For this report, there are several during conduct the STELLA Simulation
application. Firstly, we change the population to see the effect on the prey-
predator graph. After changing the population, we start to analyse the results by
referring on the graphs changes. Based on the model that we choose, there are
two ways that used to explore the structure of this model. However, we
obse;rved the essential structure of the models and just by clicking the spacebar
we can know the advance through the story of the structure of the prey-predator
interactions.
We followed the guide of the model by taking the guided tour and view the
entire model of the prey-predator interaction between owls and rats. All the
results from this report were collected and analysed based on the graph that we
were studied.
RESULTS :
Number of Owl : 6
Based on the experiment are conducted by using the Stella software, the
number of rat are 6000 and the number of the barn owl are 6. The number of
both variable are decrease. The graph shown that the number of barn owl are
appear not enough on year and the number of the rat are continuously increase
throughout the year. However, the palm source are increase from the first year
and decrease starting at 25.00 years. This is because when the number of the
palm source will decrease due to larger amount of the rat that eat the palm
source. In conclusion, the lower the barn owl will increased the number of rat and
caused the palm source decrease at the year 25.00 due to the absent of the barn
owl.
CONCLUSION
In conclusion, through the graph show the different pattern based on the
number of owl which have been controlled as variable. Using the simulation in
teaching and learning process will able student to learn relationship prey-
predator also will help to lean an experiment easier and use less time. Student
can explore new things even through not in formal class since there are software
that can be used to see the model and simulation such as STELLA. This situation
will help students to identifies and interpret the different data based on the
graph from the different variable. The simulation will increase the critical thinking
of the students by analysis and interpret data by using STELLA software. In
addition, this application will increase the motivation of the students to conduct
the experiment and interest with the lesson.
