water to live?” Tell the child that all people need to drink

Water is all around us. It moves through the air and ground
over and over again. Ask the child to look at the colorful
picture. There are six water droplets in the picture. Ask the
child to find all of them. Then count them together.

Helpers, here’s what to do:

Sometimes we see things that don't belong in our rivers, lakes
and ponds. These things can sometimes hurt the plants and
animals that live in the water. Ask the child to find the things
that “don’t” belong in the lake pictured (tire, cup, book, paper

Talk to the child about how we use water inside and outside.
Inside, we use it for bathing, brushing our teeth, washing
clothes, washing dishes, cooking and drinking. Outside, we use
it for washing cars and watering flowers, plants and trees. Ask
the child to count the pictures below and then explain how
water is used in each picture.

Explain to the child that the word “water” starts with the
letter “W” and sounds like — “W” (make the sound it makes).
Using your finger, trace over the letter below to demonstrate
how it is written. Discuss how all living things must have water
to survive. Have the child trace over the letter and then color
the picture.
