ABSTRACT

Maternal mortality due to preeclampsia in Indonesia is quite high at between 9.8
percent to 25 percent in 2011. When women experience anxiety, the possibility
that the baby could be born premature, underweight, or swelling due to excess
sodium (preeklampsi). Anxious mothers during pregnancy can increase the
hormone adrenalin, thus potentially having preeclampsia. The purpose of this
study to describe the incidence of preeclampsia based on maternal anxiety levels
primigravida. The research methodology is quantitative descriptive, cross-
sectional approach. The selection of the sample 31 samples in this study using
non randem the quota sampling technique with an approach that is 31 people.
The result showed that of the 14 respondents who had severe anxiety level of the
majority (71.4%) had preeclampsia, of the 16 respondents who have high levels
of anxiety were almost all respondents (87.5%) did not experience preeklampsi,
and from 1 respondents have mild anxiety level entirely (100%) did not
experience preeklampsi. Suggested to health workers to increase empathy for
pregnant women, for example providing an explanation and more information
about preeclampsia, pregnancy and childbirth to reduce maternal anxiety.
