General Safety Information

WARNING: Ensure that the unit is disconnected from the mains supply
prior to assembling/disassembling any part of the machine.
When using the wet and dry vacuum cleaner, basic safety precautions
should always be observed, including the following:
Do not pull, lift or carry by the cord. Do not close a door on the cord

or pull the cord around sharp edges or corners. Keep the cord away
from heated surfaces.
2. The base of the machine should be positioned flat on the floor when
starting and during use, to prevent dirty water running into motor,
do not use the machine upside-down or on its side.
3. This appliance is not intended for use by children or by persons with
reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, unless they have
been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance
by a person responsible for their safety.
4. The machine should only be used by personnel who have received
appropriate training.
5. Use only as described in this manual.
6. Use only the manufacturers recommended accessories.
7. Dont use the machine with incorrect voltage as this may result
in damage or injury to the user. The correct voltage is listed
on the ratings label.
8. Regularly examine the cord for damage, such as cracking or ageing.
If damage is found replace the cord with a genuine Vax part before

9. Do not use the vacuum cleaner if it has been dropped, damaged,
left outdoors, or dropped into water. Please contact our Commercial

10. Do not handle the plug or vacuum cleaner with wet hands.
11. For best performance, ensure airways remain clear of blockages
during use.
12. Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers and all parts of the body away
from openings and moving parts.
13. Do not pick up hot, smoking, burning, flammable, hazardous
or combustible materials or use in the presence of explosive liquids
or vapours.
14. Do not vacuum up harmful or toxic material (chlorine, bleach, ammonia,
drain cleaner, etc).
15. Do not vacuum up hard or sharp objects such as glass, nails, screws,
coins, etc.
16. Before storing your machine all water tanks and filters must
be thoroughly clean and dry. Store the machine in a cool, dry area.
17. Always replace the fuse in the plug with a British 13amp fuse.
18. Always make sure the correct wet or dry filters/bags are in place.
19. Use only as described in this manual.

! CAUTION:
! Before plugging the cord in make sure the machine
is switched off. Hold the vacuum cleaner firmly when plugging
! in !and turning on.
! IMPORTANT:
! The motor is equipped with a thermal cut-out.
If for any reason, the vacuum cleaner should over-heat;
the thermostat will automatically turn the unit off. Should this
occur, unplug the vacuum cleaner, clean the filters and allow
the cleaner to cool for approximately one hour. To re-start,
plug in the machine and switch on.

IMPORTANT: We recommend that the machine is used only when set up correctly. Dry vacuuming

Remove
The vacuum cleaner is fitted with a float. When the dirty water tank is full, the float will shut off the
suction to the machine. You will be able to hear if this has happened as the motor noise will increase.
Once the float is activated, switch off the machine and empty the dirty water tank. If the dirty water tank
is not full, then turn off the machine at the power switch and wait for the float to settle.

FAQs

Why will the vacuum cleaner not run?


It may not be plugged into the electrical outlet correctly. Ensure that the plug is pushed into the electrical
outlet fully.
The electrical socket may not be working. If unsure consult an electrician.
The motor thermostat may have tripped. Switch off and unplug the vacuum cleaner. Leave for one hour before
switching the vacuum cleaner back on.
The machine is at wet capacity and the float valve has caused the power down. Switch off and unplug the
vacuum cleaner. Disconnect all hoses and take to drain or sink to empty. Reconnect machine and all hoses.
Leave for one hour before switching the vacuum cleaner back on.
Check the fuse in the plug if this needs replacing, always replace with a British 13amp fuse.

Why wont the vacuum cleaner pick up?


In dry mode, the dust bag may be full or incorrectly installed. Remove the dust bag from the unit and if not full,
re-attach as shown in Operation Dry pickup (page 6).
Incorrect filters assembled for wet or dry function. Ensure the correct filter are fitted.
In wet mode, the water tank may be full. Switch off and unplug the vacuum cleaner. Disconnect all hoses
and take to drain or sink to empty.
The filter may be clogged, causing the machine to overheat. Clean the filter.
The filter may not be fitted correctly. Ensure the filters are fitted correctly.
There may be a blockage in the tube or the hose. Disconnect the hose from the vacuum cleaner,
carefully remove any blockages found and reconnect securely.
The motor unit may not be correctly aligned to the collection bin. Unclip, realign and reattach.
The bleed valve on the handle may be open. Close the bleed valve.

Why is dust escaping from the vacuum?


The filter may be clogged. Cleaning the filter.
The dust bag may be full. Remove the bag and if full, fit a new bag.
Dust bag may be incorrectly installed. Remove the dust bag from the unit and re-attach.
The hose may not be installed correctly. Remove the hose and refit.
