PTP 820 NMS

System Requirement
System Release 15A00
System Requirement System Release 15A00

1 INTRODUCTION
In general, there are a number of factors affecting the requirements for a
management system:
The number of managed network elements and radio channels.
The amount of information and number of alarms/events generated by the
elements.
The quantity and frequency of performance measurement data collected from
the elements.
Whether the PTP 820 NMS Client, PTP 820 NMS Server, and Database
Server are co-located on the same computer or installed on separate
computers.
The number of concurrent clients running.
Operator usage and system utilization.
Load or interference from other applications on the same computers.
Load or interference from other traffic in the DCN.
Because these factors can vary significantly between different networks, strict
requirements with absolute limits cannot be given for all aspects of the management
system.
The PTP 820 NMS management system is specified in terms of System
Requirements for the software part, and a set of server and client System
Recommendations for the hardware part.

4 SYSTEM RECOMMENDATION
This section specifies recommended set-up of computers for running PTP 820 NMS
and the corresponding database in various network scenarios. Benchmarking tests
have verified that typical systems are able to operate satisfactory if these
recommendations are followed.
The indicated limits are not absolute. Some instances of PTP 820 NMS systems may
operate very well even on less powerful computers, and, more importantly, we do
not guarantee that all systems will work based only on the recommended scaling of
server hardware, software, OS and networking capacity. In most cases, system
performance can be improved by increasing processor capacity, available memory,
and/or DCN interface capacity.
Certain combinations of features, NE types/quantities, or other factors may affect
the required system set-up, as mentioned in section 1 Introduction on page 2. To the
extent possible, known limitations and other factors related to system scalability and
capacity are provided in the Release Notes for each PTP 820 NMS release.

) Solid State Disk (SSD) is recommended on the database server. It is recommended to use 2 disks. The data
files/tablespaces should be on one of the disks and the redo log-files on the other disk. If the database resides
on a separate server, the disk on the PTP 820 NMS Server does not need to be of SSD type.
6
) For increased system throughput, installation of the database on a separate server may be considered, see
Table 3 for suggested configuration.
7
) Recommended maximum number of radio channels with enabled (active) 15 minutes performance
measurements.
