WHY CITY SLEEP SAFE?
MISSION STATEMENT

To bundle up the chronically homeless
and rough sleepers, along with their
addictions and health challenges,
take them back to our place
and love them back into life.
NO ONE
SHOULD
SETTLE
FOR THIS
THE PROBLEM

There are 2 groups of homeless people:
1. Those who can access support and solve their
homelessness situation themselves
2. Those unable to access help
THE PROBLEM
Those people unable to access help include:
• People with addictions
• People with mental illness
• People with brain injury
• People leaving gaol
• People who have experienced violence
(domestic or otherwise)
• Other issues
WITHIN THIS GROUP THERE ARE:
- THOSE WHO ARE NOT READY
- THOSE WHO ARE READY TO REACH
FOR A NEW LIFE
CITY SLEEP SAFE HAS IN ITS
SIGHTS THE GROUP OF PEOPLE WHO
ARE NOT ABLE TO ACCESS HELP AND
ARE READY TO MAKE A CHANGE.
DUAL COMMITMENT

Our program will help the people that choose to escape
homelessness. In return, we ask two things:
• An agreement to have a proportion of their benefits
garnished to cover the cost of accommodation and food –
ensures buy-in and ultimately financial sustainability
• An agreement to abide by a drug and alcohol free
environment – creates an appropriate environment for change

THE MODEL
City Sleep Safe Centre
We provide the basic necessities, accommodation, food and support
for 3 month period. At the same time, we reduce disposable income
and encourage saving in an effort to tackle any addiction and provide the means to
start a new life. Their time will be occupied through a structural program which will
include support service activities, work experience and domestic duties.
Support Accommodation
After 3 months we will assist in the transition from City Sleep Safe Centre into
single dwelling accommodation for up to 12 months. City Sleep Safe will take the
head lease on these dwellings and clients will agree to have the rental direct debited
from their benefits and/or wages. Although clients will live semi-independent lives
they will be required to commit to their support service activities and remain drug and
alcohol free to stay in the program.
