lessons aligned to NGSS that create a sense of novelty and
exploration for my students. In my spare time, I think it is important that I have an active
presence in school activities and sporting events, and in doing so, will inspire a sense of school
spirit and pride in my students. Lastly, I hope to construct strong relationships with my fellow
teachers, administration, and any other faculty.

Long-Term Goals (5 Year Plan)

Within my first five years of teaching, I plan to obtain my Masters and my National Board
Certification. With these, Id also like to incorporate adult education, possibly at ASUs Mary
Lou Fulton Teachers College. In the secondary setting, I will continue to learn from my
colleagues and keep up with scientific current events to keep my lessons as up to date and
relevant as possible. I hope to have created an organized, resourceful, and adaptable curriculum,
as well as developed my skills enough to be considered for a position as my department chair.
