The Permanent Missions of Argentina, Barbados, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa
Rica, Honduras, Jamaica, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, United States, Uruguay,
present their compliment to the Chair of the Permanent Council of the Organization of American
States and request the convening of an urgent special meeting of the Permanent Council on
Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. to consider a Draft Resolution on the convening of a
Meeting of Consultation of Ministers of Foreign Affairs to consider the situation in the Bolivarian
Republic of Venezuela.

Attached is Draft Resolution. We appreciate its translation and circulation among Member
States as soon as possible.

The Permanent Missions of Argentina, Barbados, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa
Rica, Honduras, Jamaica, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, United States, Uruguay take
this opportunity to renew to the Chair of the Permanent Council the assurances of its highest
consideration.

DRAFT RESOLUTION CONCERNING A MEETING OF CONSULTATION OF
MINISTERS OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS TO CONSIDER THE SITUATION IN THE
BOLIVARIAN REPUBLIC OF VENEZUELA

THE PERMANENT COUNCIL OF THE ORGANIZATION OF AMERICAN STATES,

CONSIDERING the deepening concern of the OAS Member States regarding the situation in
that country;

TAKING INTO ACCOUNT the provisions of Article 61 of the Charter of the Organization of
American States on the possibility of convening a Meeting of Consultation of Ministers of Foreign
Affairs to consider problems of an urgent nature and of common interest;

RESOLVES

1. To convene a Meeting of Consultation of Ministers of Foreign Affairs at (the


headquarters of the Organization of American States or in the city of) for the day (date) at (time) in
order to consider the topic Situation in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
