Middle Eastern Culture &
Cooking Event
All OIS and SIS parents are invited to attend on Friday
April 14 from 4:00 - 6:00 PM in the Home & Family Life
room. Learn how to cook Saudi Arabian and Egyptian
dishes and then eat a delicious meal. Please let us know
if you need babysitting and we will see if we can arrange
it. Space is limited to 20 people, so please RSVP SOIS
administrative assistant Chiaki Aotani
(caotani@senri.ed.jp).
Elementary School Updates
Spring trimester after school activities begin next week and
run until the end of the week of June 5-9, 2017.
Registration information was sent home this week.
The students are also making preparations for SOIS Earth
Week, April 17-21, 2017.

Shakespeare is Coming to
SOIS
The International Theatre Company of London
will be performing Shakespeares 12th Night in
the SOIS theatre on Tuesday May 16 at 6:00
PM. They are offering an acting workshop to our
students at 4:00 PM on the day of the
performance. Students, faculty and parents are
invited to attend the performance. Cost for
students is 500 Yen and adults 1,500 Yen. More

World Scholars Cup

We are hosting the Kansai Round for the third consecutive
year April 29-30. For more information, please visit the

We are looking for volunteers to serve as debate judges . If

you are interested, please contact OIS grade 1 teacher
Dawn Inada (dinada@senri.ed.jp). Depending on WSC
management, it may be reduced to one day, Saturday April
29. We will find out approximately 1 week before the
competition.

Top performing students will qualify for the Global Round to

be held in Hanoi, Vietnam, June 26 - July 1.

Visual Arts Exhibition

The grade 12 students will be opening their
Diploma Programme Visual Arts exhibition on
Monday April 10 at 6:00 PM. The community is
invited to attend and also to view the artworks for
the next two weeks. They will be displayed on the
second and third floors near the gengkan. The
exhibition is the culmination of their studies in the
arts. Congratulations to the students! Thanks to
their teacher, Mr. Myers and the rest of the visual
arts faculty for their support of the students.
