2. Respond to these questions.

1. Question: What are nonrenewable energy sources?

Answer:. All fossil fuels are nonrenewable, but not all nonrenewable
energy sources are fossil fuels
2. Question: What are renewable energy sources?
Answer: In its various forms, it derives directly from the sun, or from
heat generated deep within the earth
3. Write the definition of The Great Energy Hunt Technical Terms

Green Energy - Is a term describing what is thought to be

environmentally friendly sources of power and energy.
Typically, this refers to renewable and non-polluting
energy sources
Non-Renewable Energy that cannot be replaced once it is used or energy
Energy - that is not being replaced as fast as it is being used

Renewable Energy - Renewable energy is energy that is collected from

renewable resources, which are naturally replenished on
a human timescale, such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides,
waves, and geothermal heat.
Coal - Mineral deposit containing combustible substances which
is considered to be a fossil fuel.
Natural Gas - gas issuing from the earth's crust through natural
openings or bored wells; especially : a combustible
mixture of methane and other hydrocarbons used chiefly
as a fuel and raw material
Petroleum Energy - A broadly defined class of liquid hydrocarbon mixtures.
Included are crude oil, lease condensate, unfinished
oils, refined products obtained from the processing of
crude oil, and natural gas plant liquids.
Petroleum - a dark, thick oil obtained from under the ground and
made into fuels such as gas and heating oil, and used in
making plastics
Propane (C3H8) - a colorless, flammable gas, C 3 H 8, of the alkane series,
occurring in petroleum and natural gas: used chiefly as a
fuel and in organic synthesis.

Biomass plant materials and animals waste used especially as a

source of fuel
Ethanol (CH3-CH2OH) CH3CH2OH, is an alcohol, a group of chemical compounds
- whose molecules contain a hydroxyl group, OH, bonded
to a carbon atom.
Ethanol alcohol
Geothermal Energy Geothermal energy is the heat from the Earth. It's clean
and sustainable.
Hydroelectric Power This is called hydroelectric power or hydropower. The
most common type of hydroelectric power plant uses a
dam on a river to store water in a reservoir
Hydrogen Hydrogen is a chemical element with chemical symbol H
and atomic number 1. With a standard atomic weight of
circa 1.008, hydrogen is the lightest element on the
periodic table.
Solar Energy Solar power is energy from the sun that is converted
into thermal or electrical energy.
Wind Energy - Wind turbines convert the kinetic energy in the wind
into mechanical power.
