Background: Tuberculosis (TB) is a lung infection disease that was a public health problem in
the world. The disease is caused by Mycobacterium Tuberculosis which mostly attacks the lungs
but can also attack other organs. Based on the Global Tuberculosis Report (2013), founded 8.6
million new cases of pulmonary tuberculosis, with 1.1 million deaths in the world. The data also
states that in 2011 - 2012 Indonesia ranks fourth after India, China and South Africa. Based on
the Health Research (Riskesdas) in 2013, the province of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) ranks in the
eighth highest pulmonary TB cases in Indonesia. This is because the success rate in treatment of
pulmonary tuberculosis in the province are still much below the strategic plan to be achieved. In
1995, WHO recommended strategy of Directly Observed Treatment Shortcourse (DOTS)
globally in TB control for increasing the cure rate to 85%. DOTS strategy has been implemented
in Kupang for about 13 years, but have not achieved optimal results. Based on the data from
Riskesdas in 2014 the total number of TB cases (Case Notification Rate) in the province are the
highest in Kupang, total of 542 cases of TB BTA (+). According to Riskesdas in 2014 the
treatment success rate (Success Rate) in Kupang still below the strategic plan to be achieved,
only about 69.97%.

Objective: to determine the correlation between TB Lung level of knowledge with the patients
obdience in taking the TB Lung medicine in Puskesmas Oesapa Kupang. Respondents in this
study were 45 people selected by the method of total sampling.

Methods: This study used observational analytic method with cross sectional approach. The
level of knowledge was collected by filling out a questionnaire and then been grouped (good
knowledge, enough, less). The obedience in taking the TB Lung medicine was collected by
filling the questionnaire MMAS-8. Data analysis used Somers'd.

Results: stasistik analysis shows that there is a significant correlation between the level of
knowledge with the patients obdience (p = 0.000 or <0.05) and values (r = 0.734), which means
that both variables have a strong correlation. Based on the description above shows that the level
of knowledge had a strong influence with the patients obedience in taking TB Lung medicine.

Keywords: The level of knowledge, TB Lung, the patients Obdience
